it's not about 'being prepared for a bo1' it's about very simple math. the stronger player has a better chance to win in a longer series. if you think that life, jangbi, leenock and roro would have been kicked out of the group in bo3 series you are wrong and stupid.

gg no re ogn.

I know bo1 sucks but your last sentence implies no upsets would ever happen. I wish that was the case, Flash wouldve won everything, ever.

If by Flash you mean jjakji, then yes.

:o:o:o

Still hate Jjakji. Like if you are going to steal Leenocks title at least make sure to stay relevant after.... Wouldn't mind if he lost to someone who actually are good and not just get one dream-run.

He did give us an amazing finals in a time were Nestea, Mvp and MC just smashed through to their titles. A 4-0 stomp from Leenock just wouldn't have been fun.

Nah, I'd be totally fine with Leenock winning 4-3. If Jjakji stayed relevant I wouldn't be bitter. But he hasn't done anything in 1.5 years since then and Leenock has won big tournaments. Pretty sure we can agree that Leenock is the better player. Jjakji just had a dream-run.

if you really think that kangho would win a bo100 against life and jangbi or hyvaa against leenock and roro or even fantasy against life though that one is not that clear - then you have no idea what you are talking about. bo1 format killed these players.

i'm not saying it's impossible to have it happen it's just way less likely.

Lol I had the exact same prediction -_-

These four were all kind of the favorites though, I would say.

The only person i was not sure about was Leenock, the others i thought would make it 100% -_-

Maybe i get more lucky with WCS EU^^

Jjakji was actually very good during GSL November and the previous season, and decent during two seasons after I would say (S1 2012 barely qualified for RO8 and S2 he won once again Taeja and lost the last match of the group against him, Taeja who went to at least 3 RO8 at this moment). He had one of the best micro in TvZ and he showcased very different styles, for example in TvP (his series in GSL November shows this). He suffered the same way as Mkp from the patch (queen range, overlord speed) that would change the face of TvZ forever (or rather a year) and went on to never win a TvZ again. But it's true that he has never been that good in TvP, at least he was very solid in TvZ at one point.
I remember him losing code A RO24 against Symbol right after the patch (that must have been rough mentally to play a TvZ like two days after it, when you really didn't have time to adapt) and Symbol kinda took all the momentum that could still be in him.

The only objection I have to this BO1 format is that all the group games are played in a single day. In BW OSL, players only play a single game per day. Then they rest, train and prepare, and play their next BO1 game against their next opponent a few days later. Not having the time to prepare in your 2nd or 3rd matches (map and opponent may change) make the entire group format more volatile and cut-throat.

Sigh, can't compare OSL now with the old OSL. Back then, we have stargirls, that's the best part. Now, everything need to take a backseat to LoL.

no, let's not. all i'm saying is a 'bo100' (which doesn't make sense cause the result could be 50-50, but whatever) is obviously unrealistic. i realize you were exaggarating, but my point is that consistency in long series and mental endurance aren't the only skills that matter in sc2. and if upsets were never supposed to happen, why even play tournament games? just make a bracket, look at everyone's ladder rankings and the guy with the highest ladder ranking gets a trophy. congrats ForGG, you just won WCS EU.
