I only make 12-14 in zvp and that's a really good number. I don't think you need more then that, 12-14 imo is the sweet spot and should be all you make.

I prefer a much more critical mass of like 16-18, but he had only like 9 there which did nothing along with just roach support was terrible vs that army.

Depends on what stage of the game we are in, really late 20-25+ SHs is looking to become standard.

Yeah I am not a fan of that. But I also don't like playing with mass spore/spine. I prefer going ultra/hydra/swarmhost/viper. Much more fun and can take on late game toss army's no problem ^^.
