yeah that really sounds like owning :D
It's 5/6...so it'll sound like it. But it will likely also be 5/8 which is less dominating.
PartinG isn't kespa, and anyway we really shouldn't care where people come from as long as they show good games... No idea why we would.
parting is kespa, he's just not an elephant
Pretty sure when people start these kespa wars they're refering to the elephants, no? If not it makes even less sense.
Just to make eSF fans mad, that's the whole purpose. Sense is out of the window long time ago in TL.
yeah i don't think there are that many actual kespa fans, more esf baiters
The point of being a "KeSPA" fan (as the organisation thing) eludes me...
Very few people are actually fans of kespa the organization. They have their fair share of politically controversial decisions within the business. That aside, they are the reason e-sports is so big in korea, and without them, there wouldn't be esf today.
The majority are actually just fans of kespa players, sometimes irrationally. It stems from the fact that in starcraft 1, a lot of the sc2 players early on were failed sc1 players who couldn't make the cut. Yes it is a new game, yes it rewards a different skillset, but the name of the game is there and long time fans have an expectation that the raw work ethic and natural talent of those who did succeed in sc1 will do the same in sc2. Not always the case (l0lbisu), but a lot of the kespa players are showing promise, and those who have been in the scene prior to sc2's release enjoy seeing the progamers who found success in a harder game to do the same now. Of course...some are just drama baiters, but you can figure them out yourself.

A bit off topic, the point of being a fan of any player eludes me. I'm not talking only about ESports here, mainstream sport aswell. Players don't care about fans at all, and organizations only use fans to milk more money. I consider that being objective and watching a game of SC2/tennis/fotball without any emotional implication is the way to go.

Partly true, yet some players do care about fans and you forget that you can be a fan of somebody because he delivers good games. Aka, I'm a fan of TLO because his games are often tense and interesting and he seems like he really cares about his fans.
Good games overall, one of the more interesting days in my opinion. Yoda's TvZ looked good but too one dimensional, and Flying looked weak after 2 base timing attack mode (decent game on Akilon Wastes vs. Roro). Overall it seems the better players advanced.
+ Point, is that I won't have to hear SC2 hipsters going on about Yoda until next season.
- Points, Kespa vs ESF nonsense.
Looking forward to watching the VoDs when I get time nonetheless. Also it's good to see the horrendously underpowered Zerg doing so badly in GSL this season, really validates all the whining about the race.
I cannot believe how stacked Ro8 is looking, Roro vs Innovation, Soulkey vs Parting, sOs....if it werent for the group of death eliminating Life and Flash, jesus.....

what's a better alternative?
Extended series
I actually like extended series, but there really is no perfect system. They all have their own faults and people can get the short stick sometimes
Well I would say the only downside of current GSL system is that the initial match set-up matters quite a bit. If you are against the favorite, you have quite a big disadvantage. For example let's say players are 1-4, with 1 being the best etc.
Games could be: 2 > 3 score 2-0 1 > 4 1 > 2 3 > 4 3 > 2 score 2-1 (this would be the only ''upset'', but could easily go this way if 2 and 3 are not far apart)
1 and 3 advance even though 2 went 3-2 in total in their games.
This feels pretty unfair towards player 2, he did play better in their matches overall than player 3 after all. This is supposed to be compensated by player 2 losing in the winner's match, while player 3 won in the loser's match, BUT obviously winner's match should be a lot harder to win than loser's match.
Still it would also not be fair to extend the series, for example starting from 2-0 and doing a best of 5. Both players have won 1 series and lost 1 series so far, so this approach would IMO favor player 2 too much. Maybe player 2 should get a 1 map advantage only if he won 2-0 in the initial series, but that's getting a bit convoluted.

That's true for everyone who's not a long time BW fan, pretty much those who don't know what KeSPA is before SC2.

Well it is a pretty "unfair" way to settle a group. They should get Hellspawn on it.
Its not even remotely unfair. In fact, if they were to make RorO play more games I'd say it would be unfair. RO16 is a Group style double elimination, thats how its done. Theres no other way to be more fair. What IS unfair is the MLG style extended series, theres a reason why no standard tournaments do it.

i don't think it was particularly unfair, it was just bad luck and not great design, but it was "fair" in that people knew what they were getting themselves into

Well, it's all about winning series when that matters. RorO lost the first series but won the following two. Flying won the first one but lost the following two. That's a valid counter-argument to say that RorO should advance, even though he has a < 50% rate in his matches against Flying. I see this as RorO being the better player. 1v1 record between 2 players isn't the only thing that determines if one is better..
