Then maybe coach Park knows more than you. Sending out people based on a gut feeling is bad coaching. IM has lost a lot of matches because the coach sent out people because they wanted to play. I don't think it was gut feeling. I agree it was a HUGE gamble by coach Park. Yet Hero needed this confidence boost more than Taeja, who was the only other viable ace here. When you're this far behind in a league, you're going to have to take gambles. Again, I think you're right about Hero not really being an ace player, but he has a great PvP. Rain was most likely the ace here, and winning against him after such a long losing streak (to rain and at the studio) is so positive for the EGTL team, more than the win itself. It boosts Hero's moral and motivates the team. It could of looked stupid, but now he looks like a fricken genious. It was well worth the risk. Thats what I said, in order to reach the playoffs (or do better next season) he needs to build up Heros confidence but lets look at the facts. Coach Park didnt prepare anything for the ace match, Hero has a losing record against Rain, Hero just lost his match and Hero is known for his nerves. Without knowing the outcome would you seriously send out Hero to win this match with these facts in mind? to win the match, i'll probably choose taeja over hero. to build hero's confidence and give him ace match experience, yes i will send hero. even if they lost, coach park would've taken a step towards this objective already. what is losing one match vs bolstering your team's strength with a confident hero, who is one of the most skilled players in your team? how does this make coach park look stupid? Heros confidence probably grew because he won but what if he had lost? I doubt JYP felt good after he was sent out in the ace match and people wrote mean shit about him. It would make coach Park look stupid because of the reasons I listed. Did you even read what I said? you grow confidence in your player by putting him out there, win or lose. even if he loses, he still gets to experience that pressure and hence, he'll be able to learn how to deal with it. how do you propose coach park build hero's confidence if he doesn't play him for a critical match? You havent even read what I said. I believe that Coach Park sent him out so Hero could build up confidence and do better next round/season. I dont think it was good decision to send him out to win that match since nothing was in Heros favour. What if HerO has a 90% PvP winrate in practice that you just don't know about because you don't actually know anything about their practice. And from what I've seen on stream, his PvP is really really good atm. Sure, that might be the case. Im just going by what we know and what numbers are out there and based on stats, Hero wasnt the best pick but not the worst either. In the end the coach knows best but that didnt stop people from talking shit about the EGTL coach when he sent out JYP as the ace or when the IM coach sent out a bunch of B-teamers i n GSTL (they might have been practice bonjwas who knows). Hero was the right choice because Hero won. Enough said. In sports, whatever gets the W is all that matters. I think all this speculation and what ifs can be applied to any sport. And it is just as trivial and senseless to do so in those sports as you guys are doing right now with StarCraft!

So, can we please remember this the next time we're tempted to say Hero isn't that good? He could be more stable, sure, but at his best he can beat anyone.

Hero ended up winning but if I had to bet on a rematch my money would still be on rain.

Great win for Hero (even though I like Rain and totally expected him to win). He really needed that one.
