So a player turtles on three bases while teching up to the ultimate sky army. The only difference between this and WoL PvZ is that the Zerg had to invest in actual land defense and energy units. Those seem optional for Protoss depending on the map.
this is the worst hots build*
It's the revenge of the Protoss. Now Zerg is forced to do all-ins and not ever let Toss to get to his lategame army
and yes, it's boring...
Actually you don't have to. You can do WoL PvZ to fight it. Just replace broodlords with swarm hosts. mass infestors with vipers and some infestors, and make mass mass spore crawlers. That's how you technically beat skytoss PvZ in late game.
You need the right map to make that work tho, and that turns into an even more boring game.

Yeah, this is the answer, but from my understanding it doesn't work on all maps. On said maps you should probably do some aggression and cost effectively kill Stargate units off before critical mass is reached. To beat the CreatorPrime build, Life did an early Ling/Hydra attack to achieve this, followed by a Muta tech switch, and then right back to Hydras.
The main thing is even if there is a way to deal with these types of strategies, it makes for a very boring game. The point of Heart of the Swarm was to increase excitement and spectator experience as well as the skill ceiling, not decrease it.

CreatorPrime turtle on fast third while massing Void Rays is pretty bad too. Takes about as much skill as playing a platinum league 4v4 game.
CranK did the same thing against VortiX in ATC yesterday. God that was awful to watch.

Except Protoss is completely safe, as you just saw. Zerg was never safe due to 2 base mass gate / immortal allin or pre-hive timing, or vortex (which was bullshit).
there are Muta-builds that can apply heavy pressure. There are also some Neydus-Allins and a lot of timings with Ling-Roach-Hydra combinations and even some Swarmhost builds.
There is no build like the immortal all-in yet but maybe Zerg players will discover something. Sacsri played this one pretty bad though, looked like he had never played against this style.

Does that actually work? I think I'll just try doing that in the unit tester later.

I doubt a progamer cares how boring their play is, as long as it saves them the game.

you beat that as zerg by never letting protoss take a 4th base. life has realized this and most of his games are him constantly headsmashing the protosses 4th over and over again until he wins
it is kind of a bad idea for zerg to take bases 5 or higher in PvZ until his natural is almost mined out. if your playing it properly IMO. pretty much the economy wont really kick in anyway and the game should be won before your natural runs out of minerals thus you only need 3 bases worth of mineral income
4base zerg beats 3base protoss. that is what you need to remember. Do not take a 5th base, and just spend 100% of your time bashing your face into the protosses 4th base as hard as you can
if the protoss ever secures a 4th you lose. Think of it that way. 100% of what matters in the game is did the protoss take a 4th, and thats it. if you ever let a protoss take a 4th you deserve to lose. thats how life plays pretty much. Now sometimes life ends up not being able to stop the tosses 4th but by then he starved the toss for so long and then then its now 6base life vs 1 mining base for toss or something
Pretty much if you just constantly make smashing the tosses 4th your primary goal, then you can trade with hydras with air toss and be ok. tempests CANNOT dps down 200food of hydras fast enough to stop them from rampaging and destroying multiple bases. And you can just eliminate the tosses buildings. And if the protoss goes tempests on 3base his storm will be VERY LATE allowing you to do 200food of hydras smashing 140food of air toss at the 15 minute mark (if you scout hes going 3base air toss)

Symbol vs Dear on Daybreak. Prepare yourselves.
It would be cool to see at least once, just not every game for 6 months+

Catz has been theorycrafting a bit. I think he's suggested mass spores, vipers, and either queens or hydras.
Or, as others have said, timing attacks and early aggression. An early fleet beacon is a big investment, and it takes a long time to hit critical mass with tempests.

SH locusts get nowhere due to colo, hydras get raped due to VR + Storm + Colo. Fix...everything gets raped to VR Storm Colo.
Mass corrupters with viper, infestor, and ground support can win that, or any heavy skytoss build. PvZ is quite balanced in HotS imo.

Replay or VoD, top level.
....nope, didn't think so !
There was a good example on HerO's stream about a month ago that everyone was talking about. You can probably find the day it was by looking at the video views.
