Those bothered by the ESF vs Kespa debate, just ignore it. Whenever I see someone say that one side is better than the other, I think of Mvp and Flash and that they both said that there is no difference.

Why would a poster on TL have more knowledge than the best players from BW/SC2? They don't!

Just take yesterday matches : 2 KeSPA advances. Take today's match : 2 eSF advances.
Group A and B ? 1 KeSPA and 1 eSF each.

It's fucking perfectly balanced !

Also 3 Z, 3 T and 2 P... Even race seems nice and balanced

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. The whole Kespa vs eSF discussion is retarded either way.

No it's not, it's awesome.

Why so? Threads turn to shit super quickly. Why not support players from either side without giving a damn what organisation they're from?

why have teams at all then? why have leagues? why have anything but individual players? because rooting for a team or even a league / organization is what sports is all about...

So you cheer for Roger Federer's Tennis Club when you watch him play? Teams sure I understand. Esports organisations is a bit silly though.
That's like saying "Go ATP players!" if there was anything else.

There actually is a bit of an "old school" vs "new school" storyline to it though. KESPA guys mainly just came into the game, but are still kind of old school because they were the big dogs in BW. So they have a chip on their shoulder to be the big dogs here too. But the ESF guys are mainly BW castoffs who became the big dogs in SC2, so they have a chip on their shoulder because they don't want these upstarts coming in and taking their glory.

When players like Flash and Life play eachother and give an amazing finals, it just makes the storyline that much more intense. Life, the definition of the new school champion, playing against Flash, the established long-time champ.

And if there are two sides, everyone wants to pick one and root against the other.

(I love Life though, and have ever since he was on Zenex, but that's beside the point.)

I'd argue that has gone down quite a big . Alot of the eSF players especially the newer ones these days weren't BW players at all.

Which just ups the ante even more. Young guys who know nothing of their own history coming in and trying to usurp the rightful throne of the Trail-blazing Masters. Old players whose glory is fading coming back to take on the world on a do or die mission to reclaim the Sacred Title!

Can't teach an old dog new tricks? Try telling that to Flash! Young pups don't have sharp fangs? Try telling that to Life!

Ballsy recruits versus hardened veterans. Young Bucks taking on the Old Bulls. Blood will be spilled. Tears shall be shed. Lives changed. Will a new Emperor be born, or will the Ancients rise to heights yet unknown? Tune in next time on Dragon Ball Starcraft to find out!

Any way I look at it.

except that's not how the player bashers look at it. they are like "lol flash is inherently superior because he played the hardest game at the highest level and therefore everyone who played that game is inherently superior to everyone playing sc2, a player like true is just better than a player like taeja, no contest, lol esf fans so deluded" which is untrue

And that is messed up, but honestly, for me it makes it all that much more exciting and satisfying to see them win. Of course, people should keep it to a respectful, friendly level, but people don't work like that a lot of times. They invest emotion and it turns ugly, win or lose.

Pretty much. Nothing wrong with a rivalry, and I see the kespa cheers as cheering on a group of players (old school BW players mostly) not necessarily the kespa organization itself. At least that's how I see them. PartinG is a bit of a funny case in how I address him because most generally think kespa = elephant.

What I have a problem with is just the bullshit some of the kespa fans spew that simply isn't true. As if the average kespa player is on an entirely different tier than ESF players. This wouldn't be a problem if it was even somewhat validated with the results. Nothing I've seen thus far gameplay-wise leads me to believe Kespa will largely displace ESF at the top. Two Kespa players advance over 2 ESF players? Okay, cool. Come back when code S is > 50% kespa. Come back when ESF players look like foreigners vs Koreans. Because what I see so far is a pretty even field between two factions.

i can actually predict an argument/excuse that esf fans can use in the future if/when GSL becomes kespa dominated - it'll be because all the eSF talent is off farming money in WCS EU and NA lol

seriously WCS is so screwy sigh

To be honest this is all probably just because there aren't many true, meaningful rivalries in Starcraft right now. KT vs SKT sure, but what else is there? And KT aren't even very good in PL! Leessangrok is basically pointless unless Jaedong stops sucking, ST vs IM is only a rivalry because they are the best ESF teams and not because there's actually anything there, Fanta vs JangBi was looking to become a great rivalry at the end of BW but JangBi got all the trophies over Fanta and they are only decent at SC2, DRG/MKP and Mvp/MMA are irrelevant in 2013... and... I can't think of anything else.

These guys need to start stepping up their rivalry-making. Maybe Flash vs Life can be a good one if they meet in another final. Other than those two, I can't see anyone else making a meaningful rivalry.

I guess until then we have to put up with Kespa vs ESF

I really hope they consolidate GSTL and PL so we can start focusing our hatred on teams again.

But then I'd be torn between Woongjin and IM T_T

The reason I, and probably some other """""ESF Fans""""""" (whatever), aren't as hostile as the BW elitists is that I never ever played BW, i didn't know anything about these players, and to me it's really interesting to see completely new (to me) players come into the scene and show new strategies and interesting play. The more great players, the more exciting it is to me and everyone else. Of course I never cheer for them, because the bw people on these forums are so damn annoying (see the group C thread) so it just seems so hard to support them, but yeh.

TRUE though is different, big fan of him after that series with fantasy! Oh, and Innovation of course

Kespa != elephant. I believe the idea is that elephant = top of the top of KeSPA players with championships or deep runs at least. It so far proven wrong. Jaedong in WoL was nothing like Jaedong in BW, though in HotS it's a bit better. Protosses so far were mediocre (Bisu, Stork, JangBi, Best). Flash was good but definitely with two "o"s.

There was never Elephant Stampede. There are no elephants. Maybe if they had switched in may 2011 there would have been.

Oh wait WHAT they are BOTH in the evening? -_-'' I can't then because that is driving time. Maybe the latter one but then I'd have to sacrifice ladder time lol
