I think this win is quite symbolic. The elephant kicked down the door as WoL comes to an end, and a new chapter in HotS begins.

The WoL OSL already kicked in that door, but it's nice to finally have a GSL winner who didn't quit BW early.

The elephant situation is less black and white and more shades of grey. You will absolutely not have Kespa players winning every GSL in the coming years. There might be a higher percentage of them winning than ESF players, but there will never be complete and total domination unless Kespa simply recruits more young players. With HotS, but moreso LotV (assuming the game makes it there as a flagship esport, and I don't personally doubt it will) you're going to see that the real Elephant is the 15-18 year old kids that get into the game professionally. That, I assure you, will be what makes more of a difference than what organization their team is part of. This may be where Kespa has the upper hand where they (at least used to?) require that pros go through testing tournaments to even be licensed, so they already have an option to fall back on to pinpoint the greatest young players. Teams like IM have a lot of funding, and I wonder where they stand compared to Kespa teams, and what kind of salaries (if any) they can offer young players to entice them to join. Ugh, so offtopic. I'm sorry about that. I didn't get a chance to see the finals, and despite being a zerg player I'm not super interested, but it sounds like the ceremonies that took place after the win were really meaningful and awesome, so I look forward to those. Congrats to Roro, who I don't think ever got the recognition he deserved before this, and hope that will change ![]() ![]()

Who's to say Life wouldn't have been the next Flash had he not been like 12 or 13 when sc2 came out? The elephant situation is less black and white and more shades of grey. It was complete dismissal of the then current SC2 scene. That's why i am puzzled when people today claim any Kespa wins as victories for "Elephants" I'm sorry, but the elephants are gone. It's all SC2 players. Kespa vs ESF rivalry, sure. But that kind of total and absolute dismissal of SC2 players' achievements that intrigue has displayed simply does not allow for a year of practice. In fact, intrigue paints himself into a corner even further by actually confirming that. I am saying that there are 300 current pros and semi-pros that have the potential to come in and dominate SC2 at any moment, with a latency of a few months from the day they switch. What's happening now is expected by everyone in SC2 community. It's a given, the default setting. Broodwar progamers are talented individuals and will be winning GSL eventually? Well, duh.
