The more time goes on, I think that the EG curse consists of the following:

Player is good -> EG buys player -> player not that good anymore due to EG's not-so-good training/coaching staff -> player gets worse than before, ppl start talking about "EG curse". That leads to EG buying new ppl (which would be Jaedong and Revival at this point in time). Let's wait another year to see them fall into another state of meaningless being, just as JYP, Puma and HuK did. I mean, srsly, who is excited for one of them going Code S, and seriously expecting one of them to go for a code S round of 8/4/finals? Who does expect JYP to win a Dreamhack (just to mention poorer standards), who expects Puma to win a IEM, who expects HuK to win a MLG? Noone would do this. Of course one would root and cheer for them, but really expecting ppl to be first is like expecting Grubby to become multiple Code S champ. Lol.

EG buys good players, they don't breed them.

Players EG bought since SC2's release: Puma, JYP, HuK, Thorzain, Stephano, Jaedong, Revival.

Players EG trained since SC2's release: IdrA, Machine, Incontrol, Demuslim, Lzgamer

See the difference?

Apparently EGTL are actively trying to one up last week's humiliating loss to bottom feeders STX Soul by starting with Puma, the worst player in Proleague statistically, and sticking their best (active) player, HerO, 6th, where he could very easily sit unused if STX Soul manage to match or best last week's 4-1 result vs EGTL.

EGTL fans: disappointment inc.

I hate to say that I called it...and not that I'm special as I'm pretty sure that at this point EGTL could be run better by forum vote from TL. It could hardly be worse (but I shouldn't speak too soon, next thing you know they'll play Puma as ace.) EGTL getting crushed in two back-to-back matches against the clear worst team in proleague, and now sitting just one place above the foot of the table.

EGTL's strategy is clearly to run out all their worst players while leaving their best players on the bench. Last match v STX Stephano and Jaedong watched from the sidelines as Revival inexplicably selected to complete the 3-kill. This match Hero and Stephano warming the bench. Brilliant. F'ing brilliant.

How could EGTL turn things around? Well never playing Puma (0-5) or Thorzain (1-4) again would be a good first step. Firing their coach would be another.

After what I saw today, I'd also never send out JYP, at least vs zerg, he played so horribly, one of the worst pvzs I've seen for quite a long time...

It was more like a dumb cannon rush fail he couldn't recover from, I've seen a lot worse... Anyway who do you play instead of JYP?? The depth of EGTL's seemingly endless roster being ruthlessly exposed in proleague

He was sitting right there! If he's so busy for code S why is he sitting there for hours watching his team get walked over twice in a row....

Demuslim was in mTw before joining EG. He even won his only tournament for them at HSC1

Because he has to. Just because he doesn't have the time to prepare for his SPL match doesn't mean he can just not be there when his team plays.

Honestly, I think that underprepared Stephano would do ways better than Puma, Zenio or JYP.
I don't think one game would wear him out)))))

lets not forget the "other" curse

A good team is being hyped and is a fan favourite
EG spots opportunity to boost fame by riding the team
deal expires and they go seperate ways
the fan favourite team got into trouble
the fan favourite team disbands

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some backlash from the community. People will probably be upset.

Yep. Though IdrA was not trained by EG, I remember Idra playing in CJ Entus (maybe i'm remembering wrong, long time down in the brood wars..). Incontrol is more into hosting these days, machine is..well, machine, nice guy ofc, but not a player getting good results. Demuslim has had such a huge ingame knowledge, metagame knowledge he proved often, I still don't know why he go so out of focus. Lzgamer, yeah, what a <iron>huge, great, awesome player </irony>. Next victim of EG is obviously ThorZain, not getting any results in any league/tournament. HuK is done already. Next victim to the big moneyboy will be stephano.

Remember my words, in about a year, Stephano's star will be sunken into the deep muddy ocean of EG's dirty money. I'm not really kidding with these words.

Well, that was SlayerS' own fault I think. And I don't expect Nazgul being bitchy, such as Jessica and some Slayers players were. ;D

Geez, I hope not. Especially since I don't see Stephano doing well in GSL

Thing is though, EGTL can still do well. Today doesn't have to be indicative of their overall performance in the long run. Maybe they're still settling in. I hope so at least because that means they should get more stable over time
