Apparently EGTL are actively trying to one up last week's humiliating loss to bottom feeders STX Soul by starting with Puma, the worst player in Proleague statistically, and sticking their best (active) player, HerO, 6th, where he could very easily sit unused if STX Soul manage to match or best last week's 4-1 result vs EGTL.

EGTL fans: disappointment inc.

I hate to say that I called it...and not that I'm special as I'm pretty sure that at this point EGTL could be run better by forum vote from TL. It could hardly be worse (but I shouldn't speak too soon, next thing you know they'll play Puma as ace.) EGTL getting crushed in two back-to-back matches against the clear worst team in proleague, and now sitting just one place above the foot of the table.

EGTL's strategy is clearly to run out all their worst players while leaving their best players on the bench. Last match v STX Stephano and Jaedong watched from the sidelines as Revival inexplicably selected to complete the 3-kill. This match Hero and Stephano warming the bench. Brilliant. F'ing brilliant.

How could EGTL turn things around? Well never playing Puma (0-5) or Thorzain (1-4) again would be a good first step. Firing their coach would be another.

They should never have to lose if they had this lineup consistently. sadly not so

Ever single one of those players has lost at least once ( some of them multiple times) in Proleague thus far. Even when you play your best players they can get sniped or simply beaten by similarly or superior skilled players. Also it says something about the unholy alliance when the general consensus is that their roster is not deep enough to play a varied lineup and win with it.

* Shrugs* They'll get it together or they won't, either way they get the publicity both teams wanted out of the venture.

Well the main difference is that this lineup is good enough to beat most PL teams outright. They don't need to have a super deep lineup if their main one is good enough to win every match, which they should be. Sniping is possible of course but still better than gambling on Puma/Zenio to do well...

The only player to win in EG-TL is a player who've been playing for less than a year.

Shame on you EGTL !

Taeja is injured, Stephano has code S and probably the coach thought it best not to play him.

I see why rotating players seems like a good option. Your players don't just reveal their style and get outplayed. The problem is is that there are very few top quality players. Zenio, HuK (if he ever returns), Puma, don't deserve to be on the roster in terms of progamers go. JYP and Revival are great players, but they seem to choke up on the stage. Stephano, JD, HerO and Taeja when he's fit can't just carry the team in this format. They have very unique styles which will bite them on the ass when someone can prepare 24/7 against that style.

What EG-TL is missing is a B-team. There are no players who they can call just to play one style over and over. There is also a lack of map knowledge from them. They play VERY similar to ESF players in the fact that they seem to practice for everything, and don't really take the BO to the opponent. That marauder rush, that is something that Puma should be able to do himself, however he probably never knew about it because there is noone on the team willing to do those cheeses or even think them up. They have no map specific builds, and that is what is killing them. They need more coaches, like KT has one for each race. They also need that B team with strong practice partners. That is the difference imo atm.

What they need to do is get more players over there. Surely the likes of TLO, ret and Snute will be willing to fly over for practice. Even if they can somehow pursuade Jinro (who I believe still lives in KR) to practice with them or even coach them would be amazing.

The ideal situation would be this

A-team
HerO
Taeja
Stephano
Revival
JYP
JD
Thorzain

B team
Puma
Zenio
HuK

Practice Partners
TLO
Snute
Ret
IdrA
Machine
Demuslim

That would just make the team so much stronger. Hell, I'd happily replace some of the foreigners into the B team over Puma and Zenio, but because they can't register until the next season, they would make awesome practice partners for now.

Wow, Revival making it look like it is impossible to win as Zerg against Protoss. That was painful to watch.

Well fucking said. I'm sure people will just home in on the list itself and quibble over whether Huk should be considered B team or Practice Partner, but the theory holds up really well.

The match between classic and puma is the best example why egtl is doing not as well as expected in the proleague.

The lineup looks like the coach mixed up the rounds.
The weaker/less reliable players first and the good players later... not a good idea for this format imho.

Also, where is Stephano?

Matches like this make my FPL team sad

After what I saw today, I'd also never send out JYP, at least vs zerg, he played so horribly, one of the worst pvzs I've seen for quite a long time...

Watching this was so aweful. Seriously, what the heck did JYP do in his match vs. Hyvaa? I do not really know what guys like Puma and JYP do in Proleague, I also don't know why HuK was even able to play Code S UD's and even Ro32.

Ideal lineup would still be some Hero, Taeja, Stephano, maybe Jaedong as Z sniper, but that's it. I don't get the point of putting JYP and Puma up in almost every single match, since they don't really get up to any skill level beyond a certain point. There's a reason why these EG ppl do not play code S anymore.

maybe these players are too busy preparing to and participating in more important activities than PL.
