Bisu had second highest ELO after Fantasy at the end of SC:BW, it's so silly that people say he was on the decline. He was only sent out for the ace match for the finals of the last brood war proleague. I don't think he'll get a chance to play tonight though. Maybe he should be practicing HotS instead?

That was very smart by Action, he moved out to make Rain counterattack, then pulled back his main army immediately and killed everything with just a few Zerglings.
I can't help but feel that if the rebuilt Protoss base was further away he could have made a win happen with continued templar harass (trade energy for damage). It was just so close that the Broods can just move a little to the right and start hitting that nexus.
I should have bet money on who comes out for which side. So far as predicted. Let's see if Paralyze beats Action now, then Flash comes out to beat him, and then it's Flash vs Fantasy.

The storms did a lot of damage plus it was 5 base P vs 4 base Zerg. Usually in these PvZ battles, even if all the BLs get taken out. Zerg just remaxs with lings and it is GG.

Proleague never shows unit healthbars so I couldn't see that the broodlords were apparently almost dead, none of them died in the first battle so it looked like action would just roll to victory.

Don't be ridiculous. Stalkers couldn't have killed that many broodlords without the storm, nor would the result of that battle had changed if Action also had a bank. The warp in mechanic determined the outcome of the battle. It only determined the outcome of the game because Action did not have a comparable bank.

BL die to 3 full storms... A lot of the BLs took 2 full storms and then the stalkers killed them off.

The health bar thing is really aggravating.
I personally like 'always on' for health bars, I understand how that can clutter the screen, but if you're going to turn them off you need a great observer (which they don't have).

you can't pull back with BL/Infestor...
Action engaged almost optimally and won the battle. He was too far behind in economy to reinforce and Paralyze killed him for it.
Not a full pull back obviously just back behind the watch tower to utilize the terrain since Paralyze didn't blink in right away

His dozen or so stalkers he warped in would still die rather easily to the brood lords if they weren't all orange from eating a couple storms apiece. The storms softened them up fairly significantly: a BL has 225 health, which is a little less than 3 full storms.

I disagree, but it is hard to determine for sure due to the slight ambiguity of the area covered by storm and the lack of healthbars. I know for certain, though, that it took closer to four storms to hit the Broodlords and I think that any wider of a spread probably would have left broodlords without cover from the support on the ground and too susceptible to stalkers. I'm not sure at what point Action could have pulled back without taking heavy losses. He had been winning the battle, but the state of the economies definitely meant that Action would be unwise to not at least try to press his advantage.

Don't be ridiculous. Stalkers couldn't have killed that many broodlords without the storm, nor would the result of that battle had changed if Action also had a bank. The warp in mechanic determined the outcome of the battle. It only determined the outcome of the game because Action did not have a comparable bank.
The main point is really the bank. And people hugely overestimated how many storms were there and how much damage they caused. And accusing Action of not dodging storms, as if BLs can really "dodge" anything.
And some people overestimate how much damage 12 stalkers can do...
And after the first wave of stalkers were dead, there was going to be another and another wave, obviously. Anyway, Action was in a completely losing position from at least 10 minutes before that, because he failed to expand his economy and reduce the protoss economy. I still don't understand what was he even thinking. He was more keen on defending for the longest time, than actually winning the game.

Definitely sleep. SPL is almost every day the whole year. Iron Squid Grandfinals in Paris is once or twice a year. It's a very long, very well produced event, with performers on stage and whatnot, you need to be fresh. Trust me, it's worth it.

Compared to zerg, it's instant. It's like having "haste""first strike" in Magic The Gathering. Yes, all races have specific advantages, just while people whine about zerg, they overlook their own advantages quite often.

Pretty much, the best part of that game for me were the 3 safety bunkers. No more stupid losses like that MC game
Flash is also getting better with his early game push outs. In the past, he'd frequently lose several units to force fields with his first pressure for no reason, but that's not happening so much these days.

Flash had the lead economically and in supply, so sacrificing his vikings to take out the colossi was advantageous.

Flash's style isnt something i've seen that much though, cause he just builds like 4 medivacs and then just spams out vikings to suicide em and then rely on quite few stims to kill the rest of the protoss army

You're oversimplifying it. It's more his macro and how good flash's build lines up so he hits at a timing with a unit comp and upgrades that seems to crush collossus based compositions.

flash is abusing the protoss weakness to vikings that most protosses have at this timing due to their build
step 1) engage protoss army with your entire army
step 2) run away your bio, but leave vikings killing collossi
step 3) the stalkers kill all your vikings, BUt the vikings kill all the collossi. then you are left with bio which rapes gateway armies
step 4) because bio runs faster than collossi (collossi cannot get off shots) and because vikings are faster than collossi (collossi cant run away) this ENSURES that step 3 takes place. In the end you get a scenario where the collossi die without ever dealing any damage

Flash's style isnt something i've seen that much though, cause he just builds like 4 medivacs and then just spams out vikings to suicide em and then rely on quite few stims to kill the rest of the protoss army
Its just another point of him being reallll greedy lol. 3 cc, double upgrade, no units in beginning, not many medivacs mid game, it all points to him dying to early/midgame timing pushes, yet he survives somehow lol. People are too scared to all in him or something..

I'll try to be less of a jerk but I've seen this happen enough that it gets on my nerves. Anyone who's been on any Proleague LRs lately will clearly see that people have been hating on them left and right and this cast they've observed that SNM+Whiplash have improved, no questions about it really. I'm sure we're all glad this is happening.

It's more a question of when and where he engages. He sets things up so that he attacks before storm is ready and has a big enough viking cloud to quickly deal with 3-4 colossi. If the colossi die, then the loss of the vikings doesn't matter because Flash already had a supply lead going into the fight and bio beats gateway straight up. He also picks locations that give him plenty of room to kite.

flash is abusing the protoss weakness to vikings that most protosses have at this timing due to their build

i guess if the toss is super greedy and gets a ridic fast storm he can beat it too... pretty much the terran player needs to know when the templar archives go down then just attack at a timing when he knows storm is 20-30 seconds away

You're oversimplifying it. It's more his macro and how good flash's build lines up so he hits at a timing with a unit comp and upgrades that seems to crush collossus based compositions.
Agreed, I was oversimplifying. But when a player takes two similar engagements and ends up 40 supply ahead early in the game it seems curious. I guess if we see it a few more times from Flash against other PL people it'll mean something.

His opponents are also playing into his builds a little. Paralyze made blink and colo before starting double forge as late as 10 minutes. He was getting blink expecting to either catch out Flash's army or if flash does a drop. Neither occured, so flash is ahead for free. Best is playing 3 gate > robo after expansion vs 1 rax 3 CC which is really what you want your opponent to do as Terran.
Though flash IS making 3 bunkers default so........... ok? Flash is well covered against a lot of angles.
And yes, if you can trade your vikings for his colossus without them shooting your bio that much, particularly if you have equal upgrades and P lacks templar, that's super duper good for Terran.

Most Protoss get around this by using FFs so as to at least kill off some of the bio.

Team icon doesn't matter, Flash's macro is the best we've seen since Mvp was annihilating everyone back in 2011.
And who is to judge? Who is we? It is true that most people that follow PL (and likely BW) will say Flash just because he is Flash. Both players have outstanding macro and I think it would be hard to say that one is better than the other.

Did really well with SKT and some of their players in my FPL Round 1. Decided to go with a lot of them again, and now I'm getting absolutely f***ed in Round 2.
Overall good casting, though it helps if I'm watching Flash. He can win by the most ridiculous of margins and still astound me just due to his solidness.
SNM could do without the, "X is ahead...oh, wow, Y caught up!" type of comments. For a myriad of reasons.
The real moment when Flash won the game was when he took down Fantasy's proxy starport, because Fantasy was going bio, and he didn't have the medivacs to support his initial push timing.
Flash had a strong advantage when his medivac push failed without doing much damage considering it was heavily invested and he sealed it when he lost his entire army to hellions and vikings

Artosis made a good point on SotG yesterday regarding Protoss players (why the top Protoss players may not be doing as well vs lower level Protoss players).
He said some Zerg players were doing great off of just mustalisk micro alone (and nothing else, little understanding of RTS, etc).
Basically different skill sets. Protoss from BW and Protoss in SC2 is much different (not to mention how the match ups plays out against each race is much different also).
Top P players may have gotten to the top with very specific skill sets which aren't present in SC2 (similar to the Mustalisk micro comparison).
So while Rain, etc (all mid level Protoss from BW) are doing great in SC2, it doesn't necessarily mean Bisu is doing bad is a lost hope as a player overall.
Well, we'll see in HotS. If Bisu is still bad, then he should definitely give race switching a try.

I dunno about Rain being mid level protoss in BW he was on the rise and worked himself into the starting line up almost every single game. However I do agree that it is most likely a problem with different skillsets needed for Sc2
i feel saving rain to snipe flash is the key for SKT to win against KT
i think rain has the best chance against him. fantasy is a even game
i feel sending out fantasy first is actually smart. normally that would garuntee you start with 1-2 wins against the enemies non aces, then close out with rain

Why do you think he should be fired? He has been in a Captain/Coaching role for so many years, and he developed some of the greatest players in the game in SKT. Boxer is the last person who should be fired from the team he, you know, was a founding member of.
Be honest, you don't know anything about the inside going's on in the team house regarding coaching or training. To denigrate someone like Boxer because of a losing streak is.. really dumb.

I was a Flash/Bisu fan for a while (back in 08). I stopped being a fan of Bisu once he stacked Group F of the Lost Saga MSL with Flash, Jaedong, Hwasin, and Firebathero. Cowardly move, robbed the fans of a Bo5 between Flash and Jaedong. Then he went on to handicap his own group with three "easy Zergs", after which karma proceeded to knock him out 1-2. Then he decided to bitch about the maps after losing in his own easy group--that he built himself--in his next interview. After that period, I just couldn't respect Bisu as a player anymore.

The SKT side was filled when the match started, but the KT side still had empty seats. I went to get some coffee in between match 2 and 3, and when i got back, all the seats were filled and there were people standing in the back of the room too. The atmosphere built up pretty quick.

At least many Koreans are calling Boxer's name now. DES even has an article saying that if SKT gets 6 loses, then Boxer would be an insult to the SKT.
SKT really don't seem to have done well in the all kill format this time around.
Also although I'm annoyed that SKT lost again (well not annoyed, more dissappointed), I'm actually as a Flash fan (oh god what am I saying as an SKT fan) glad that he beat Fantasy. Fantasy should seriously start meching in TvT, because every game I've seen of him other than on that Akanoid game that he won, he always seems to rely on the hellion, marine drop which always seems to fail and puts him far behind (although he did get 14 SCV kills, Flash was on 2 base) and he can't seem to ever recover from it.
He either wins with the drop or manages to force a base trade, outside of that his engagements are always really woeful against one of the good meching terrans as he always gets forced into bad ones. Flash completely destroyed him that game and I'm glad finally Flash is showing promise again in TvT
For the benefit of the guy who wants to see spoiler free vods. It's my thoughts on one of the later sets.
Just got home from a 12-hour, extremely stressful work day, but seeing these results just put a huge smile on my face and made my day. :D <3<3<3 Flash!

Edit: right in case you dont know how long till it ends, i think its somewhere between july and august? i am not really sure but today they are finishing up round 2 out of 6, after which they still have the playoffs. So i am not sure about exact dates but there is a lot of content still coming out. easily worth it imo

flash is really good. KT has a lot of good zergs and protosses so Flash gets a lot of practice in these matchups. Today was a good assurance that Flash's TvT is also up to standard. In the interview, he said he was able to get some help from Ryung, which undoubtedly helped a lot because the next best terran on KT is Mind, who hasn't been performing that well.

Dang It! It is less than dollar per moth filled with games. If I only knew earlier. Why there isn't big fat teamliquid e-sports initiative to promote this?
