Was exciting to watch, and really cool to see Stephano play (and play well!). I think EG-TL did really good.

Oh, the usual. I bowl. Drive around. The occasional acid flashback.

wasnt watching after the game of stephano against bbyong, i thought he would make it. Sad that he didnt win for the team but still 2 wins is fine for the first showing. to send jyp is a "ok-decision" in my opinion and its also quite ok to lose against a zerg on this map. Next game EGTL will definetely win! GG

e:Feel bad for JYP going to play on this map and losing to ling runbys, maybe he didnt prepare enough for this map, but still GG EGTL!

it's me or terran stop winning once they started playing in a GSTL format instead of the proleague one.
61% PvT 51% TvZ 42% ZvP
seems that since kespa players like mutaling and don't abuse infestors, the matchup is currently balanced for them?
(lol at Ohana 8-2 for protoss)

you should definitely try to use an even smaller sample size in order to talk about balance. Should be more convincing then ^^

Considering he's the player Kespa protoss studied from and probably continue to do so, no. No I don't think so. And Bisu wasn't overrated.

He was overrated by the time BeSt became Ace material, Bisu was no where near Jangbi, or even Stork's level of success during that period.

He was however the best PvZ player in the world and one of the greatest influences to the overall protoss game. Same with HerO. That and the fact that HerO continues to do well in tournaments show that HerO is not overrated by any means. He might be inconsistent and nerves get to him but in terms of skill and potential he's the best player on EGTL and one of the very best in the world. At least in my book. The only problems are his inconsistency and mentality.
When HerO is comfortable and confident, he just beats almost everybody.

Pretty sure Fantasy is SKT1's Ace, if not their best player

Wow aside from bbyong none of these KeSPA players are even I'm code s. How did they beat the likes of code s players like Huk and stephano? And what happened to the TL portion of EGTL? Anyone have a clue as to why liquid hero or Taeja wasn't sent out? Were the TL players elsewhere at that moment?

I don't know about Taeja, but JD just game back from the U.S and was probably very jet-lagged and tired. Not the ideal conditions for an ace match.

maybe they were not the right picks for the situation? Don't make a drama if one time there is no TL player used... jeez!

are we talking about broodwar or sc2 because bisu has the record for most win in proleague with 63 wins in a season, combine that with his 3 msl wins and him revolutionising pvz i dont think he is overated. in sc2 he is chobo.

Let's go through each player and choose the best possible ace:
HerO - Nervous as fuck in the booth, not confident in his own play recently, very emotional player. Admits PvZ is his worst match-up recently. Lost to Hydra in round 1 of Proleague.
TaeJa - Had an electrical acupuncture 3 days ago. Probably not able to play to his full ability.
Zenio - Known to be extremely nervous in the booth. Likes to be played first if possible. Probably not the best choice.
DeMusliM - In America.
HuK - Just got placed into Code S 2 days ago. Won against fellow KeSPA player Flying in his Up & Down group. Good choice to be sent out against herO, but probably didn't practice on the Neo version of Bifrost, which explains the botched forcefields.
IdrA - In America.
Jaedong & PuMa - Just arrived in Korea from the Kingston Hyper X 10 year anniversary tournament in Korea. Most likely jetlagged as fuck, didn't even show up to the studio. Probably sleeping right now.
JYP - 70% win rate against Zerg in the GSL, showed great form against SKT... until he played against soO on the exact same map.
Revival - played first, unable to play again.
Stephano - lost against Hydra.
ThorZaIN - practicing HotS close to daily on stream...

Looking at these options, it's a choice between Zenio and JYP... Both amazing against Zerg, but JYP gets less nervous than Zenio, he was clearly the best choice available. It's just a shame that Caldeum was the last map instead of Ohana.

No. You need to take the map into account. You NEED to. That's what ProLeague is based on. Not just who is doing good right now, who is nervous or not, who is jetlagged etc. If EG-TL wants to do better they need to seriously start taking maps into account and preparing really hard for individual maps, picking snipers and so on. This is what adds a whole 'nother layer of depth to team leagues and why it's so interesting and fun to watch. The fact that this is nothing new to Kespa teams is a big advantage toi have over EG-TL, even though on paper their line-ups might be (and most would agree) considerably weaker.

I know that there is consensus amongst alot of observers of Starcraft that designing specific strategies for certain maps and developing specific builds for certain players matters a great deal - but the truth is that it actually doesn't. Most "map strategies" are figured out, and if they aren't figured out, then you need be insanely creative to figure them out which isn't always something you can just do.

Also most players don't have so obviously flaws that you can just develop counter-builds to beat them.

Another horrible match for EG TL, having advantage 2 times and losing in 7th game... I won't speculate on why specific players played bad but HUK and JYP.... no comment. I don't care JYP won two games last match, he is still sub par. And the last game he didn't fucking know the map ! Rocks at the back with less armor, bad timing with cannon, omg that screamed horrible lack of map knowledge, no excuse for that, that is just being badly prepared, plain and simple, being bad....
