How many people here ripped January when they sent Shine out as ace earlier today? Seriously, if you guys want to make the player decision. You can try to apply for the job. But don't be surprised when you get laughed at.
Plus, I think (like the IM coach) this is done to give a player encouragement or extra support.
JYP is not the most popular player (he's not as popular as Jaedong, Stephano, Taeja, etc), despite the fact that he has shown and proven himself to be a capable player.
I think JYP was sent out as extra encouragement and support for the player.
It's background stuff.
While it may not mean stuff, maybe it might help JYP give the motivation to do better and practice more.
Also, maybe JYP is good in his practice games too.
There are a lot of reasons.
Also, I highly doubt the coach is EG bias or anything (it's probably a coincidence that today was an all EG team).
Finally I think it's good that the coach trusts and supports all his/her players. (It's better than benching a player all the time just because they're like 10% worse than other players.) Again, it might also have its benefits too (like extra encouragement and motivation) too.
There's a lot of background stuff.

Hero is still 100 times better overall than JYP and also he is really good vs Zerg. Hero would have stomped Hydra with his monitor closed and hands tied to his back. Even Taeja would have won. And Jaedong eats GSL zergs for breakfast. HOW TF can you send out JYP in this situation? What did the other players worked and won points for? So all would go down the drain by a really stupid coach decision? i don't give a fuck about what hero is.
i ask what would you say if hero would lose in the ace match? he was known for quite some time for being a big choker.
JYP wins matches no one gives a fuck. he loses "OMG WHY SEND HIM OUT" already forgot the 2 kills vs SKT?
oh and Hero already lost to hydra last round. but yeah. no monitor stomp.

So yeah that left JYP, a decent toss with once-great PvZ on a protoss map.

depends on what you are walling against. It's shouldn't be just taken for granted that you should be able to ffe every single game and block with the same 3 buildings you know -_- it's amazing how boring people get with out realizing that mind games is super important. Hero[join] went 4 gate robo on Arkanoid vs a zerg earlier today and won.

Taeja couldn't play. I may be wrong, but I believe that Jaedong was unable to play. Hero has lost his last 3 Proleague games and went 2-3 in his U&D matches.

Those rocks dropped ridiculously quickly. he saw the rocks as they were on like 80% hp, 5 seconds later dropped a cannon and it wasn't finished when the rocks fell. It's almost impossible for a protoss to FFE on that map without lings getting into their base. I don't see how he could've prevented that happening unless he premptively put down a cannon expecting it to happen.
I have a feeling on future ZvPs on that map, protoss will gateway - 3 gate expand, forge just doesn't work on that map as shown by Shine's game and Hydra's going almost the same way.
JYP played brilliantly to hold everything off while attempting to minimize damage, there was a point where he had 11 workers lost and like 10 lings got into his main and he fought them with probes - he only lost 4-5 more probes and Hydra was left with 2 lings.
He had definitely been practicing on Caldeum though, he had his main entrance defended as well as the assimilator and then when the lings didnt hit the main he almost instantly put down a cannon ~ 5 seconds after noticing the rocks.
again, in future games we'll either see Protoss not picked on Caldeum or gateway expands, which in turn could still result in protoss having a hard time securing their natural.

Fortunately, some people have said that when two players are close in skill, the one who has a higher level of confidence can be the better pick.

Nah, Hydra slowling rushed HerO in the first round and won in 10 minutes, it was not even funny (because I'm a TL fan T T)

Can you explain HuK, please? And HerO does NOT have the worst nerves of all. He DOES get visibly emotional, but yet he has a habit of winning championships even under those nerves. I think we should play winners.
And what's wrong with Thorzain for the ace? If Taeja really is out of commission, playing Puma or Thorzain on that map isn't too bad.
I don't think playing JYP is the worst decision by far, I just think it's clear enough that it's not the BEST decision. Play HerO, if you can't play Taeja. Put some faith in him. He beat Stephano not too long ago in a BO5, I think, on his way to a championship (the details are fuzzy, but basically I'm not afraid when he plays against Zergs even though he somehow has this reputation for that being his weakest matchup).

JD just got back from a tournament in the US and had to play U&D a few hours after landing yesterday. Which means he had 0 time to prepare for PL.
You know, for someone who is so sure the coach knows nothing. You don't seem to know shit about the players.
