Life, Parting, Mvp and Rain so nope. life, parting and rain only had an impact on the past few months. stephano has been dominating all year. only guy i'd give it to over stephano would be MVP Dominating foreign tourneys, especially euro tourneys with very few koreans at them doesn't count. Stephano also hasn't been dominating anything lately. No way he deserves player of the year over a korean. such an annoying argument. Stephano beats koreans at every damn tournament. and not just koreans, the best koreans. every tournament he is in, he is a threat to win. you have to win foreign tournaments to be up for the player of the year because there are only what, 5 GSLs? No Koreans other than MVP kept such a high level of play for such a long time. And Stephano won LSC2 just a month ago, got 3rd at ESWC the week before that and nearly reverse all killed Team Korea at the GSL WC last weekend. Dude is still playing fantastic. when looking at the whole year, MVP and Stephano are the two best choices. I would have went with MVP, but Stephano is deserving.
Ok here's what I think
#1 Mvp #2 DRG #3 Leenock OR Stephano
Mvp for being the only player to make two GSL finals, and the only Terran player to make a gsl finals/win a GSL in 2012, plus his IEM victory.
DRG for his GSL win at the start of the year, his two second place finishes in the Winter Arena/Winter Champs, his first place finishes in Spring Arena 2 and the Spring Championship. Another Code S ro4 in GSL S3, and 2nd place in the OSL.
In fact I might even place DRG ahead of Mvp.
Leenock - GSL RO8x2 MLG Summer Championship 1st, MLG Fall Championship 2nd, IPL5 1st.
Stephano - Assembly Winter 2nd, Spring Arena 3rd, NASL S3 1st, WCS EU 1st, Lone Star Clash 2 1st, ESWC 3rd.
Probably Stephano over Leenock because Leenock didn't do much for the first half of the year.

wow, surprisingly good engagement by hero.

Life, Parting, Mvp and Rain so nope. well. looking over all of 2012, I think a decent argument can be made for Stephano. He did change the ZvP metagame in the start of the year, and have consistently been at the very top of the game through out the year.
Rain changed the PvP metagame and has been at the actual (ie Korea) top of the game. Mvp changed TvZ metagame and has done the same as well.
WCS Europe != top of the game.

Just going to pull a top 10 list out of my ass.
1. MVP 2. DRG 3. Leenock (pretty interchangeable with 4) 4. Life 5. Taeja: The Summer of Taeja was incredible Starcraft 6. Stephano: People are forgetting just how good he was for a while. 7. Gumiho: Clutch teamleague monster, 2 GSTL titles 8. MC: Always there or thereabouts, however he is very inconsistent. 9. Seed: Broke the Protoss duck in GSL. 10. HerO: Consistently good play
I'd stick in Rain, but he's not been around for the whole year. He's also just dropped to Code B. If he showed the kind of play we've seen from him so far, over a longer period he'd 100% be in here.

I feel that DRG probably edges out MVP by a bit for player of the year. When I look for the player of the year I tend to consider many things such as achievements, dominance, consistency, effect on metagame etc.

Player of the Year: Stephano
No brainer, especially pre-EG Stephano.

The ultimate protoss question: Do I make a 4th or just go attack the guy?

when people talk about stephano playing bad right now, its been like a 3 week period. and he nearly reverse all killed team korea last weekend so, can we really say he's slumping? with drg it seems like the whole second half of the year has been meh.
i would have leenock right up there as well.

This is exactly what violet wanted... trade well with roaches and replace with end game army. OK n/m violet just wins with roaches.

This is the second time hero gets collosi stuck there

Mvp gets a small bonus for playing the weakest race I guess, I think I would still barely barely favor DRG, his achievement list this year is just longer.
