Where was Life/Rain or to an extent Parting before September?? It's the player of the YEAR, not the player of our short term memory

Parting got 1 GSL top 8 and 1 GSL top 4 before September....

So did many else, that's just a lame argument

Actually not really. Very few players have gotten a top 8 and top 4 in GSL this year. Pretty much Taeja, MVP, Parting, DRG, and I can't think of anyone else.

I'm just ranking based on games I've seen recently, which is why I didn't include Mvp. It's not a " best player of this year " ranking

Yeah, these unofficail rankings are based off of best at this very best moment. If it was best overall, no one touches MVP.

Right at this moment, yes. Overall he really shouldn't be top 10. Sadly people always seem to forget there is a difference between momentum/momentary shape and actual skill and that's why we have these "Who is the best xyz in the world" all over again every couple days.

Even at the moment he isn't. Ryung, Bogus, Flash, Gumiho, and Polt are all more deserving of that title.

Ryung based on his GSL run or? cause outside his GSL run he hasn't done much of anything. He beat a MKP who completely fell apart in the ro8 and took 2nd place in both his groups in the ro32/16

Yeah I remembered MC as well. So 6 players have. Still obviously very very hard.

I'd have to think about who I would give player of the year to because no player has consistently dominated for the entire year. Every top korean had variance in their play throughout the entire year.
Top 10 favourite pros: MKP, MVP, MC, Nestea, DRG, Jaedong, Flash, Life, Creator, Leenock

HerO.

Not number one, but he's perhaps a top 10. Been a consistent presence all year, and an unbelievably good run recently.

3rd: WCS Korea
Top 8: Battlenet World Championship
1st: Dreamhack Winter
9-12th: IPl5
Made the IronSquid live finals

life, parting and rain only had an impact on the past few months. stephano has been dominating all year. only guy i'd give it to over stephano would be MVP

Dominating foreign tourneys, especially euro tourneys with very few koreans at them doesn't count. Stephano also hasn't been dominating anything lately. No way he deserves player of the year over a korean.

such an annoying argument. Stephano beats koreans at every damn tournament. and not just koreans, the best koreans. every tournament he is in, he is a threat to win. you have to win foreign tournaments to be up for the player of the year because there are only what, 5 GSLs?

No Koreans other than MVP kept such a high level of play for such a long time. And Stephano won LSC2 just a month ago, got 3rd at ESWC the week before that and nearly reverse all killed Team Korea at the GSL WC last weekend. Dude is still playing fantastic.

when looking at the whole year, MVP and Stephano are the two best choices. I would have went with MVP, but Stephano is deserving.
