This guy made it out of the group stage of WCG 2012 as an underdog, beating Adelscott, fraer, KiLLeR and JimRising. He was also on the verge of 2-0ing the Battle.net world champion but dropped the ball, lost 1 - 2 and graciously shook his opponent's hand in defeat. CombatEX already has better tournament results now than a lot of professional players. Call WCG in its modern day a "joke tournament" as much as you like, it's going to look pretty good if you hit the quarterfinals and lost narrowly in a close series to the greatest Protoss in the world. This was also two to three months after returning from a hiatus. I say if WCG has any honor left they should just ban people like combatex... did he cheat in the series? no was his game entertaining? yes Almost an upset? yes Did he bm? No, technically. unless you think typing in game is BM. Standard game doesn't always produce the interesting game and that is what's wrong with SC2 right now. I would prefer to watch that series 1 time than PvZ 10 times I'm not talking about this game, somebody who has cheated in the past shouldn't even be allowed to try to qualify. Combatex got enough "2nd" chances from this community, in fact he has enough to probably give ever member of tl one, WCG, or any tournament organizer for that matter, should not allow someone like that to even play in their tournaments. And thats not even taking to account how much of a cheating sack of shit he was in star 1... The fact that there are people within this community even defending someone like that is just fucking sad. If our community would have been in charge of savior's punishment he would probably be winning gsls atm... Sorry if I'm in any way derailing the thread's topic but I want to address these points. First, given numerous second chances by whom and in what context? To my knowledge TL only permanently banned him once. I gathered this because I did a search on Google for this simple query: site:teamliquid.net "Combat-EX was just banned" This came up with two results. The first was the only ban I could find which was one during 2010 where he was permabanned over spamming iNcontroL on stream. Feel free to corrrect me if I was wrong but did CombatEX also The second result I found on Google was from The Automated Ban List, a discussion thread about the hilarity of the ban list. CombatEX also tried to make a second account called "CombatEX" to try and bypass the ban which was nuked upon its creation by a banling, saying he wasn't welcome on the site. Unless I am wrong, are Combat-EX and CombatEX his only TL accounts? And what about the claim Kennigit made that CombatEX faked illness to solicit donations? I found no concrete evidence of this having occured and this is something that CombatEX has vehemently denied ever happening. I mean we all know he used to stream cheat, he did wintrade on iCCup in 2009 and that he was at one point SERIOUSLY BM, I mean beyond IdrA level. CombatEX also claimed to have only made two serious attempts to apologise for his actions on TL which also contradicts what Kennigit said about his apology video of around a year ago being the same as all his others. Forgive me for being naive about this if it turns out he was an even more gigantic asshole than I made him out to be, I wasn't around in the Brood War days and even now I feel a bit of skepticism considering we've forgiven figures in our community before (such as MioWeRRa a.k.a. Dragon, Spades, DIMAGA and TT1) for worse things. Second, let's say we follow Lorch's advice and blacklist anybody who has ever cheated in the past. Wouldn't that be a bit extreme? Wouldn't that be giving a massive "fuck you" to people who legitimately try to turn their act around and bury the hatchet of their past actions? Plus, this is forgetting a very big point. It's what Day[9] said in one of his dailies. There's a saying that every five years someone becomes a completely different person. Plus CombatEX was much younger back then, only last month he stopped being a teenager and turned 20. Back then, TL is full of elites, not enough noobs, and not enough challenging different voice for Combat-EX. With B or B+ on iccup which was very good, Combat-EX was considered noob on TL. You do know that he's only ever legitimately reached C rank on iCCup. When he'd get raped against anyone higher then that, and trust me, it happened a lot, he'd offer you free wins from his other account in return for you leaving that game. He did it to me multiple times in the ladder. Beyond that, it seems like the majority of people on this "FREE COMBAT-EX" bandwagon have next to no knowledge of what he was like, what he did in the past, and his general behaviour. I know plenty, I've been here for 6 or 7 years already. All he did wrong is in practice, and ladder. Lots of pros cheated in decent tournaments. Remember 2009 Pokerstrategy TSL, about 20 or so top players got disqualified for cheating on ladder to qualify, off the top of my head, Dimaga, F91. That's out there in the open, definitely there is a lot more undiscovered. That's far worse than cheating in practice. He cheated in practice, has cheated last month IN A TOURNAMENT AGAINST NVYOONYJ, cheated on ladder, and lied to many people on his own youtube channel about his rank, while asking for donations so he can keep doing his terrible videos. Good job for not doing any research. Please stop with the hyperbole. At least half of the crap you said about CombatEX has been complete horse-shit. I have seen nothing on his YouTube soliciting donations. + Show Spoiler + The VODs in question from CombatEX's channel: Here (in the Spoiler tag) are the only two videos he posted on his YouTube after announcing he was going to come back for five months. Can anybody say to me when he solicits donations? Because I must be missing something here. These are analytical FPVODs, which he has now done 29 of since he's made his more legitimate return to StarCraft in around September/October 2011. I am unsure about who to believe on the YoonYJ story. I question whether CombatEX would be stupid enough to try and blag his way to an attempted 2 - 0 "win" over YoonYJ when the rules of the cup he was in explicitly states that replays must be submitted as proof. And after he would have fought through the bracket before reaching YoonYJ in the finals. Plus is there any indication it's the real CombatEX who competed? I think there may be a few players who might smurf as CombatEX and he could have been mixed up as the real one. Again, I'd like to see more proof before making a judgement. Also, when has he cheated in practice in the past year. This isn't early 2011 anymore!

Don't get on your high horse for stream cheating when other players who have done far worse have been forgiven. Both are wrong, one is worse than the other. i never cheated in a bw tournament cus we didnt have any, the only "tourney" was wgtcl. a prize-less clan league : )

The fact that he still feels the need to stream snipe is saddening as well. Look, I'm all for him getting a second (third?) chance, but I think people need to realize that not much has changed, and that the shit he did in the past was at least comparable to, if not worse than, the shit Dimaga, Yosh, and others have done.
