None of the qualified players have a GSL win under their belt, afaik none of them have alot of (individual) booth experience. This just became the Rookie GSL Championship. I like it. actually this couldn't go better, I love new talent, anyone has my blessing at this point. Though I predict Sniper might be the strongest going into this. This win over Leenock should definitely be counted as one of the strongest performances this season. Ryung's TvZ has been extensively tested in the ro16 vs Curious and DRG, they might not be comparable to Life or Leenock but they are still top zergs. Since he came through against them, I feel like he has a good shot. Even though Sniper's on fire right now and he will be feeling pretty good that he got through so comfortable against Leenock. his TvT has also been tested vs Polt but he did lose to Innovation 1-2 in the ro16. My feelings tell me Ryung is even better than Innovation. This might be a real powerstruggle versus 2 up and comers in Code S. Hyun vs Innovation is a total gamble match for me, I'm still not sure about Hyun's form, even though he's been tearing through alot of good opponents, he did rack up some losses too. He took out Creator and Leenock convincingly and proved to understand ZvP and ZvZ to their core. But he lost to Yoda twice and Marineking once this season so clearly his TvZ is the underdog here. Innovation lost vs Leenock but won vs Sniper later on and then completely destroyed Soulkey. It's almost like Innovation is learning TvZ by playing the GSL. Ofcourse these zergs differ in skill, but they all made at least the quarterfinals, these are good players. I'm sure this will also be a very exciting matchup, who will shine the hardest? I'm going with Ryung vs Hyun finals. Just for interest Ryung 5-2 (12-7) Sniper 5-2 (13-6) Hyun 5-2 (13-7) Innovation 5-1 (11-3) Innovation clearly has the best record going into this, the others actually all came second in both group stages (ro32, ro16)

In season 1 the two finalists Genius and DRG met three times, once in ro32 (Genius won), once in ro16 (DRG won) and again in final. In season 2 Squirtle only lost one map (to MMA) before the final. In season 3 Seed lost to Byun in the ro32 but then got revenge in the semi-final. Last season Life reached the final by only losing two maps en route (one to Seed and one to MKP). This season there has been no-one who has been so consistently impressive. They have all needed a bit of luck to get to the semis. Squirtle, Seed, and Life were all new (or fairly new in Seed's case) to code S but that didn't detract anything. My post had nothing to do with the fan-favourites being eliminated. I've had two replies to my post, one accusing me of "talking out of [my] ass" and the second telling me to "Get over it". Maybe my post had a negative attitude towards this season of GSL but I don't understand why it was so bad. clearly you didnt watch or appreciate good terran play (which is surprising regardless of your race due to current trends), because Bogus didnt 'luck' his way to ro4. he executes near-perfectly.

(if that makes sense) There just wasn't awesome incredible plays from the winners, the losers just completely messed up and got smashed. I disagree to a degree. Bogus had incredible play. His opponents didn't simply mess up and lose. Leenock had great play coming into the Ro8.

Boring for me since I don't care for any of these players =/ when someone says top5 terran or zerg, Ryung and Hyun are not names that come to mind. Not my mind anyway. Not saying I dislike them, just not interested in their play. Much grats for making top4 and everything though. edit: guess I haven't seen enough of innovation's play for the above to apply to him, looks like I'll be cheering for him ![]()

This. Other than in the Leenock series, there have been so many moments of genius level play from Bogus; this GSL season has been a real treat. Given all of the problems Terran are having with Zerg for any Terran to make the TvZ matchup look even mildly Terran favored is the mark of an absolutely first rate player. Subject to the caveat that the sample size isn't that big, this is the best post-patch TvZ play I've seen.

He's like DRG on steroids -- flawless mechanics but better map awareness and late game army control. He really does look unstoppably good, especially against Terran. Also, given all of Terran's tvz woes, I think Bogus is simply a genius (and should be personally blamed if Zerg isn't nerfed in the next patch). I think Hyun and Bogus at least are definitely here to stay so it's worth investing some time and gaining an appreciation of their play because I'm guessing we're going to be seeing a lot of them in coming GSLs. Edit: Where I say "unstoppably good" above, I mean in the Fight Club series. It blows my mind that he actually dropped two series in this GSL to Terrans. I think he was off his game (although credit needs to be extended to Yoda and MKP, of course).

Given that i like Hyun a lot i hope for Hyun vs Ryung in the finals, although i'm sure the most awesome games we can get will happen if it comes to Ryung vs Bogus. That is on the average, because in TvZ some games can be pretty boring to watch while others are great. I've observed that whenever a TvT happens most of the games get highly recommended, and that is for a good reason. TvZ on the other hand people are sometimes biased a bit too much. Whenever a zerg wins with Broodlord/Infestor a lot of people will vote for a bad game, although that isn't necessary always true.
