I'm still of the opinion that Stephano is the better Zerg, but he needs to stop fucking around and play in GSL already.

As much as I am for the whole thing that Stephano is without a doubt Code S caliber.... just no

How is Life better because he won one tournament, while Stephano has been consistently producing results for a year? The GSL bias is kinda ridiculous sometimes.

2-0 NesTea
2-0 JYP
2-0 Happy
2-1 Seed
3-1 MarineKing
3-0 TaeJa
4-3 Mvp

Add to that the fact that he crushes online tournaments and qualifiers (TSL4 2nd place? Not bad. Also he earned his Code A spot online), his 9-2 GSTL record with ZeNEX the previous season... yeah

I like Stephano but you can't possibly argue he's better than Life. Life is probably the best zerg on the planet at the moment, with DongRaeGu, Leenock and Symbol having faltered quite a bit.

Stephano does very poorly vs people who have prepared extensively for him and does well in ladder-style tournaments like MLG. In the GSL you will have an entire team of people dedicated to figuring out how to abuse your style (which stephano is rooted in 100%, he is a stylist player) and how to counter it most effectively. Honestly I would not expect stephano to do well at all in the GSL, he`s simply not the kind of player who will excel in those circumstances.

That being said, if all zergs would plan out their attacks like stephano does then i doubt we`d ever see a less than 90% zerg win rate in tournaments.

That's the thing though. Haven't people been studying Stephano for over a year now? And they still can't stop him? I think he's best Zerg. I can't call Life the best Zerg yet. He won tonight and got 2nd in TSL4, but other than that, he doesn't have many results. Yeah he's always been good, but doesn't have too many results.

Ridiculous. Stephano needs to compete with the best to be judged the best. All he does is skirt around the fray.

He's an awesome player but calling him best is stupid.

exactly

Stephano is FAR inferior compared to life, looks like people didnt even watch this GSL. Jesus, some fans are so blind. I love stephano myself but you cant deny that life is superior

Kind of off topic, but I'm completely blown away by the fact that they played Tristan Prettyman during the winning picture collage.

Amazing artist but so unknown.

This pretty much sums up my feelings.

I feel so frustrated because I wanted him to win so bad, but at the same time I'm comforted that he lost due to poor play and not due to any balance shenanigans.

Well all in all, MVP did do well with that counter. He clearly is a thinking player. Life, on his part, looked like a total monster and I had little doubt that he would lose to MVP. Whenever his drone count was untouched his victories looked one-sided and that does tell a lot.
As for the balance, I don't really enjoy the variety of SC2, it is poor. But I totally agree with Artosis blog post, SC was not balanced before BW at all too. Let us see if HoTs makes us stay and enjoy SC2 the way we all did BW. Cause if not, I shall be sad.

The thing I've come to realize is that most people don't really know the scene that well, they just follow the most popular players and assume that because they're popular they're also the best. (which is probably true for Mvp)

Such a stupid logic, but what are you going to do.

haha. Can you be a sc2 fan and not be GSL "biased". You cant compare anything stephano has won to a GSL trophy.

So by that logic jjakji is more accomplished than marineking. Yes winning GSL is huge and certanly bigger than anyhting Stephano or Leenock won, but in the great scheme of things I still consider those guys to be better zerg-players. Life has yet to prove that he can produce results like that on a consistent basis and therefore isn't the "best zerg" YET imo.

No, losing the army would be disastrous. He thought he could get out before Life responded, he overextended and paid for it.

I would say that, at the moment, life is the best zerg in the world. I would say that Stephano is the most consistent, since he's been doing so well for so long.

You also have to remember that the GSL does in fact, have the best conditions and highest density of skilled players in any tournament. And Stephano has never played in it. Life has, and he won it. The people he knocked out weren't pushovers, either.

Yes, he did lose thors. But he had to do it. Even if he didn't, he would have had 30 roaches charging into his fourth and his tank count wasn't high enough. The reason why mech is so fragile is the thor/tank balance. Mvp choose to be thor heavy and Life made him pay with the roaches. If he went tank heavy, Life could mass mutas. It is pretty much a pick your poison.
