CSL will be announcing qualifier details this weekend.

Why not do an open portion on site? It wouldn't really cost you anything and would give players who aren't as well known a chance. The qualifier doesn't really do this since a korean will win it...

a) I'm not organizing this

b) Saying that an open on-site LAN doesn't cost anything is really dumb. You have to provide computers, internet, power, and staffing for 64+ people. That's actually really fucking expensive, lol

Ok I guess it would cost something, but it can't be that much. Volunteers are staff, and its a college campus, I assume the internet, power, and computers wouldn't be all that difficult.

It is not easy and requires so much man power to run an open bracket before. It would be a logistical nightmare. Look at MLG they have a player bracket before hand and it gets crazy and they are a organization dedicated to running tournaments. This is a college organization raising funds by promising the sponsors a certain amount of dedicated viewership and at this point in time no namers just don't bring the view count like invitations do.

Lets say it does happen and an open bracket is made - how many players will come out on their own dime, house themselves on a whim or a chance they can be noticed by the community. On top of that what will be the viewership be like. everything comes down to the community and this community doesn't protect its own, pitchforks and wild comments without consideration of what the staff have put in come out and i frankly don't care for any attacks on TESPA. those kids have put so much into esports and to see a small grassroots competition to even be able to reach out to and attract well known players blows me away.

You want an open bracket competition goswser I'd love to see you start it and I'd love to see it grow. Because maybe then you can understand why what TESPA has done is so amazing to this community.

Great tournament last time, and I think this should be a repeat performance. I hope Polt can make it at least, he was the other finalist next to Stephano, so it's just courtesy to invite him.

Goswser just wants an excuse to go to austin and maybe win a tournament.

I don't blame him. LSC1 was great fun as a CSL competitor.

Whoops I guess it isn't this time. And no I'm not hating on the event. I enjoyed the last event very much and I'm sure this one will be phenomenal as well. I'm just very disappointed that while last event had a lot of smaller name players mixed in who could try to make a name for themself this one seems to have changed its direction.
