We are proud to announce the Stim to the Win Tournament! An Invite-Tournament especially dedicated to the Terran players and fans among you guys!
But what is the Stim to the Win Tournament?
Let us explain it: Tired of seeing ZvZ in every tournament? We are, too! That's why we brought this cup to life! The special part about the SttW Tournament is the amount of Terrans we invited.
In numbers: 24(!) out of 32 players in total. That's right; we invited 24 Terrans, 4 Protoss and 4 Zergs, so that we can finally see some Terran games again. The cup will be separated into a group stage and a grid stage.
We will start with the group stage on the 6th of September at 08.00 PM CEST next Thursday with Group 1. Group 2 will be playing on the next day, September 7th at 05.00 PM CEST. Dennis 'TaKe' Gehlen, Bastian 'SaltTheWound' Brouwers and Sivano 'NarutO' Bovo will be your hosts for the complete tournament. The tournament will be casted in German.
After the group stage is done, the grid stage will start with the l6 remaining players in a single elimination mode. There's no schedule yet for the Grid-Stage, but we will keep you guys informed, of course!
We also managed to set up a total prize-pool of $1,800, which is pretty nifty for an online-event. The money will be divided as listed below:
1. $1,000 2. $500 3 $300
So get your “GO TERRAN” foam fingers ready and don't forget to tune in on the 6th of September at 08.00 PM CEST on the upcoming Thursday at www.TaKeTV.net!
And last but not least, we wanted to thank our sponsors for their support. Without them, the tournament wouldn't be possible!
Haha, wow. I love the idea as recent qualifiers have been rather 1 sided. If there are a Z/P Z/Z or Z/P finals I'll be laughing until I cry. Thanks for this, should be good. It's funny that people are coming out of the woodwork as actually liking the GOMTvT months after viewing the alternative.

It's more that people like diversity, which we don't see when one race is hogging spots.
With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised by a Z/P or Z/Z finals. Not because of a racial imbalance, but because they invited some really good Zergs and Protoss. Only a few of the terrans on this list are really good enough to be favored over many of the Z/Ps.
So funny, Take always has great ideas and just goes with it :D. I'll definately watch it, great invites for the non terran part of the lineup too, especially Stephano and Nerchio are scary as can be.
I think it's easy to call nerchio-stephano finals tbh. Of course it won't happen everytime, but if someone seriously expects one specific terran in final he's delusional. There's just no terran in lineup that is on same level as the two zergs.

No i expect a Zerg or Toss winner. Look at the Terrans they invited.....

forGG, Kas, Strelok, Happy, Kas, Lucifron-- all capable of taking games off of any P / Z in the tournament. Should be good.
Stephano / Nerchio finals TT And it won't have much to do with balance, because these two fellas are actually simply better than all the other players right here, and because as we all know, foreign terrans aint best terran
I can't even start to imagine the amount of bans that there will be in the LR thread of this tournament, moderators are going to hate Take ^^. Concerning the terran line up I think that's almost the best you can find in Europe, ForGG (millenium house), Kas and Lucifron are all really good. Naama and Fuzer can also suprise. Despite that it wouldn't surprise me to have Nerchio vs Stephano, these two are just way better than the rest.
I took all terrans i had in mind in Europe beside Thorzain he is the only one i think must be in it from europe but beside that, thier are only "could be" but no must. So actually the very best european terrans are fighting against some of the very best zerg/toss.
So does it make to complain about "not that good terrans in it"?
Sure in korea we have top terrans but we are talking about the foreigner scene
Awesome to see Brat_Ok play though. Was a huge fan of him in BW, and had a beer of rememberance on the tragic day that he swiched to SC2. Now that I am starting to transfer my viewership to SC2 it makes me glad to see him present in tournies. Go Brat!
Poor DBS gets his group of death once again :< As a big fan of TvT, I approve of this tourney hopefully it won't be a ZvP final (I'm guessing ZvX, since i don't see anybody taking down Stephano).
The only things that can stop Stephano from winning this is Nerchio and himself (by not showing up at all, he loves to just noshow in online tournaments).

It has almost all of the best EU Terrans, I'm actually surprised you guys managed to get all of them to play. It's just that Nerchio and Stephano are so good that there's still a pretty good chance of seeing at least one of them in the finals regardless.
I'm hoping for a Kas or ForGG vs. Stephano finals, but we'll see.
It would be interesting to see a poll about the final match-up. If the bracket is structured as i think it is, imo the upper finalist will almost certainly be Z. The lower finalist will probably be Happy or Luci.
Lol, this is so awesome! TakeTV delivers again, foreign scene has been starving for terran talent for quite some time.
Great effort guys, I'll definitely tune in. TvT has been getting quite aggresive lately, so it will be interesting to see how so many different pro players are handeling it.
I´m looking forward to this since i know that it is going to happen. TaKe Cast with his awesome guest is always the highlight of the Day for me, and TaKe loves to cast a lot Terran Match-Ups.
Also, i want that DBS survive the Group Stage... :D
Let´s have a good evening with soem Terran Action!
OMG stephano vs forGG that sounds like a good game to watch, i fucking love the idea behind this, its hilarious ahahhaah, stim to win what a good name
terrans mechanics have gotten to the point were they do triple drops and micro them all and its such a joy to watch but you never see terrans anymore so im hoping to watch some good games danke!
Without understanding much of the stream, it's still very funny to hear their intentional references to the recent publicity (I suppose I call it that) through accentuating "Schtarkraft" and other words. ^_^ I always used to hear from people that had either learned german or were indeed from a german speaking country that it is a pretty inexpressive language spoken in monotone. Take, HasuObs and others, you always disprove that theory/comment. (Note that I'm not only talking about the references, rather all of the commentating)
Actually, I'm going to edit this again to point out that it's interesting how german language speakers mostly prefer either English commentary or would otherwise prefer german with german names and terms used rather than 'probe' and others while koreans used to playing Brood War would rather that Starcraft II was commentated with English names, as that is what they were used to. Meanwhile, MVP gets headaches when listening to the English voices!
We watched the replay of the game. While attacking he had 1700 minerals and 900 gas 80 drones. Strelok was on 4 base with over 70 scvs and killed Stephanos army. 8 Roaches left about to die and 4 blue flame hellions in Stehpanos kind of undefended 3rd base. He would have dropped below 100 supply . It was an early leave, but not too early. I think the game was lost.
Awesome idea. My bets are on Stephano, Nerchio and Hasuobs for top 3. Hasuobs has the best PvT in Europe, not many Terrans in EU can beat him in a bo3, even less so in a bo5. And Nerchio and Stephano are just the 2 best players in Europe currently.

Mana and Naniwa would like to say eeeelo
Mana and Naniwa for place 4 and 5 and then ForGG takes 6th place and Kas 7th xD
they're playing on US server for stephano? o.O (is he in US or KR?) I understand slight lag while microing but Strelok's units were simply out of position and not fighting durring that huge engagement... He also never made a full wall??

I suppose they switch servers between games. Still, I don't know if he can blame lag for that loss

I guess Stephano is one of the only, if not the only european playing outside of Europe in this tournament.
mana and naniwa?
I dont get it either. Strelok also seemed afk, after he realized his army position was totaly off. Weird ending to an interesting series.
Those run-bys were so deadly because there was no wall to block the zerglings. Strange not to wall off. Plus he could have lifted off his 2 orbitals to save them from destruction. Failure to do these things resulted him being down to a single (secret) mining base.

Ah ok. In my opinion Hasuobs PvT is actually better then that of Mana and Naniwa. Mana and Naniwa are better in PvZ and PvP even though they don't like those matchups (well, every Toss counts PvT as his best matchup, don't they?)
On September 07 2012 05:30 Lasbike wrote: Well, ForGG doing what he's best at on ladder, cheesing :D But why not, I mean, if it works, keep doing it.
Nothing wrong with cheesing, but doing it virtually all the time means that it can be countered next time with a straightforward drone scout. Anyway ForGG wins the Group and Stephano will play the winner of Strelok vs DBS.

This HOTS Cup is going to be mental! ^^ A few days is not enough to learn all the map quirks and optimal unit compositions/uses. Players will be making it up on the fly! Haha.
The next few months are going to be a bit strange with both WoL and HOTS tournaments running.

I have a feeling in the HOTS tournament we will see the Terran domination that Take wanted for this cup. Well that is if Warhounds dont get hotfixed.

Thanks to Take and his crew for a great tournament. I enjoyed it tonight although the games were not classics. Please make sure you publicise when the other Groups are being played so folks don't miss out.

The hairwire missile thingy eat immortals. Their shield don't work against spells.
jimpo just did a 4CC into BC opening versus Tarson. Held the punishing attack and now the whole map is covered in auto-turrets, 3/3 BCs, Ravens, Vikings. You should tune in!
