Because Scarlett and Major are both already qualified for the WCS Finals they changed it so the top 9 players qualify. So Huk can still qualify. How u mean qualified? Why are they allowed to play then? Only for money? Cant understand this. I thought winning nationals only brings you to continental championship and gives you chance to qualify for global finals :/ Yeah so the winner of the US and Canada nationals (Vibe & Scarlett) get direct seeds to the global final. The top 7 other players of the Continentals also qualify for the Globals. Oh ty I understood, but still find it stupid for them to be allowed to chase money like that. Nothing wrong with chasing money. Why should those who failed to.get first at wcs Canada or us have a chance at double the prize for first while those who.won not.get any more. What annoys me is direct seeds though. Sweden doesnt get a direct seed for one and theyre the best foreigners. Or Ukraine etc. whereas Germany Canada us France China get free seeds to it The direct seeds make no sense whatsoever to give direct seeds, and for France? thats like saying "Yo, Stephano do you want 6.000$?, oh and by the way do you want a direct seed to the Grand Finals?". It's to ensure representation from the countries with the most SC2 population. Would suck if the global finals was all from just a few countries Canada? What about it Pretty sure Germany has a bigger scene, Russia probably too. It's just a freebie in order to be sure the viewership will be there... nothing to do with the SC2 population. It's about the number of SC2 copies sold in each contry.

Yeah Germany Russia Sweden should probably have got direct seeds too, still doesn't disprove the point of it. Germany and Russia did have one, socke and titan are directly in the finals.

So NA has 7 seeds for WCS World while EU has only 6. It's... surprising.

Yeah that's what I meant by SC2 population. Copies sold also roughly translates into viewers and players.

Rotterdam insists on calling Scarlett "he," I'm hoping it's due to habit of speech.

They ended up with eight direct qualifiers from nationals (I didn't know about US & Canada being on the list until today...I thought there were only ~5 direct seeds).
China France Germany Russia South Korea Taiwan Canada USA
