This is going to be good. They once produced one of the best series in GSTL history. Given Startale's crazy lineup, I think MVP is going to have to step in on this one. Probably won't make much of a difference given the current state of MVP, and how he does in team leagues, but always nice to see him and Nestea make an appearance. Nestea won't play ofc, and if he does he'll troll the crap out of me and throw the game away in the ace match ;;
Startale should win, but IM could easily do it too.
I hate when two of my favourite teams fight My heart says Losira all-kill, brain says 5:4 in favour of startale. Really though I just want very player I like to have one good game so I can be happy about that.
There really should be a sc2 b team league, where those who never get the chance to shine can shine. I would love to see ST use one of they female players.
This looks like a good match. I think startale has a edge if they both send their best roster, but is they try out some lesser know players and they turn out to do that well it could go poorly. This could go either way depending on snipes and match ups.
Also, I don't really understand why LG-IM is allowed to use MC as part of the LG-IM.SK partnership, but no other partnerships were allowed in the tournament?

They were allowed to. They chose not to. aTn/Type even forged their own partnership in order to participate.

That isn't official until August 1st so I don't see why that would be an option today.
This could easily go either way as IM never throws out Nestea or MVP (MVP shouldn't be playing with his health problems anyway). So we shall see who is the victor here! Startale are never afraid to throw out their best players.

Much like with Startale, IM had a legendary GSTL final with them in the second gstl season long ago :o
Though...Slayers isn't the same anymore :/
Startale vs Prime would be way better too.
edit: and come to think of it...I don't think IM has actually encountered Slayers in any team league since that final o.O. Definitely not any subsequent GSTL at least.
I think KingKong will come out for ST since they've used him in GSTL I believe, but IM could send anyone. They have the strongest player roster in the game. I think StarTale has the second strongest though now that they have the Zenex players.

LG-IM should recruit MMA so they can win in the B team vs B team events.

FXO wins all b team events man
Their B team is too good. Might as well just hand them the championship, skip the games, and party with them
also, finally a team gets a player name position right using First first. Zenex using avenge with no one to avenge.... sigh...
Stream down, I'll use this time to say how awful KingKong looks. The only thing I have liked from his play is rushing the rocks... I really wish Startale would stop using him. =/

Just wait until the Zenex merger is complete. They'll have Life to use. He's pretty good. They might throw Line in for overall weirdness to try and throw someone off maybe

I don't know about that, he needs to gain experience somehow or he won't improve all that much. Hopefully he will learn something from Life now that StarTale has him from acquiring most of the Zenex roster.

I remember vs nightend in the KSL nightend really over commited to a cannon rush against him but it worked out because kingkong didn't cancel his hatcheries.
Hack went for this proxy hellion drop into banshees at that location before against creator during the TSL qualifiers so I think first decided to check it out to make sure he didn't try it again.

Yea I mean Startale seems to have one of the deepest lineups it's hard to understand why they dont just play them and crush all the team leagues for the money, but I guess they want to give other people some exposure? You have Bomber/Parting/Squirtle/Curious for now and soon Life to throw in to have a sick 5 man team. It's hard to imagine them losing much if they just played that

Rotation is important, if you just play you're best line up all the time you don't leave room to improve for your other players and it's detrimental to their individual performance.
I like how people are quick to blame ST for not putting up their a-team when Bomber just lost in Code A whilst Curious beat a strong player in Puzzle and Hack has been looking really freaking good lately.
*scratches head*
Now they have to rely upon PvP to oust First basically. Thats the last thing any one should want.

The order of the line-up was awful. Sending out KingKong was awful. Bomber is still great, just inconsistent sometimes.
Saving Parting and Squirtle for your last 2 players is also a horrible decision.
Life could end up being the savior of Startale if they actually let him practice in the house and actually use him in leagues.

Imo hack is a better and safer 1st pick, really consistent online, able to cheese or play straight up macro game and not so much behind in any match up. Then you adapt yourself while guarding Squirtle as an ace.

From all accounts the merger isn't 100% complete, and are teams really allowed to bring in players half way through the season? I know GSTL had a rule against it.
Agreed that KingKong is probably a poor opening choice and putting Parting and Squirtle back to back is also poor. Basically praying that whatever Protoss sniper comes out (Losira) isn't able to take them both down?
But still, people were calling the players that came out B team. Hack and Curious are anything but. They're probably respectively the best player of each race in ST currently.

Bomber is much better than Hack even if he just lost his Code A match, that doesn't change anything. Curious was a fine choice though and First just played like a god with his phoenixes in that game.

Bomber may have more potential than Hak but the latter is a safer pick and at his peak atm. I'd not play Bomber over Hack right now, espacially after losing earlier.
I don't think I've ever seen Curious win in a team league (maybe 1 here and there) and I never really notice him win in the GSL, yet he seems quite consistent. I don't understand. >.<

I like PvP early/mid game and the decision making, but its a shame late game is nothing but Colossi vs Colossi battles which are decided in two seconds....

I was more praying for HuK to not get last in his ro32 group every season and not expecting him to win, I don't think everyone was going crazy over it. He never looked like a consistent ro8 player, only getting there once before ro16 was a group stage.

Well, when your players won 5 GSLs and a GSTL title in 2011, some of the credit will definitely have to go to the coach. Still, I personally think most of the credit for that does fall on Nestea and MVP's incredible talent though. Whereas a coach like Ryu Won deserves huge credit for MMA's successes, I'm not sure how much of a strategic role the IM coach played in MVP and Nestea's victories, especially considering that neither live at the team house.

I don't need to validate this to you, anyone who pays enough attention knows that Losira plays better. Regardless of Nestea's Code S results, Losira's play is just better.
Don't forget that Losira got a 4 kill in GSTL for LG-IM before they got reverse AK'd by Symbol.

lol seriously? Nestea just got ro8 Code S while Losira got eliminated first round of Code A against a Terran even with the current state of ZvT. Nestea beat Supernova and TheSTC this season. Supernova/TheSTC > Hack. Especially Supernova.
Naniwa beat Nestea several times, and Losira beat Naniwa at MLG Columbus.
The difference is my examples happened within a week or two of each other while your examples happened like 6 months apart.

Nestea is terrible in teamleague. And you don't wake him up for such uniportant thing anyway !

I don't need to validate this to you, anyone who pays enough attention knows that Losira plays better. Regardless of Nestea's Code S results, Losira's play is just better.
Don't forget that Losira got a 4 kill in GSTL for LG-IM before they got reverse AK'd by Symbol.
I think you do need to validate this. What context are you talking about? Based on results alone, Nestea is not only the winningest Zerg (although DRG and even Symbol are better atm), but Losira hasn't been relevant for a while... and when he was relevant, he was considered to be a mini-version of Nestea. Nestea's been far more consistent in the GSL than Losira, even currently. So I'm not dismissing what you're saying, but I'd like you to at least elaborate. To say "Losira plays better [than Nestea]" is objectively wrong based on their statistics, so you need to expand on what you're saying.

Well, if you just looked at each players respective games, without any names attached to them, I would say that most people would see Losira as the better player. His execution is far far superior, and while Nestea's decision making is still good, he can go ZergBong every so often. Losira was also very close to getting an all kill, before Symbol undid all his work. CURSE YOU SYMBOL!

Was there lag that game? Because those forcefields were terribly late and Parting seemed really slow to react on both the defensive and offensive fronts. That weird chat spike made me concerned.

NesTea is awake and watching the games. His account is anyway as it left the game after Parting gg'd
Last Tournament of champion was only Terran, with like 2 protoss and one zerg. Who want to bet with me the next one is all zerg, some protoss and Jjakji ? xD

I'm guessing it will be
Prime : Creator LG-IM : Losira Slayers : Puzzle Team Liqud : Taeja MVP : Dongraegu Startale : Squirtle EG : Puma TSL : Symbol Hoseo won't be in the tournament since they forfeited I think.
Hmm, so now IM gets to send a player as well to IPL 5. I wonder who it would be, Nestea or MVP? But knowing the coach, looks like dreamertt finally got his big break.
If IM makes it to the championship finals I will be able to attend and hopefully finally get my IM jersey signed by the team.. oh god is this really happening

Startale Vs Prime in the lower bracket!
EG vs Prime, actually. Winner plays StarTale.
ahahahaa
Prime goes full IM and sends 5 zergs against JYP gg no re. They actually did that against TSL during one of the play offs, 3 zergs in a row vs JYP.
I dont think prime even has 5 zergs...and no one in their right mind would send out b4 against jyp.
yeah lol i think prime has like... bboongbboong and that's it, annyeong and bumblebee are not there. salmosa and aria are pretty unproven. prime lineup: bbbb < jyp salmosa < jyp classic < jyp aria < jyp gerrard > jyp gerrard < idra
On July 19 2012 10:17 opterown wrote: nettie no longer on a-team i think it's just classic, creator mkp, byun, maru bbbb, aria, salmosa atm really small roster =/
To be honest, small team have better succes in general. Look at mouz golden period with Thorzain Mana Morrow Hasu and Bigs.
Prime roster is small but you dont really can get a better field than sending Creator, MKP, Byun, Maru and either Classic or B4.
Realistically IM is going to send YongHwa to IPL 5 given how well he did at HSC and the fact that he all-killed dtg for them in the tac this season. YongHwa probably deserves it most, then again Seed helped kill MVP and has been wrecking face in code S, and First qualified for tsl4 and was good tonight . Look they're gonna send a protoss is what I'm saying or maybe Losira if he gets a chance to show off some more in the tac as well as does well at the upcoming mlg arena ( Why do you keep qualifying for arenas but never making it to pool play Losira whyyyyyyyy?)

Seed deserves it far more than YongHwa even if he loses 0-3 tonight. Ro4 Code S is like 100x harder than a 2nd place in Homestory Cup. I think Seed deserves it the most but I hope they give it to Nestea. He did get third at the last IPL and just had his best GSL performance in a while.

Yeah, I'd bet on Seed
Nestea and MVP have had their moment in the sun and gone to their share of foreign events. They rarely contribute in team leagues as well, which I'd say is the biggest factor.
Losira and Yonghwa have performed in team league and gone to foreign events before.
Seed though hasn't gone to any and recently has performed better than everyone else overall (with the exception of perhaps MVP winning a gsl title not too long ago).
inb4 IM coach joke about him disregarding all that shit and sending Happy instead >_>

I think it's a balancing act between individual success in different tournaments and how useful players were in various team leagues etc etc. I put Yonghwa over Seed becuase I weighed performance in this TAC more heavily than individual results (Where Seed of course wins) because of the tie in between the two events but I have no idea how the coach actually weights things. If Seed does go to ipl5 he is required to win and then do the most epic ceremony ever known to mankind by stripping and slathering himself in honey before jumping into a sea of adoring fans.
they might just do a massive inhouse round robin to see who gets the spot, seems more fair and no player would be butthurt over and perceived coach criticism
Forgot to ask earlier but where was this announcement that the top 4 ( or 6? not sure ) teams get to send one player to IPL5? I must have missed it somehow.

Top 4 get to send a player. So Slayers and IM already have an extra "seed" to IPL 5, while the remaining 6 teams battle it out for last 2 spots.

Grats to IM, as long as MVP and Nestea don't play things are just fine. There is plenty of raw talent in IM to get to that ace match and LosirA generaly is a Team league beast either as starter or ace. MVP and Nestea simply just don't play well on the fly without a good amount of preparation, something i pray the IM coach finaly found out after the last GSTL ...

And yet, MVP has won many foreign weekend events and Nestea got third at IPL. Yes, they play better with preparation in longer sets but they still play well... Not sure anyone was going to stop Symbol when he went for the reverse all-kill. The IM coach is able to watch his players everyday, I think he would have a pretty good idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

I told myself that aswell as i did defend the IM coach until i read the interview of Nestea where he was not supost to be an ace but got picked by his own suprise anyway. IM coach is a fantastic manager and i aplaud him on his sponsor deals and the way his players seem to truely care for him and his wife. But he's not a good tactical coach and i doubt he knows the strength or weakness in a GSTL match.
