This double-elimination tournament features 24 teams from around the world and is an All-Kill team format. This match is being played for Winners Round 4. Slayers Coca is the man to beat right now on team Slayers - But Hero SMASHED ! DRG - the best Zerg Player on the Planet right now - at the IPL @ HotImportNights Event. He's on a roll and i don't think slayers can stop him or taeja! Liquid 5-1
I'm confused, it says this is Winners Round 4 but the loser will be eliminated from the tournament? How exactly is that considered double elimination then?...

Liquid can win, but SlayerS has a much better chance. Not sure when this was played but it was probably while Hero was travelling, which will obviously hurt. Any of the zergs could get a win, but I wouldn't expect more than 2 total from the lot of them. Will come down to how many children of Boxer that Taeja can slay and then convert to foreign teams. >_>
Just as an extra bit of information, this match was indeed played last week before players on each side went to attend the NASL 3 Finals, so everyone was available on both sides.

Either way Hero was likely staying wherever he was staying in the US or Canada (my guess is NY) after playing at HIN. So he probably was not in his element if he ended up playing (I say if because maybe Taeja came out before him and finished things off =P).
You know, since TL has predictions at 5-4 for Liquid', and I'm pretty sure the writers all know the results, I'll say that Liquid wins, even though I want SlayerS to.

Thats not really how it works. tree.hugger may know more than others, but afaik NrGMonk has no connection to TL other than being a moderator/writer and he was the one that wrote the preview. They would never have someone that knows the results write a preview. O.o
Seriously? People are favoring Liquid in the polls? Don't get me wrong, Liquid is a very strong team, but I think Slayers is on another level, especially in terms of depth.
Trying to take a nap but couldn't help but leave a comment about how doa thinks Miya is girl. Quite funny to listen to xD He has been out in the gstl a good bit, plenty of time to see him then =)
Sensible to hold back the big guns and throw in Zenio, although his ZvZ doesn't seem as good these days as when he was really fearsome in the matchup. Anyone else seen him play recently?

He lost to hyun which isn't the worst thing in the world given hyun's furious improvement, he played that mind blowing series against sen at the NASL (Imo tied with puma vs alive for the best series of NASL 3) but he lost to ROOTfitzyhere who I think hates ZvZ.
It's weird, but I never feel comfortable about sending Zenio out, no matter whom the opponent is. It just seems that anyone is able to take games off of him.
How annoying. I can't watch HD, even though I am subscribing. It asks me to log in or subscribe, and when I log in it just keeps logging in and showing me the "please log in or subscribe" thing. In fact it's worse than that, since it also blacks out the screen.
Ohhh man, I thought the game was over there, but fortunately Zenio was able to take it. I think Puzzle is gonna kill him here, but if Zenio wins, Liquid has a HUGE advantage.

Haha, yeah Terran has such a problem when they take eco damage right?
If you trade army for econ, you're going to be left open to an attack like that. Had the game gone longer Zenio may have been in some trouble but he knew the way it works and capitalized on his opponent's depleted army. I really don't think you can say eco damage doesn't stop Zerg as much as the other races especially given you know... MULEs.
Edit: The dude above me worded it more eloquently, thank you.
I stil love Archon toilets! They're fucking awesome, now that Zergs have figured out how to beat them most of the time (DRG, Stephano etc just pre split the boords) that explosion never gets old for me.

Archon toilets are pretty cool, especially back in the earlier days when they were a novelty. Back then, it was basically one of those "troll" builds on ladder, but when guys like Kiwikaki started doing them in pro matches, shit got real.
If you think about it, Archon toilets are pretty cool because it utilizes the synergy of two of the most powerful units of the Protoss army. Nowadays people complain because it happens so often in late-game PvZ, which causes it to lose the novelty effect.

First of all sorry, I say dumb and aggressive stuff in LRs after a stressful day of work.
True about the not saving for gas, but 3 OC's by that point in the game isn't unheard of, and also Terran's losing gas mining doesn't hurt them as much due to being able to just throw more money into marines if necessary. Not always ideal of course, but never an absolutely horrible idea either.
In any case, sorry again. I sometimes read the things I write in these and I'm like man what is with me?

People don't complain because of how often it happens, they complain because the archon toilet defines and outlines the whole pace and development of late game PvZ, and because it usually is the end-game move, as in, a successful archon toilet instantly ends the game, which is pretty lame, particularly considering some protoss will turtle the whole game and go directly into archon toilet, which is REALLY boring to watch.

That cancel nexus in game 1 of their series in NASL showed a lot of respect (perhaps maybe too much actually) for Ret by puzzle. Most would just 2 base immortal sentry all in the foreign zerg. Think that points towards Ret winning this, though perhaps it was a sign that Puzzle thought he could just "cheese" (not sure if cancelling the third really counts as cheese). That's all speculation tho.

Wow, I didn't realize people who apologized were still on here and posted XD
Damn this map and its insane middle base. I still don't understand why its there, especially when mappers had the huge discussion about Barrin's FRB. That thing runs completely against the idea of spreading armies out across the map rather than just holding onto a base and thats it.

In regards to that, and I don't want to sound incredibly unsympathetic to Zergs out there, but there are ways to counter the toilet. Pre-splitting the deathball, or the infested terran trick once the vortex is dropped are just two that come to mind.
But I guess that is just me personally. Whenever the mothership and archon combo is out, the game tension increases as you wonder if the Protoss will get that clutch toilet or miss and get overrun by the Zerg. It's kind of like a hail-mary play, and I understand why people would dislike it as part of the meta-game.

I mean, I knew Puzzle was good, but there is this "solidness" you don't really feel from a lot of other top Protosses. He's very fast, has very good macro and micro, good builds and decision making. I'll try to watch more of his games in the future, he almost convinced me to play Protoss again :D

Every so often I go and watch old Puzzle VoDs, from when he was in Zenex, the only Protoss I've ever seen that plays that fast, it's nice to watch from his view as you don't get the sense he's really fast watching from the obs perspective

Puzzle is probably the most "solid" Protoss in the world.
He doesn't do anything particularly innovative or exciting, he just doesn't make mistakes.

You realise pros don't just attack at random times, right? Ret tried to tech too quickly, gambling on not getting attacked, and threw up the spines after he was attacked. The only reason Ret might have looked ahead to you is because he got called out on the gamble, and thus lost the game.

I find him pretty exciting to watch, he's got great multitasking lategame vs Z, I'm becoming a bit of a fan of him.
Puzzle reminds me of sea[shield], very safe and standard style, monster in team leagues but under performs in the individual leagues (Maybe my expectations are too high though as I expected him to at least make finals of NASL and to be hanging around code S).

Well, he did win Code A a year ago. Yeah, I know it's not much compared to Code S, but considering that no other Protoss besides MC has won the GSL Code S, it's still pretty impressive.
Don't know if it has anything to do with the current state of TvZ, but i'm enjoying TvP a lot more lately (even when P wins, so you not call me biased ), games are somewhat predictable but really action packed.
Hrmmm mma was still on slayers and in decent standing when this was played, but you cant use ryung and mma with hero left on the board, so he or ryung, crank and coaca would be whats most likely after alcia (assuming taeja wins) unless there is a sniper planned for taeja or hero.

What just happened there? I was 95% sure Hero would lose to that counter attack, storm's not supposed to do anything against Protoss units. Hero throws down a few storms and all of a sudden nothing except for the colossi are left. Weird but awesome!

At least they didn't in the GSTL v. Fnatic.
I dunno, I wish they wouldn't try these "snipers" to the point where its matchpoint, it scares the SHIT out of me.
Ryung sniped aLive, didn't he? In the end, it worked out alright. It was way too close for comfort, but we still advanced. Sometimes you do need a plan when you come into a teamleague game. Min may not be the strongest player on the roster, but if he spent an extra several hours preparing exclusively to take down Hero on a certain map, I would have confidence in Min over an unprepared Coca.

Go Min!
I just feel so much safer when they go ahead and just use Ryung right away, my nerves can't handle going to matchpoint from a large advantage.
I'd feel better about the snipers if the players sniping were ones that I had seen perform better when I get to see them. After ESV yesterday Min has not inspired much confidence in me.
That being said that was TvZ, and I don't recall seeing his ZvP.
Poor decision making from Hero this game. The waffle in the middle while he lost his third, and now he tried saving his third again clearly in vain instead of blinking on top of the 10 low energy infestors.
Bit silly. That double back nexus snipe earlier on feels really predictable but was tough to deal with. Then no matter how many bases he sniped, min had enough eco to make such a large infestor broodlord comp. Dts needed to do more.
Meh.
edit: bit dicey for hero to ever commit to an attack. By time the third was lost his army was smaller than min's and infestors were coming online. In the late game... free spines....

its funny how desperate people are to berate min's obvious outclassing of hero. Min didn't even have a huge lead. His delaying of Heros nexus with burrowed ling/roach and creep was what won him the game. Min also made an amazing decision to send off 5 infestors to snipe the nexus with IT, realizing that his army was big enough by itself to win any battles

No one is saying that Min is going to win the next GSL :p
But he was sent out to snipe Hero and bring it home for the team, and he did it. He had a job, and he accomplished it, and for that, Slayers fans around the world rejoice.
Hero loses his third Nexus a few times and doesn't get up his fourth when he meant to because there was a burrowed Roach which he didn't clear for 5-10 minutes (not even exaggerating) and somehow this is Min getting an undeserved win where he got totally outplayed.

OK then.
His engagements were pretty atrocious but his decision making was really good, was well played for sure
Such a contrast in matchup Hero absolutely dominating puzzle the game before showing just how good he is, then starts vs min really well, but his momentum just slowly dissapated as does every protoss' when entering late game vs that many infestors. Feel like Hero outplayed min for the first 15 minutes but wasnt rewarded at all for it

Yeah because the burrowed roach denying the nexus was definitely not put there intentionally by min and it was definitely not a mistake by hero to not clear it out *rolls eyes*

oh lol I didnt see the "somehow" in front of "this is Min getting an undeserved win". one word makes all the difference

Maybe he should've protected his third for longer than two minutes.
Good game by min, liquid put up a good fight, but its not quite enough against a top gstl team. I really don't like that map though, not from balance, i just dont like that map, maybe because it is a small map, but what ever, well played by slayers. I think liquid can get through the losers bracket, but they have to have an even better performance than this series every time from now on to do it.

Zenio won the same amount of games as Taeja and Hero.
Still, all-killing Dignitas just isn't as impressive as All-killing Prime :p
Liquid's next match will be either MVP or TSL, so there will be a lot of Zergs.

Nevertheless, Zenio's at least done as well as most of Liquid's non-Koreans, not really fair to single him out.
Can't win 'em all, but we'll keep trying to. It's some consolation I guess that we did better than the first two guys did against SlayerS, but hopefully we meet them later on and get revenge. Next match against either TSL or MVP should be a tough one, but also a great series!

True. He's alright of a player, and part of the reason why people aren't impressed by him quite frankly is because the expectations are higher for him, considering that he used to be a Code S regular. I think he's around Sheth-Ret level, but people always compare him to Hero and Taeja.
