Wrong quote? He basically said he watches every single mu apart from PvP. Same as me, I just downright hate PvP to be honest.

Those are better players, but an easier format. Ro16 and Ro32 were best of 1 back then.

Bo1 is not an easier format for the better player.

However in the case of MVP specifically, he stated himself he much prefers the bo1 format, he obviously feels comfortable under the pressure and with his skill it'd definitely be scary to vs him in one.

true, but bo1 also means that it's easier to get knocked out by just one mistake. the bo3 is less punishing i feel since you can drop one map but come back
...and then he roflstomps the -supposed to be- best player in the world with 3:0. Arguing seems a bit silly.

I would say having in mind player from at that time, when MVP won, and now MC road, i would say pretty equal, except that DRG was underperfoming hard today. Although MC was on the ropes vs Squirtle. Squirtle played very very good.

The main allegations against PvP are that it is a luck-based matchup.

MC won that series with a 2gate robo hold against an UNSCOUTED 4gate, with the 2gate and Robo unpowered.

Dismissing it as a PvP is retarded.

robo builds hold 4gate unscouted with any amount of micro, unless they started with a pylon in your base

What is the reason you did not practice for this?

In my opinion, PvPs are 80% luck and 20% skill. That's why instead of needlessly practicing for this, I left it all up to chance. If you get your build orders mix matched with your opponent's, you cannot win.

-Parting yesterdays winners interview

if the players don't even respect the matchup, why should anyone else?

Normally I agree and I will definitely watch this one. I have never watched InCa vs Nestea. when I saw that InCa 0% PvZ win rate vs Nestea who was still like 85% ZvP at the time, I went ahead and called it a day

Or none?

Mc's just better at the moment?

As a fan of both:

MC was indeed better today, no doubt. That said DRG's play was particularly poor. I was worried last week in his vs Naniwa, but he mentioned in the interview that the builds threw him off which is why it looked closer than I expected I thought.

But DRG hasn't looked good vP in a very recent number of games. Odd, but perhaps he's struggling with the MU more than he knows.

Either way, not taking it away from MC or Naniwa previously. DRG played poor, but he's still probably the best player in the world.

Maybe it is a practice partner match up problem. MVP has some protoss but comparing them to the ST protoss or MC they fall way behind. He can maybe hold all pushes from other protoss but MC is a different beast with his control. Even so though today was very lack luster play from DRG. So happy about MC making it to the finals.

MC even has no teammates to practise with. But MC said a while ago that he practises a lot with Symbol.

MC might not have team-mates exactly, but he has friends and former team-mates to practice with. He said at NASL he had spent the previous few days practicising a lot with Hero and Ret. I think MC is probably popular and can find friends to practice with if he needs it.

He's also really good friends with Marineking and Parting so he probably gets a lot of PvT and PvP practice with them

I don't think MC has much of a problem finding practice partners, he is pretty well known and if you have problems holding protoss pushes he is the person you want to practice with. If you can hold his version can pretty much hold anyones. Another note though MC has had some of the most exciting PvP series i can remember. The MC vs JYP at home story cup 4 was one of the most exciting matches i have seen. I was so on edge there and it even went 6 games in a best of 5 lol

First thing i thought when I saw the MC - DRG scores "Wow, MC must have some sick new timings, gotta copy!"
But now after reading the LR threads "WTF MC beat DRG in straight-up macro games? GG"
PvP finals, should be interesting

yea that run's great.

Even MVP's last run was sick: Ryung (twice), Puzzle, July, Hero, Leenock, Naniwa, Parting, Squirtle. Parting and Naniwa in their best matchups, Squirtle on a sick tear, Leenock and Ryung both celebrated terran killers. All in series play, too, rather than best of ones.

And it's not as though Squirtle's, DRG's or Genius' runs to the finals were easy, either. It's getting pretty damn hard to get to the finals in GSL. It's going to be just about impossible for people to emulate Inca's run to the finals, for instance. You have to be a superb player. MC and Seed are just showing how true this is.

I wish Blizzard would fix PvP so that the expectation of shitty games didn't exist.

remove colossus

that literally solves every problem with the matchup from a spectator point of view

Without colossus PvP would be all chargelot archon ;p They need another robotics unit. some sort of scarab shooting type of unit maybe!

As a protoss player (and I'm sure other protoss would agree with me), I would be all for the removal of the colossus and replacing it with the reaver or a similar type of unit.

I don't know though, Browder and his "oh but it looks so cool it shoots laserzz!!!" approach would probably prevent that.

Beat finalist, beat champion, and beat previous champion? How can there be a harder road?

any idea of who?

sorry my history is weak. i know all the champs just can't remember any incredible runs aside from face rolls (NesTea, Squirtle)

i think mvp had a harder one
polt, mc, nestea, huk, july, top

Those are better players, but an easier format. Ro16 and Ro32 were best of 1 back then.

Bo1 is not an easier format for the better player.

However in the case of MVP specifically, he stated himself he much prefers the bo1 format, he obviously feels comfortable under the pressure and with his skill it'd definitely be scary to vs him in one.

MVP said he prefers bo1 because it requires less stamina which is currently a serious issue for him with his massive exploding wrist issues >_<

These weren't nearly as big a problem in the middle of last year...

MC won the official group of death convincingly.

so did mvp during his run
mvp > mc
mvp > polt
both recently champions.

mc won a pvp and against a derping mkp

The main allegations against PvP are that it is a luck-based matchup.

MC won that series with a 2gate robo hold against an UNSCOUTED 4gate, with the 2gate and Robo unpowered.

Dismissing it as a PvP is retarded.

robo builds hold 4gate unscouted with any amount of micro, unless they started with a pylon in your base

Somebody doesn't play Protoss...
