The Intel Extreme Masters are coming back to gamescom (held in Cologne, Germany from August 15th to 19th) to kick off season 7. Here is your chance to qualify from Europe and Africa! Seven of the best players from the region will qualify for gamescom. You must advance through 3 stages to do so. See how below.
Best of 3 in all rounds. Once Round of 16 is reached the matches end, and the 16 players then move to stage #2.
A map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player (seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.

Entry is waiting for approval, one of the calendar admins will hopefully help with that soon. It's very late notice so the news might not have spread as much yet. Any help is appreciated!

Because they announce it 2 days before and require premium to sign up.
They almost beat MLG in the art of planning qualifiers.

Come on LaLuSh, I'll buy your mustache if you need money to pay for Premium.

So... do you want to play in the qualifier? Hit me up on Skype ('davissimo') if you do and need some help with the signup.
Stuck around at the studio for 2 hours hoping it would go back up (internet), but it didnt sadly : ( was hoping to just gather lots of replays to cast, but by the time i'd left, the internet still wasnt in sight.. we'll figure out a way to compensate! : 3
Right, where exactly (if anywhere) is the link to the regional qualifiers where the high/low regional seeds come from as I can't find them anywhere on ESL or Liquipedia...
I'd just like a bit more transparency given these people got to skip one or two entire round of qualification, or in the case of HasuObs all stages.
How was it decided he was national champion btw? He didn't win the WCS Germany finals that was run by ESL... Was there another tournament done to decide this or some form of ranking, such as last seasons IEM points ranking? Or did they just take him as the highest finishing German at HSC?

And even if he eventually manages to beat Goody, in the second round Nerchio (probably) awaits him and I don't see him winning that. Though maybe his win agains Goody gives him just the morality boost he needs!

DIMAGA dropped out as a Stage 3 seed and thus White-Ra moved up from Stage 2 to 3. The "open" spot in Stage 2 was then given to GoOdy, so technically, 17 people came from Stage 1 and 15 were in Stage 2.

ESL.tv should look in to their stream quality, "normal" StarCraft 2 streams are much more watchable in 360p than ESL.tv's in 450p+. I think problem lies in the sharpness effect and maybe some finetuning for contrast would help a bit.
2007 Cloud and GoOdy meat first in WCG. Goody won a pvp there. Since then Goody did go 14-0 in series against Cloud, beating him everytime with his black magic. Now the curse is over. History has been made!

It is high time Vortix stopped being regarded as "i think he is Lucifron's brother". He has established himself as one of the best EU players, he had an all-kill in IPTL, he qualified for TSL4, he is at the top of EU GM - not knowing about him is frankly inexcusable. I don't want to open the "zerg op" floodgates, but i think that currently he is better than Lucifron. So people should say "Lucifron is Vortix's brother"

And where exactly did i reference what you said? Never mind, this is not a topic worth getting your panties in a bunch.
Grubby, my fav player of all time, since WC3. Getting better and better and actually pulling off all those cool stunts he's been trying for ages. Also, a great big thumbs up for Kaelaris for awesome casting and hard work! Keep it up!
Great match, both playing very well. Lucifron lost a couple of battles very badly when it looked like the match might tip in his favor, but he can still win the series.
Unfortunately NaNiwa will not play tonight. Instead Socke will take his spot in the stage 3 qualifier as he has the most IEM ranking points of all four players who were eliminated last last night (Welmu, LucifroN, JonnyREcco were the other three).
In case of another dropout LucifroN will be the next in line.

Nope, that is as boring. Maybe just too many TvPs running atm.
When i'm logged in, i don't see the event in the calendar on the right. When i log out, i see the event. What option should i check, in order to see it while logged in?
As much as I love seeing upcoming players having success the fact that they play zerg or protoss annoys me a lot. I feel some of them will fade back when the metagame changes or the game is patched.
We need some new terrans.
PS : No the german terrans can't be counted as upcoming until they stop cheesing like monkeys.
On July 19 2012 03:34 JustPassingBy wrote: Real vs Socke and then vs Darkforce before the top 7? why u hate germany, bracket?
You could also say it increases the chance of any of them getting through. The bracket seems pretty evenly skilled with a lot of players being able to win or lose their matches; so one of them making it, would make me already happy

It's so disgusting watching Slivko playing... he's pretty much the GoOdy of the zerg and you can fairly say that his micro/macro & multitasking is way worse than of his opponents. I can't understand how he can win all the time against Protoss and Terran player.

For once he is playing zerg, that helps right now. And he doesn't follow the current metagame (at least not entirely). The same can be said of Bly for example.

He does, he makes a giant zerg Deathball and camps all day. Bly on the other hand is pretty aggresive.

So they are smarter and makes better decisions then?
Thats dumb, friend or not. I can understand why he does it, but in this particular situation, when he de facto won the game and therefore qualifies for gamescom, its just dumb sorry.
On July 19 2012 04:03 AlternativeEgo wrote: So they are smarter and makes better decisions then?
I was pointing on his abusive style of playing Zerg Deathball. Kas has better macro, more bases 5 k minerals, harrasing all the time and sniping hatches, though he won but it was way to close and he won only with a stronger reinforcement.

Not quite. Bly is either very cheesy (not aggressive) but has his trademark 2 base spines tech to BL.

How the hack did SorfOf made it to round 4?
Please don't throw wild accusations about players you don't know, he has already proved he is a top level player offline with his performance at esport SM, - http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/E-Sport_SM, he streamed the entire event if you look at the side-bar.

He flies out to New York for MLG in 6 hours
Read my post again please, I never throw any wild accusation about sortof and guess what I know him. I saw him playing in many minor Tournaments and I'm just suprised how he made it into round of 4 since he was more of an underdog.

I dunno about vs. Protoss and Terran, but from what I've seen Slivko's strongest matchup might be ZvZ. Watching him at Homestory Cup V his ability to stay ahead on macro in ZvZ despite being constantly attacked and harassed was pretty cool, and even IdrA seemed pretty impressed (even saying that he felt Slivko could be a top zerg player if he can get over his nerves). Obviously IdrA's comments should be taken with a grain of salt since it's IdrA, but I'd trust in his ability to identify a player with strong macro mechanics (since that's really IdrA's biggest asset as a player).
Slivko's faults seem to be he's really turtley and his lategame decision-making is often lacking (possibly due to nerves - this was DIMAGA's theory at HSCV). He may be playing to the advantages Zerg has currently, but comparing Slivko to Goody seems unfair.

His loss against Supernova in IEM Sao Paulo was heartbreaking. Glad that he's qualified, I hope that it doesn't come at the cost of Kas.

Yeah, that's the thing, I really hope they can both qualify.
He will beat darkforce, and then it's about 50/50 with vortix. It's not too important though, even if Kas looses that match he will get a match for the 7th place against adelscott and he's a heavy favorite in that match.
It's curious that Feast relies on sentry immortal so much. It's certainly his favorite 2 base all-in but it's apparently not the one he considers the strongest (according to his stream, it's a void ray + gateway unit all-in)

50/50 vs VortiX? rofl. this is like 80/20 for VortiX , no ofense....this guy is just insane.

So elfi, SortOf, sLivko, Feast, Nerchio, VortiX and Kas made it.. doesn't look that bad!
Looks good in terms of players, I just hope the racial balance will be a bit more equal after the remaining qualifiers. From EU and SEA, there's six Zergs, three Protoss and only one Terran.
Korean qualifiers look like they might change that, a lot of Terrans and not much else in the final stage for now, but we'll probably also get more Zergs from NA.
Still better than Sao Paulo. Nothing beats that event in terms of ZvZs occurring. :D
Yeah, this sure looks like another event without terran unfortunately Hope Blizzard notices all these results lately, cause PvZ all the time is getting kinda boring.
But there's also still the open bracket, which will most likely be filled with Germans (Goody, DBS, Heromarine, Krass are the terrans that could make it through there) and Grubby/Ret perhaps.
On July 19 2012 07:14 Lukeeze[zR] wrote: demuslim is the only terran in the NA's stage 3 qualifier, so it's gonna be though.
the obvious top 2 (violet & golden) are playing against each other in the first round so if demuslim passes the first round, he has a good chance of getting a spot, don't worry!
