I do remember your posts and we did have discussion on your points however we decided on running the same format broadcast wise as the last event. There is double the amount of games to be broadcast since many of the players advised us the group into single elim is better for them. A main factor to our decision against weekend style tournaments as you suggested was TB's details he contributed about SCI4, which is a much more successful event than ours viewer wise.
We are not perfect, but we will be consistently be evaluating our events, the change from our FIS4 event to FIS5 showed dramatic improvement, we are simply adjusting as we go, if this shows decline in interest then we will adjust accordingly again.
I don't agree how this can be "worse" than any other format though. some reasoning below;

I am more than happy to elaborate on the reasoning and logic behind our format changes in detail if you wish via PM, If i find time I will do up a blog on it on our site shortly

Giving the players time to get their matches played actually reduces the pressure on them, especially with many players having difficult travel schedules. It gives them the option to play out everything in one weekend which most Koreans prefer to do, or stage it out as their schedule requires. This style of scheduling is no different to NASL or IPL in many aspects.
The Viewers - + Show Spoiler +
It gives a regular event to tune into as the tournament progresses, some prefer regular things some prefer weekend events, however there was constant growth during every broadcast during our last event peaking with our finals, If we saw differently I would happily agree with you that the broadcast format should be changed.

I do not see any downside to this format for us, as you stated, many sponsorship models are advertising for awareness, the FXOpen marketing department has told us how much they believe the exposure is worth, If anything extending the format for more broadcast time for the same cost would show an increase in cost/effect leading to the possibility of more allowance for our events, along with other factors like advertising and such to further increase the investment.

First off, I apologise for the tone, it’s probably that I value my ideas too much but people online rarely seem interested. I follow FXOBoSs’s blog but FXO webpage is a bit outdated, the jersey design contest faded away so the structure of FIS6 made me rage a bit. I’m surprised you remember and I thank you for your reply.
Considering the prize pool and prize distribution I’m not sure it’s worth the time for the players if they have to attend the event on weekends spread across 2 months. I find the scheduling very risky, there might be frequent walkovers. Personally I watch most Starcraft if there is a big weekend event because of the hype, otherwise I only follow my favourite players - there is too much content. That’s why I watch qxc in NASL from VODs and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to spread it out, people might lose interest.
One idea I had recently is that there might be a strange conflict of interest because FXOpen it’s the tournament organiser and also one of the two sponsors. My layman’s understanding is that as an organiser you rely on the sponsors and the viewers to break even but as a sponsor you don’t expect the money back directly, you essentially pay for marketing. That’s why I think FXOBoSs was a bit sceptical after the last event and from your reaction it seems you’ve already quantified the return on marketing and decided it’s worth the cost of the event.
Ultimately it’s all up to you, what worries me is the live viewership, attention span of the community and general response from the players. The “redeeming” factor a long league such as NASL is the speed of releasing VODs. It’s important if you want the people to watch the game rather than just look at the results and then decide what to watch and what to skip. For example the MLG Spring Arena 2 released the VODs even after just one week but when I tried watching them I felt it’s “the past” and I wasn’t all that interested because I knew the results.
I sincerely wish you can make it work and once again I apologise for my tone. It seems silly that I’m trying to tell a forex firm what to do with their money :D. I’ll try not to spam you with my concerns.
