Siiiiiiick! I'm digging the format. Only concern is Atlantis Spaceship, but meh, major tournaments like the GSL have it, so I guess my personal issues with the map are insignificant.

What MVP did was end the game before the map itself could even be played out. Certainly an amazing and nail-biting end to the finals, but has little to do with the map itself.

We did our best to avoid as many other events as possible, MLG/Dreamhack/HSC all on very shortly etc. we did the best we could so there's as few overlaps as possible
Hope someone official can help clarify a few points :
1. Which version of Daybreak is the tournament using (ladder / GSL)??
2. Regarding the main invitational event, how will the prize money be paid? Through Paypal or other channel?
3. Regarding the main invitational event, which server the games will be played on if the players are from different server?
4. Is there anyway for Chinese players to participate in the qualifiers? If yes, which qualifers do they join?
5. In the OP, it says :
You must live in the region in order to play in the qualifiers.
What about Hong Kong citizens (a Chinese) with SEA version SC2, can they participate in the SEA qualifiers? Players in HK bought SEA version cuz we prefer English over Mandarin, and the connection is probably better for us.
I apologise in advance if the information asked is posted somewhere else. Hope people can understand that I am new to the online tournament scene / . \ And thanks in advance for your reply ^^.

To answer your questions.
1 - GSL version 2 - Direct Bank deposit is our primary way (tax audit purposes) 3 - Server rules are being done up officially now by Frequency, in short the main server for this event is the Korean server, in cases like KR vs EU and US vs EU I believe the server used will be NA. 4 - Chinese players can participate in the Korean Qualifier this time around, if there is enough interest I will work on a Chinese qualifier for our next event 5 - I spoke with frequency, we are OK with players in that situation to play in the SEA qualifiers since it is their primary server.
I don't understand why you are making it even more spread out than the previous one. I tried explaining it the last time but this is even worse (for the players, viewers, even you). You can't do it like this and then say "we can't break even" as if it was the universal truth :/

I do remember your posts and we did have discussion on your points however we decided on running the same format broadcast wise as the last event. There is double the amount of games to be broadcast since many of the players advised us the group into single elim is better for them. A main factor to our decision against weekend style tournaments as you suggested was TB's details he contributed about SCI4, which is a much more successful event than ours viewer wise.
We are not perfect, but we will be consistently be evaluating our events, the change from our FIS4 event to FIS5 showed dramatic improvement, we are simply adjusting as we go, if this shows decline in interest then we will adjust accordingly again.
I don't agree how this can be "worse" than any other format though. some reasoning below;
Giving the players time to get their matches played actually reduces the pressure on them, especially with many players having difficult travel schedules. It gives them the option to play out everything in one weekend which most Koreans prefer to do, or stage it out as their schedule requires. This style of scheduling is no different to NASL or IPL in many aspects.
It gives a regular event to tune into as the tournament progresses, some prefer regular things some prefer weekend events, however there was constant growth during every broadcast during our last event peaking with our finals, If we saw differently I would happily agree with you that the broadcast format should be changed.
I do not see any downside to this format for us, as you stated, many sponsorship models are advertising for awareness, the FXOpen marketing department has told us how much they believe the exposure is worth, If anything extending the format for more broadcast time for the same cost would show an increase in cost/effect leading to the possibility of more allowance for our events, along with other factors like advertising and such to further increase the investment.
I am more than happy to elaborate on the reasoning and logic behind our format changes in detail if you wish via PM, If i find time I will do up a blog on it on our site shortly

First off, I apologise for the tone, it’s probably that I value my ideas too much but people online rarely seem interested. I follow FXOBoSs’s blog but FXO webpage is a bit outdated, the jersey design contest faded away so the structure of FIS6 made me rage a bit. I’m surprised you remember and I thank you for your reply.
Considering the prize pool and prize distribution I’m not sure it’s worth the time for the players if they have to attend the event on weekends spread across 2 months. I find the scheduling very risky, there might be frequent walkovers. Personally I watch most Starcraft if there is a big weekend event because of the hype, otherwise I only follow my favourite players - there is too much content. That’s why I watch qxc in NASL from VODs and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to spread it out, people might lose interest.
One idea I had recently is that there might be a strange conflict of interest because FXOpen it’s the tournament organiser and also one of the two sponsors. My layman’s understanding is that as an organiser you rely on the sponsors and the viewers to break even but as a sponsor you don’t expect the money back directly, you essentially pay for marketing. That’s why I think FXOBoSs was a bit sceptical after the last event and from your reaction it seems you’ve already quantified the return on marketing and decided it’s worth the cost of the event.
Ultimately it’s all up to you, what worries me is the live viewership, attention span of the community and general response from the players. The “redeeming” factor a long league such as NASL is the speed of releasing VODs. It’s important if you want the people to watch the game rather than just look at the results and then decide what to watch and what to skip. For example the MLG Spring Arena 2 released the VODs even after just one week but when I tried watching them I felt it’s “the past” and I wasn’t all that interested because I knew the results.
I sincerely wish you can make it work and once again I apologise for my tone. It seems silly that I’m trying to tell a forex firm what to do with their money :D. I’ll try not to spam you with my concerns.

He was invited to this because of his most recent in house ranking performance of 35-4 (bo3 against every player in the house) Taking first place over Leenock and Gumiho.

IIRC Arthur got on the team from their latest tryouts.
A little note... during the last FXOpen tournament, I gave you a bit of flak for your audio production. Everything else was really good, really, but pretty please, get the casters to use a good (and possibly the same) microphone!

That would be Wolf's mic as he was too poor to get a new one at the time He has a new one now don't worry!

Yeah, xigua definitely hasn't been on form lately. He got pretty destroyed in the Chinese IPL qualifier, by Loner if I remember correctly.

TSL4?
Based on the number of amazing Koreans in this this should atleast have higher level games. Both will be great but we'll see I guess. Plus I assume I will be awake when this is live but I may not be awake for TSL.

O_o
Everyone loves the FXOpenis, it is one of the best out there.
This is our biggest one yet. It doesn't stop growing.
Oh god the puns!
Either way, Good luck to Scarlett, Nerchio and Bly!! and good luck to the rest of the participants! Can't wait to see the final outcome of this tournament.

Aw. Sick lineup, anyway, I am looking forward to this. (By the way, you listed Choya as Zerg. Oversight or insider information on a race switch?)

JESUS is this tournament stacked. Unfortunately the only SEA player I see advancing is tgun. yang has a small shot too I suppose (PvP vs LoveCD could go either way and he might beat HyuN because he came SO CLOSE to beating DongRaeGu. No chances vs MMA).
The OP is now updated with a few changed broadcast times, as well as a work around for our German viewers. own3d were supposed to have a dedicated stream just for German viewers however they msg'd me this morning saying there was an issue and it wont be ready for today's broadcast, they are working round the clock until they get it fixed though

Internet issues from the Office, can't get any reasonable amount of bandwidth even with all the other PCs unplugged. We are going to just put the games from today straight to our youtube videos and try again tomorrow since we're already behind on the schedule.
why dont you let some 1 other cast that has a good internet connection though... watching the games live is 1000 better than going for vods, cause there are 100000000 spoilers than and i know how they did play before i even come to push the play button... please ask some other to cast it for you the 1 day....
