Green Forest Info We have extensive history with hosting LAN events and have had huge success so far. We've focused primarily on Starcraft II and are looking to expand to League of Legends. Our most recent large LAN tournament, the "1st Green Forest Cafe Starcraft 2 Tournament", was hailed with much success. There were 128 players battling to overcome one another, many from professional teams with highly competitive backgrounds. (Fnatic, EG, many with a prominent North American Brood War/Starcraft II background)
In addition, we had famous casters Diggity and Day[9] casting the finals which were held on a stage where the final competitors battled for the grand prize of $1500, played in soundproof booths much like the Korean tournament stages.
In follow up to the success of that event, we've been hosting smaller weekly Starcraft II tournaments where local talents can test their skills against each other for prizes and a chance at making a name for themselves.
Here is a highlight video of our previous Green Forest LAN tournament event:

That hype video, plus awesome prizing and personalities sounds absolutely amazing!
Seems like you'll have a stacked lineup of Starcraft 2 players there. Any idea of the teams for League of Legends? I'm excited to see Team Green Forest out in force, but I know there are a lot of great Cali teams (Kevin is a Noob, mTw.na, etc.) who I hope can give them a run for their money!
Let me know if you need any help planning/organizing/casting/producing. I can't wait to see this event blow its predecessor away!
Chris, its Joe (15 year old sc2 player, high diamond :D B.net name Highlander) if i pay the 15 dollars for registraion before the 64 player slots are filled and ill get in? im still diamond but if i pay the 15$ fee and not go through online qualifiers can i be in tournament? PM me or just write back on thread :D ty ty
Because i REALLY want to come and participate in tournament!! and i have been practicing a lot haha
Glad to see so much SoCal action this summer... its seriously amazing. And nice job on getting Day9! That must've set you back a bit, but will definitely get you noticed
Hoping to make it out for the event, hang with all the SoCal eSports folks
damnit; would love to cast for it - either sc2 or lol :3 shame im freaking on the other side of the planet - seems like another kick ass tourny; hf to everyone involved.

GIGABYTE and MSI are both set around MLG Anaheim, so we just kept their map pool.
Should bug MLG about that. We'd be happy to change it if they did.

QFT, MLG need to work on their pool, and if the players are already gonna be practicing maps for MLG, we're just allowing them to optimize their practice time.
We have streamlined our registration process! Please purchase and register your SC2 and LoL player passes at http://msibattlegrounds.eventbrite.com Registration ends Saturday, May 5th .
First twenty player registration receives a free mouse pad
Hope to see everyone at Green Forest in less than two weeks!

We are considering making the schedule easier on your wallet by moving the LoL side to Day 2-only, thus allowing us to finish SC2 up to ro16 in Day 1. What do you think?

yesss! love the new schedule, saturday= sc2 day :D and love how the finals START at 8pm as oppossed to winners/loser starting at that time, and also just curious, was there a shortage of LoL teams? cause i hope there is some competition for TGF

Yes, We changed our schedule little bit, so its more comfy for everyone. On day2, we can have all the matches, on stage. Also, TGF is not playing on tourney. They will be casting the event with RAP1D. We are planning to have showmatch, Winner of the tourney vs TGF after Grand Final. =)
I am so excited to be casting this tournament with Team Green Forest. This is a dream come true and I hope everyone will tune in for some awesome SoCal League of Legends and Starcraft II action Live from the Green Forest Cafe!
Thanks to MSi and Team Green Forest for this amazing opportunity but mostly, thanks to everyone supporting this event either in person, or online. None of this would be possible without you!

Glad to see you casting a socal event, rapid. Sorry the last tournament didn't work out. It was poor planning and my fault.

No worries, this is going to be huge! I'm looking forward to meeting you and other SoCal eSports personalities while I'm down there, so make sure to introduce yourself!
I'll definitely be trying to make it to this event, despite my conflicting schedule. These guys have a good track record of hosting great LANs~ There's going to be some great people there, should be a great event and it's in SoCAL! Day[9] alone is worth the drive!
Will casters be allowed to win any raffles? I could definitely use an upgrade over my current MSI Laptop to host more events and support local eSports.

Team EG is coming.
just wondering, is the whole EG team (that's in Arizona currently, I presume) still confirmed to be there on Saturday? didn't see them on the Registered/ invited list so i had to ask

I would assume, that it is only iNcontroL, Machine, Idra, LzGamer and Demuslim. Flying in JYP, Puma, HuK and ThorZaiN would be a bit expensive for a 6k-Lan.
GOSH! I was so planning on going ,but 2 of my 3 kids got really sick so i wont be able to attend to support my fellow socal friends gl to every1 that is going and gj to organizers and hosts!!! im gonna be watching the stream for sure!!!
Im at the marriot and they dont know about any msi battlefield tournament group discount. rate is 139$. Anyways the ventura players casino is nearby if anyone wants to play poker during any downtime.
Great little tourney with so few viewers. Violet/Select/Day9 in person and only 3k people watching? SCAN had 10k+ and it was played online with a tiny prize pool. At least you are on the TL sidebar! A few suggestions:
Get the stream listed under the game 'starcraft' on Twitch.tv. Edit: nice, fixed! Though your stream is still currently titled "Untitled Broadcast" ...
Web page showing pool results or brackets (there are free sites that will do this for you). Link from this thread and twitch info tab and the main stream description so it's right there on the page at all times.
Day9 mic is clipping like crazy, fix it if you can.
You will have inevitable downtime, but try to avoid ever cutting to static screen, even if you just mute audio and show an empty desk on video you will retain more viewers. Or cut to brackets at a minimum.
Submit a post to /starcraft and to /day9, saying you are live right now. Tell chat to upvote if they like what they see.
Appoint a few mods in chat (looks like that's been fixed, yay!).
This isn't online, you've got players there live in person but you'd never know it! Get a camera on them once in awhile. Or have them come to the desk or something between matches if you only have one camera.

That was built up after hours and hours, there were very few viewers at the start.
While I don't like cheering against itsGosu ... Go Go Violet!
Edit: Oldschool ling/bling/muta FTW! Though STX's pushouts seemed lacking in purpose aside from hoping to curb potentially rampant greed and get a bit of scouting. I could be entirely wrong though.
Edit 2: interesting, greedy build by violet. tons of drones and queens asap w/ reasonably fast upgrades on slings & infestors into 14 min greater spire. I like it and wonder what he saw that made him so comfortable going for the 3rd base w/out taking down the rocks vs hellions.
MSI is so happy to have your support. As a thank you, if we can surpass 10k viewers, MSI Battlegrounds will start giving away some prizes online as well. (Look above to see what we're giving out to spectators)
On May 14 2012 07:16 najreteip wrote: Shouldn't you be higher supply bio vs mech?
No it's a myth, mech has a very good mineral/gas ratio so it's easy to macro a big army with. What is true however, is that bio is supposed to give you more mobility, hence map control, so that you can easily be ahead in bases, leading to a lead in supply. At equal number of bases, it's not even weird to have the mech player ahead in supply.

I was polite, bothered no one. But accidentally banned and then powerhungry banned.
I hope in future events they have better mods =\
Edit: And yet completely ignore some racist comments on stream chat.
Misclicks happen. Our mistake - I have cleared the ban query.
Axlav pretty much threw that game after playing it very well in the earlygame. For some reason he just never walled of his natural and that ended up costing him the game
Start tweeting @msiusa and @msibattleground. We'll randomly pick a tweet and give away a Steel Series 7H USB Pro Gaming Headset at the end of MSI Battlegrounds to an online viewer.
Green Forest has doubled down, if we can hit 20k viewers, we'll give to an online viewer a MSI N560GTX Graphic Card.
someone insults me talking about balance in the chat. i say something with substance that is not the slight bit offensive and I get banned.. Other than the mods, and the awful jokes the casters are telling its been good. i really think beasty could have won that game, he just didnt get that 4th.
Grand Finals between iS.Axslav and Empire.viOLet will start shortly. As that the two met before in WR5, the BO7 ES series will start 2-0 in favor of viOLet.

good games from both sides, very impressed with Axslav's air-toss transition in the last game, definitely at the least he went out with a bang and put on a good show despite the 2-0 in the grand finals (4-0 extended series score).
best of luck in future events, Axslav and Infinity Seven fighting!
On May 14 2012 13:54 Geo3 wrote: So.... did violet not even drop a single map?
Nope. Violet 12-0 this whole tournament.Damn he is good.
Not to discredit anybody else (too badly), but there were very limited high quality players there. Nonetheless, you're right, it's very easy to accidentally throw away a game, so to go 12-0 is quite good.
great tournament, great staff, great coffee, friendly people;
bad internet, bad fps.
during group play i played on a computer that only capped 30 fps, and the admins told me 'every computer' had it. after looking around, i found out it was only mine. --;;
so i had to play my first tournament matches on it.
no big deal though, im sure they'll fix it next time this lan comes around.
awesome Tournament Sean and Chris, first hour or two on day one was a little crazy but after that everything was fun and smooth, except that dam projector screen lol
I really hope this is a yearly LAN event, that would be sick!
best of luck in the future, hope to be there in a couple weeks to play and drink boba! :D

With MSI Battlegrounds wrapped up, the Green Forest staff decided to put together some highlight reels to round out the event.
Competition like iS.Axslav, dSeleCT, and Empire.Beastyqt were no match for the Surgeon Zerg Empire.viOLet, whom went on a monstrous 12-0 run to take home the $3000 top prize on Mother's Day weekend! Congrats!
Day[9] live replay analysis - bnYwompbeatz (Z) vs dSeleCT (T) - mass queens!
Thank you for watching; a special thanks to the players, casters, and spectators that braved the elements and LA traffic to attend in person. Hope you enjoyed the event as much as we had hosting it.
