Seriously having this as a fun gsl league would be kinda awesome. Each team sends 2 players. Would give a chance to see lesser used players. And just hilarious.

Absolutely! It's not balanced at all right now, but if they started playing in tournaments then people would actually make good maps for it.
I think the casual population plays more 2s than 1s on the ladder anyway -- it's just for fun in a team.
I think a good first step would be to add a single 2v2 match to the team leagues. That's what CSL does.

The EG Masters Cup had this last season, I believe.
But they dropped it 'cause everybody hated it, I think. Or the games were low quality? Not sure why exactly, but they used to have it.
