Why do almost all swedes speak such good english? I have yet to hear a swede not knowing the basics.

Good education system

Trust me, the education in Sweden is not anything special, it is actually pretty slack-ish compared to many other countries in Europe. I guess we prioritize English though, since we are pretty good at it. Having all games/movies/shows in English helps too I guess.

I personally feel you Swedes are underestimating yourselfs, In most countries we seem to learn that Sweden(and Scandinavia) is the most welfaring country and that they have one of the best education systems and are apparently also the most happy people in the world. (least suicides probably?)

We have decent education, I agree, but nothing spectacular. As far as I know we dont rank close to top 10 in any international student assessment study, atleast in science/math. That being said, we are among the best at English.

Anyways, having grown up with two physics/maths teachers as parents I tend to be biased based on all the complaining through the years. =)

He was having a bit of fun and built masses of manner nexi when the game was already clearly clearly over, and his opponent was a 12 year old swedish player who Sase (and other swedish players) advertised heavily on twitter. SaSe kinda played with him and his opponent just didn't gg even though it was clearly over and people got their panties in a bunch.

You also pay massive amounts of taxes, so i'd say it's pretty much expected you get proper education and healthcare.

Sase v Najzmajs is one of the best sets I've seen in a while.

It was better than the GSTL finals at IPL, at least.

That's the Swedish spirit and probably the explanation to why we got so far (relatively speaking). The downside is that we often tend to focus on the bad and don't really appreciate the good. You can always do better, you know.

A generalization, of course.

It might have been the most stupid thing the community has gotten angry about so far. That or perhaps the KellyMilkies photo shoot.

Sase and a 12 year old, called NajzMajs who know eachother played where Sase beat him pretty easy 2-0. They tried to give NajzMajs as much exposure as possible since they were playing mainstage, he is 12 years old and in masters league after all. So Sase prolonged both games as much as he could and they even interviewed the 12 year old instead of Sase after the games were over.

I thought you had a high suicide rate during the long winter nights or is that an urban myth?

it's a myth. People don't commit suicide during winter, it's just that the polar bears comes out during the winter and not everyone manages to run away when it happens.

According to this list we're 30th: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_rates#List
But I feel like depression is very common here (especially having been depressed in the past myself)

How we got to this topic in a LR thread beats me though :D

This Dremhack system is one big FAIL. 8 hours of groups where all players from most of the groups advances. Most of games are just pro player raping some random master player. And to make it even longer there are 2 90 minutes breaks...

Don't know about suicide but the low amount of sun hours does affect some (aka: "winter depression"). The government should subsidize vitamine D.
