Why do almost all swedes speak such good english? I have yet to hear a swede not knowing the basics.

Good education system

Trust me, the education in Sweden is not anything special, it is actually pretty slack-ish compared to many other countries in Europe. I guess we prioritize English though, since we are pretty good at it. Having all games/movies/shows in English helps too I guess.

I spoke english before we ever had it in school, it's all about exposure.
Scandinavians are exposed to a lot of english, dubbing is silly.

Pretty much no dubbing whatsoever and a very "internetized" society indeed does wonders. Starting english early helps too obviously. The education system is probably not better or worse than the rest of northern/western EU.

Respect lost for SaSe. That actually made me angry.

Poeple flip shit about Nani not playing a game he didnt believe he could win, while you got this kinda shit going on? I hope people give him flak, because honestly that was the most unprofessional thing I ever seen in a sc2 tournament.

Really?

Yea really.

I see comments saying 'aw they're friends, chill out a little.

Yea, no. I like sc2, i want it to grow in a serious manner.

You do not see 'friends' in football purposely throw interceptions, or 'friends' in formula 1 give up a 2 lap lead just to make it interesting or whatever. It is unprofessional.

You want big sponsors and this shit to get public appeal, you can NOT do this kind of thing.

It takes the legitimacy out of the match. Imagine if that was the first match someone watched of pro sc2. What would they think of it?

If they are friends, he can plug him on his stream, or get him exposure in better ways, not by fucking around in a tournament to get him 'extra screen time'

People can get behind that story (12 year old at tournament plays a pro player) without that. The fact they interviewed him right after shows that. The buzz Maru gets shows that. Its a nice story you can dig in to.

But, and not just in sc2 but all "e-sports" i enjoy, I want this shit to be taken seriously.

I can not even imagine a sponsor can look at a player and go:

"Cool, I spent real money sending a player across a few countries, paid for his hotel, paid his entry, so he can do this tournament... and he repays me by fucking around with my brand attached to that."

I can not imagine a sponsor wanting to sponsor a tournament when they think players dont take it seriously all the way, and use it as a venue to joke around.

If you wanna say its fine because they are friends, thats your opinion, but honestly, this is something that needs to be cut from our tournaments if you want sc2 to be a public thing. Just like we need to cut the shorthand talk, keep things professional, knock it off with the in-jokes, and all the other changes we need.

Your opinion is just what side of the fence you are on.

I want sc2 to get as big as NFL. And you do not see that kind of shit in the NFL. Period. Please reference a game in professional sports (traditional sports) that something like that happened, and I will gladly eat my words and apologize. I was outspoken about Naniwa vs Nestea, and I am on this as well. Thats all I can do as a spectator, give my opinion.

Yeah, youll never catch players in the nfl showing off. Ohwait...

More of the equivilent of doing a non-standard strategy or manner mules, a sweet micro trick, or doing something purposely complicated just to do it.

They will do a flashy dunk, or slow a run into the endzone a little bit. They dont turn around at the 1 yard line and run backwards to the defense. Theres a line beyond looking fun for the fans, and clearly no longer taking it seriously.

Bad example because showing off in pro sports gets you exposure, is a good photo op, highlight reel on sportscenter, etc etc.

Get your point, do not agree.

I personally feel you Swedes are underestimating yourselfs, In most countries we seem to learn that Sweden(and Scandinavia) is the most welfaring country and that they have one of the best education systems and are apparently also the most happy people in the world. (least suicides probably?)

I have lived in Sweden 1 year, and if they are the happiest people in the world, then they should really think about showing it more, I have never seen people smiling so rarely as the Swedes.

They are exceptional on many points though, and everyone speaking a decent english is one of them, but come on guys, smile

So, do you all think shitting on a 12 year old that has come to fulfil his dreams at his first tournament is OK ? he probably doesn't have a thick skin, he's not gonna just shrug it off. Yea sure it's a tough tournament, but give the guy some slack and don't completely humiliate him.

I think Finland has the best education while Norway probably has the most amount of happy people. Sweden is still among the best though, I feel grateful living here.

So because they have a break in games so players can rest between what could have been a hard group stage into a harder group stage you complain? Please get real. The break has been in the official schedule, no matches are being played right now so of course the stream should be on break too. This is the right way to do it. Not like MLG or IPL do it, where you know, when the stream in on break, there are matches going on which you are missing.

Last years event was really good, granted i saw it live but still, heard that everyone was happy with the stream quality/wait time and stuff. This ''new'' format they have this year makes makes it a whole lot trickier....

I can't say IPL broadcasted as much of the IPL 4 open bracket as they could have... ^^

And learn from MLG? In my experience it has been quite the opposite before atleast.
Furthermore, I think the Collosi should be removed! (Zorgaz -Terran/AbrA-Random/Zorg-Dota2) Guineapigs <3

Well, for better or worse, you understand now why MLG/IPL wants to have a format where theres high quality games played all day. DH wont have many good games until 3rd group stage probably, which is in like 6h. You really dont miss much if you do something else until then.

Sase v Najzmajs is one of the best sets I've seen in a while.
