Hard to deal with ling/bane with only no-speed lings and spines/queens. Too bad i guess.

Yeah, Daisuki's control was so sloppy. I guess detonating banes on queens is a good choice.

Once he lost the queens he didn't have much to block it anymore. Roaches would have been able to withstand more baneling hits.

Idra knocked out... incredible to think he made a GSL quarterfinal once upon a time, that looks impossible right now.

Prize pool compared to the quality of play is fucking stupid. This was probably the least exciting of all the qualifiers.

Only in good spread. Roaches tend to clump up and can be easily soften by banes to be killed by lings. I doubt he had time to control everything perfectly. Its hard as hell to withstand 1-base ling/bane all-in.

And he lost his queens because they were in the wrong position. They were not blocking the ramp at all. You don't need roaches to hold off 14/14 baneling all-in, you do need to play smart.

killiing both queens was a good choice, whether the detonation changed that battle or not can't be seen though. He had an chance to detonate on two queens though and took it.

That's actually very cool when you think about it though. Maybe it means the NA scene is gonna get some sick new blood to carry the torch.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

Because the BIG NAME American players are no longer the best American players, and haven't been for a while. This is what happens when you value celebrity over skill. We need less invite only shit and more open tournaments to show this. Some of America's best are not even on a fucking team.

He was a staple player from sixjax. But aside from him, only NonY and IdrA are former top NA. The rest is upcoming who confirms (Illusion, State, Gowser, Perfect, theognis, Ranged and Hawk) or more unknown players (Suppy, daisuki, Mystik, HelloKitty, Insur, fitzyhere).

The NA is still weaker than the EU one by far but these new guys are the lifeline of SC2. Should they all fail in the long run, it would be disastrous for everyone else.

This tournament is ideal to showcase some new talent. Players can BECOME a big name by delivering here and similar tournaments. Scarlet became a name when she did well at IPL4.

I think this tournament really shows a problem with the NA scene. Half of those who make it into the NA Finals made it from a qualifier. The large problem with the NA scene is a combination of mid-tier koreans winning what should be the minor tournaments for NA (Playhem, etc) and the old boys club that SC2 is in NA. The big name SC2 players for NA are pretty much all former BW players.

There is no really good way for lower NA players to rise up. There needs to be more qualifiers, less invites in tournaments. There needs to be more NA only tournaments like WCS is. This would help to really make the NA scene more interesting.

You have to fault the big sc2 teams in NA scene valuing popularity over skill. No wonder the NA scene is in such schambles. It is just not worth it to be good. Destiny makes more money sitting at home flaming daisuki on reddit.
