Was looking forward to Puma vs Stephano all day. I am not Stephano's fan or something, but you people... Guy went to vacation with his FAMILY and bunch of you folks acting like he didn't play this match because he doesn't care or something. (doesn't matter he didn't notice NASL earlier at least not for the point I am trying to make, his match wouldn't be played anyway.) I don't care about that. But do you realize how many times he has not shown up to online tournaments. Hell he even forfeited the finals of one tournament because he was "tired". Almost any other pro would show more passion and gratitude for being allowed in a tournament than Stephano... Your posts pretty much comes down to you not caring about anything but the entertainment he can give you, when he fails to do that you hate him. I would argue that his posts pretty much come down to Stephano not taking plenty of tournaments seriously, or their rules, or the fans that want to watch him play in the tournaments that he signs up for and then ignores (including Millenium's own tournament, which he didn't show up for after agreeing to play in, and is now temporarily banned from... how can you even ignore your own team's Pro Cup and let your team down countless times in both that tournament and other team tournaments x.x). You argue poorly based on his two posts, in this thread, then. Imo Bringing those things up when he is just on a skiing vacation with his family shows an egoistical attitude about him being inconvenienced because he could not watch Stephano play a match versus Puma for his entertainment. Since they hardly have much in common with this current situation (Stephano skiing) versus earlier situations (Stephano skipping games for less acceptable reasons) Except one thing, he didn't end up playing the match that this dude who hates him wanted to see. Do you hate him, too? Or are you a bit more balanced in who end up in the box of people you feel justified to directly hate as a person? Considering you're assuming everyone who rolls his eyes at Stephano being a no-show... which is the norm... must hate him, it's a bit hypocritical to say anyone else is jumping to conclusions. I have incredibly great respect for Stephano as a player. Amazingly talented. Possibly the best foreigner (or top three at least, not going to argue between Naniwa and others). However, he has not earned my respect as a person, because of his consistent immaturity and terrible decision-making. He's generally irresponsible and doesn't take tournaments seriously. I think he has a lot of growing up to do in general. That's my opinion, and it comes from a multitude of Stephano's controversies. Stephano took a vacation and so could not play this game. Some people make it sound like a crime. You want his family to postpone their family vacation for another 2 months when NASL is finished? How exactly does that fit in to the ski-season? You think there will be much ski-ing to be done in June?
This isn't about Stephano taking a vacation, it's about his history of blowing off tournaments. This is just the most recent one where he gave NASL little to no notice until a walkover was unavoidable.

Starcraft is his job. If you are working a job, you don't simply go on vacation without giving anyone proper notice.
Thats all there is to it, if you cannot understand that then I suggest you don't post anymore on matters such as these.

I think he has a lot of growing up to do in general. That's my opinion, and it comes from a multitude of Stephano's controversies. Stephano took a vacation and so could not play this game. Some people make it sound like a crime. You want his family to postpone their family vacation for another 2 months? How exactly does that fit in to the ski-season? I don't think anyone said it's a crime, but I only read through the entire thread once. However, Xeris did note that if a player can't play in a match, NASL needs to be notified a week in advance to set up the new match (and he gave great justification for this protocol), and Stephano didn't abide by the rules (and Stephano very commonly ignores the rules whenever he leaves a tournament, regardless of how innocent the rationale ends up being). A lot of us are just upset that Stephano didn't make an effort to try and set up a new time to play with Puma. That's just pretty much it. We feel let down. It's certainly not a crime, but it seems that he's not that serious about the tournament. And, for the record, I'm sure he knew about his family vacation more than a week in advance.
Well, Stephano made a special effort to play his first match in NASL3 wednesday morning last week at 4.30 am last week, he was massively jet-lagged having just arrived back from IPL4 the previous day. He then flew off on holiday at some time last Friday. So maybe there was not enough time to play Puma during that period of less than 2 days. Puma himself had to recover from his own travels to Vegas and back (to Korea?). As NASL do not postpone matches, Stephano could not play Puma unless he managed to do so from his ski-resort. Until he actually gets to his hotel/chalet/appartment there is no way Stephano could know whether he had sufficiently stable internet connection to play Puma this week or not.
I don't feel that Stephano missing this appointed game due to a ski-trip with his family is evidence of a lack of commitment to NASL. Yes he should have notified NASL last week about his ski-trip, but maybe he planned to play from his resort but found this was not possible due to his internet there and then notified NASL.
Yes it is disappointing for the fans and the tournament about this match not being played but players will go on vacations from time to time and have to take days off to deal with personal issues.
I thought last Friday when Stephano tweeted about his vacation that this would mean he would miss his NASL match and that the usual suspects will bash him for doing this. And lo and behold.

NASL is getting some Badass-level production value. Most impressive!

No a walkover was unavoidable because Stephano could not play Puma due to a family vacation scheduled almost immediately after IPL4. Stephano could not play Puma in between arriving back from USA from IPL4 and then leaving for his ski-trip a few days later. He already interrupted his efforts to reset his sleep patterns in order to play TT1 in NASL last week while jet-lagged.
This vacation is nothing to do with his blowing off past tournaments. This whole drama is just the haters whining because a player they hate took a weeks vacation causing him to miss a game during the 2 month long stage of NASL.

Giving proper notice would not have altered anything regarding this game not being played. Stephano is on vacation. He did not have sufficient time to play the game with Puma in the brief time he had arriving back from IPL4 and then leaving for his ski-trip last week. NASL have stated they do not allow games to be postponed. Stephano's schedule of travelling and his vacation prevented him from playing this game at the scheduled time or to play it ahead of time last week.
Anyway haters gonna hate regardless of sufficient cause or not.

I don't care about that.
I don't hate him. That doesn't make sense. I don't know him personally. I didn't say you hate him, I asked you if you also, do. But I am glad you are clear minded enough to see that it indeed does not make sense to decide to hate a person based on him not showing up to play a match. To bring up reasons to point out how you find him immature, irresponsible and "it is the norm he is a no-show" <-- statements like this. That, is the type of thing that does not demand respect for someone's person. If you ask me. You decided to foam at the mouth for no logical reason, at Stephano, the eagerness to do so is what can be telling. So justifying an opinion with evidence is... illogical? o.O ::head explodes:: Double signing contracts, playing in simultaneous tournaments and then quitting, leaving countless tournaments (including Millenium's), etc. These aren't good reasons to not care for a person's character? Have you not followed these Stephano problems? All right, well suit yourself. I'm not going to talk about this anymore and muck up the thread. He's not even a part of tonight's games. No, foaming about those issues, because he did not play a bo3 today, because he is skiing with his family, is what is telling about you. I don't think I can make it clearer, you saw apples and started to spew at him about oranges. Starcraft is his job. I like Stephano, but I think he should have notified NASL last week, knowing that he could not play. Even if a walkover was unavoidable it is just common courtesy to inform the counterparty of his unavailability.

Cloud has been doing particularly well lately.
But man, NightEnd played terrible there. He'd been playing so well lately, and then there's his whole move to Korea... surprising. Very surprising.

A lot of people get depressed when they are exposed to the Korean style in its fullest incarnation. Naniwa and Morrow went through those periods as well.

Dat dog!!! His cuteness is so IMBA, nerf it!!!

NightEnd could also not have been completely used to the Korea to NA latency by now. Expect him to play better in future weeks, I think.

You are quite correct. I also have said the same upthread. However some folks are complaining about him not playing the game rather than the lack of notification of unavailability. I was just pointing out that Stephano's schedule with IPL4 and then his vacation meant he did not have time to play Puma last week. So if he had been responsible and notified NASL last week then he still would have been had to give Puma a walkover this week.
It is interesting to note that some of those who are criticising Stephano over his vacation are the same posters who took swipes at him during the recent Millenium-Mouz series despite Stephano winning his series there against Thorzain.
