Maybe he'll get that one... It'd be best if he said not effective against an Alive type.

I guess squirtles massive kill list didn't give him enough experience points to evolve into a blastoise.

He's the best foreigner for sure and can definitely compete with mid tier koreans but as you just said he lost to all the top ones so I wouldn't go so far. if his games were 2-0 lose against nestea/mkp, i can say you are right, but score was 2-1 with such a close games.
he is just outclassed against MMA @game 2.

Stephano can compete with almost all Koreans, I have no doubt he would do good even in Code-S.
I just feel he still got to much respect for korean terrans. Almost like there is some bone in there thats still saying he cant beat them...

I just feel he still got to much respect for korean terrans. Almost like there is some bone in there thats still saying he cant beat them... The zergs can't beat the very top terrans, or are very unlikely to, even if the ghost nerf have made it less horrible.
And before the "rah-rah, DRG!!1" start, remember that:
1) It is his statistically worst match-up by a large margin ( http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/details.php?section=sc2-international&type=players&id=2627&part=games&league=standard&vs=T ),
2) That something like 80% of top korean terrans have vs Z as their best match-up
3) That zergs are heavily under-represented in the GSL - worse so in the later parts of the tournament
4) That the IPL tournamnet where each major team choose a player to compete in the tournament ended up with 1 zerg being chosen by his team as most likely to win
5) That only 1 zerg qualified for the IPL group-play through open brackets (top 8) ( http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=327341 )
6) That there were 1 zerg in the recent korean MLG qualifer top 8( http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_MLG_Pro_Circuit/Spring/Qualifier/Open )
The very best terrans are heavily favored versus zerg, and it's a matter of balance.

I think people underestimated how sick Stephano was in their g1 because of the show MMA put on in g2. In G1 for most of the game, Stephano had managed to deny /any/ worker kills whatsoever. Stephano is pretty damn impressive... it's just that like you say MMA's TvZ is absurd (yet he won't do an SCfou style tvp t.t).

I love Stephano and is far and away the best foreigner and would do ok in Code S but the only reason he got a win vs MarineKing was because MKP did the same build in the regame (first game dced) and Stephano took advantage of this by all-inning.

Even in g2 i was impressed by stephano. As a former Zerg i was in horror while as current Terran i was also in awe of what MMA unleashed on poor Stephano and Stephano still managed to almost keep up with the multitasking of MMA, he even managed to get quite a huge army out. I wish i was even half as good as either of them.

I'm personally a big supporter of aLive. It's the job of these players to entertain us and playing exciting styles. It's their job to win and bring home the cash. Yeah aLive did a good deal of all-in kinds of play, he did it because it worked. It's all about the "anything to win" mindset. In addition, this event was long as hell, especially by the last day. Playing more drawn out macro games would only wear aLive more so his style is very beneficial for him.
On a side note - are the IPL4 game replays going to be released/are they available anywhere?
Thanks.

In my opinion he play very much like MVP did in his prime, extremely orthodox and by the book playstyle, solid allaround builds and very patient and well prepared builds. I like long-therm skills more than flashy marine control like MMA or MKP so I really love this guy.
I don't think hes doing all-ins at all imo, he's patiently pushing his opponent with very good harass all game long until he finds a good opportunity, his opponents mostly die to this push and some not (like nestea holding out incredible long the whole serier even though great disturbance from alive with drops and denied expansions almost all games and holding his big pushes).
