But it's kinda funny that MMA is unbeatable in zvt (As far as I can tell from TLPD he hasn't lost a single series) but just completely falls apart in tvp Im pretty sure Stephano would have had a much better chance vs Squirtle than MMA.

And the games against Nestea were too bad as well. Picking Taldarim as your last map in zvz is kinda a cheap move since you don't get any scouting info so it's much more build order based.

But man! Amazing performance by Stephano! It's nice that there is atleast ONE bloody guy from outside of Korea who knows how to play this game.

i went bed/stop watching as well after stephano eliminated, haha

but i still want to thanks stephano, he was the only reason for watching IPL 4.He is the only foreigner player in top 16, also he beat legit GSL players like Bomber/JYP/Curious, played toe to toe with best ZvZer NesTea, such a close games against Marineking and losing to best TvZer MMA.

at the end, stephano shows he is a legit player and skilled as top koreans.

ps: haters gonna hate.

For me it's because Alive is really boring to watch. He has a solid playstyle but nothing flashy and it feels to me like he pretty much all-in's every other game. There are players that all-in frequently but at least do it with style, Alive doesn't.

Especially Game1 vs Nestea in the winner bracket finals was disgusting. Still respect him for being an amazing player though as is evident by him winning this tournament.

I will also feel sorry for the community if they remember StarTale over Prime, with Prime's star player destroying ST's entire star line up.

Oh come on, that's so not fair to StarTale/PartinG; if he'd been given the victory instead it would've been PartinG/Bomber/Squirtle/Curious vs Creator/Byun => ST would almost surely have won.

I don't understand the dislike of Alive. Sure Squirtle's run was great (I was cheering for him as soon as Bomber was like "Startale fighting" as he tapped out), but Alive won and he did it with multiple strategies. I think it's a shame that people are crapping on Alive's win when he hasn't done anything to deserve such a reaction from the fans.

Personally my favorite game was the regame between Squirtle and Nestea (not the fact that there was a regame but the game itself).

I've got nothing against aLive, just like Squirtle's fairytale-run a lot more.

Hmmm gave up watching already after stephano lost to nestea.
To bad squirtle didnt win.

Just looking at that... 15 Koreans and 1 Stephano at 5-6th place. Not bad.

Last edit: 2012-04-10 01:59:53

Ya he did great, only forgeigner amongst 15 top koreans, then place 6 is not bad at all to say the least.
Still hate to see him loose lol.

I was super impressed with Squirtle.

The rest of the top finishers I could have easily seen scoring up there. Squirtle... I was pleasantly surprised. Well done!

Ok event, not as great as previous IPL events imo. And sadly a boring winner, but IGN can't help that. The lack of western players made it less interesting too.

The foreign scene needs a superstar that demolishes koreans and shows the way, shows that it's possible to beat the top players. Stephano is on par with the majority of them but he's a tier below the absolute top still. Unfortunately the train is already starting to move and it feels like what we have is what we get when it comes to foreign players. If none of the existing players will step it up, it's very unlikely any newcomers will take such a huge leap it requires. At the moment it's steering towards SCBW all over again.

I dont agree that Stephano is a tier below the absolutle top he lost to MMA and Marineking in there best matchup and in Stephano´s worst. His lose against Nestea I feel he should have won but no shame it happend sometimes. Stephano did amasing top 6 is incredible. Even MMM and MKP lost 2 games where they got 2-0 they are a tier below the absolut top? ofcourse not.

Nahh Stephano proved he belong to the top of the sc2 scene. I consider Stephano a top 3 zerg rigth after Nestea and DRG.

how can you even say that? Just because he does well againt the top in a one weekend tourney there are still so many better zergs. He has to prove himself in code A imo. I feel like any code a korean can give stephano a run for his money.

he's on par with these zergs except DRG and Nestea

Yep.

DRG is faster.

Nestea has a bigger bag of tricks.

Zergs I put around the same level as Stephano are Leenock, July, Curious, Life, Symbol, and Lucky, all of whom have their ups and downs.

That said, I don't think Stephano is able to do well in the GSL, because he doesn't have a good team around him in Korea.

He's the best foreigner for sure and can definitely compete with mid tier koreans but as you just said he lost to all the top ones so I wouldn't go so far.

You could say that Squirtle was... not very effective against Alive.

Maybe he'll get that one...
