Holy shit I didn't realize that MVP was that far ahead of everyone else lmao
Well the Gom World Championship counts, and Blizzard Cup doesn't, for whatever reason. It's not a big deal anyways, but the number of games played is still pretty similar, minus the Korea vs World team match.
I don't believe I'm saying this, but I kind of miss having Polt in code S. It doesn't feel right not having him or TOP around.
P.S. I scrolled up after posting and saw the female foot, and I instantly knew what the picture would be.

Well, they couldn't really do placing in groups since you had 8 #1 and only 4 groups. Since they are changing the format, they kind of had to come up with something. Could have been 2011 Nov placings, or GSL points and I guess they picked GSL points. If they went with Nov placing, it would be 1)Jjakji 2&3) Oz/MVP 4) MMA or Puzzle or ALive. Guess they didn't do Nov placing because you would need to have to have a random draw for MMA/Puzzle/Alive. I am not saying 2011 points is fair either but I don't think there is a perfect solution.
|
Also, they kind of 'rewarded' the top 8 already since Jjakji and Leenock got to pick (although they had to pick from Tier 4) and also Top 8 was in Tier 1 so they didn't end up having to play each other. It was different from previous GSLs in that the Top 8 got to pick anyone first and so forth. But again, with the change in format/selection process, not much they can do.
I think as long as they are consistent from now on (at least till the end of 2012) and the players know this, it is ok. Guess it sucked that players didn't know until November GSL was over and the Top 8 players thought they would get to pick for next GSL. And once 2011 GSL points are wiped after this GSL, Finishing Top 4 will garantee a pick for next GSL Ro 16.

It would be a lot closer of Gom counted the GSL Opens. That's a championship for Nestea and a championship for MC disregarded in terms of points.

I think they only counted all the gsls in 2011.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. My point was simply that if someone wants to use points as a metric for achievements then it's important to realize that the points disregard achievements from the GSL Opens. That's not to say that DarkPlasmaBall was talking about achievements in particular, but I still thought I'd add that in to give food for thought. There's a reason why Nestea and MVP are both 3-time champions yet MVP is so significantly ahead of Nestea in points.

the level will be insane, there are all the best players in the gsl(exept leenock maybe)! i just hope we will see few mirrors.

So how is Chae gonna extend this? With only 16 people and no swapping picks, this is gonna be pretty quick. They should just steal MBC's legacy and make the players dress up/do ceremonies.

swapping picks is legendary

Oh Genius doesn't just serve Bulgogi, he also serves kick ass.

Hmm time to decide who will be picked last.
Going to go with my gut and say Alive. Seems to be a quiet dude and I don't think anyone has any sort of fight to pick with him, plus I don't see anyone thinking of him as a weak player. Though I could see someone picking him simply because he is teamless at the moment... but I will stick with my pick nonetheless.

Maybe they can show highlights from Ro32 and ask the players how they felt at the moment of something? This is the first group selection where the players have already played some games.

Won't be picked by terran or zerg, and I don't think a protoss wants him too.
