I've always wondered why MMA's weakest matchup is Protoss, considering he is a primarily bio player known for his drops and multi-tasking, skills very important in the matchup. Anybody got some insight?

The way you bio is different in all matchups. The overall theme is the same (fast upgrades, making it difficult to hold multiple bases, getting your own bases up quickly), but the end game is a little different. He might not be comfortable in his transitions between ghosts and vikings/medivacs or he could be overextending himself on drops and leaving his main army susceptible to the death ball or any number of other things.

Completely unrelated, but did anyone else watch the SlayerS players talk, but hear Ryung's voice?

I nearly setup a LR thread for the open season 3, each day of this week we would have watched it in live condition to fix our GSL dose =)

The banter between DRG and Nestea was very amusing.

Caster: Tea ZvZis your best matchup
Tea: yes but I'm confident I can pretty much beat everyone here.

*explains he wanted to pick gumi but MVP wanted him.

Tea then basically says he picked DRG because his team suggested it. The caster then asks if tea wanted DRG. Tea then implies that he did but needed a reason/excuse.

DRG responds by saying he is shocked and will help his opponents practice. Tea then retorts that DRG will be nothing more than a practice partner.

A lot of the older players then joked about how DRG was a terrible human who has no respect (throughout the whole event)

They also speak to supernova because he is always last.

MC said he picked ganzi because they are close and he wants to get into RO8. Ganzi then says MC picked him because MC thinks he is easy picking, so when it's ganzi's turn he picks jakji instead of a Protoss and says we can both beat MC.

Ganzi also said he wants to get into ro4 at least so he can pick MMA. He said he was jealous that MMA gets to go to so many tourneys. A lot of people wanted MMA for some reason.

When puzzle picked parting he said he thinks parting is taking code a too lightly and needs to be taught a lesson.

MC also said PvT is not a problem anymore. All they do is build marauders, botch some drops then roll over and die.

Sorry for the lack of organization. I was just sharing some of my favorite bits.

It was really long so I'm not going to translate everything but if anyone is curious about any specific conversations let me know.

Predictions;

A: MVP Could use just mouse and win, How did he get so lucky? Second I'd say Curious since both other players looked kinda sloppy.

B: MMA and Oz. MMA is probably the best player in the world right now and Oz is so solid a bit below MC when MC's on but very much more consistant.

C: Jjakji and MC. Ganzi has no chance with BossToss and Verygoodtoss in his group even 1/1/1ing due to 3 maps ea. Parting is not MC.

D: Group D. Uh...WTF? Whatever I'll be glued to LCD.

MVP mind gameD he said he picked gummi knowing he would pick a Zerg.
And since there he knew tea was picking a DRG it was going to be curious. And I guess curious and alive have some kind of rivalry going on (alive got really fired up when he got picked).... Yeah MVP is so godamn smart.

Also OZ said he thinks MC is the best toss but he would be the close second.

How come people think MMA is the best.

Jjajkji and MVP have shown far more solid play.

Both Jjajkji and MVP advanced in the last set and 3rd game of that set while MMA completely dominated in his group and just came back with an IEM cup. What do you think? Jjajkji and MVP both have no chance against MMA in TvT for sure.

MVP's hardly the best. His last GSL win was the one before blizzcon. There is no absolute best right now, especially since these "best" players have terrible vP.

http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments

Still more MVP in this than any other player, and that's with recent results in mind.

Besides guys, I know people think the "absolute best" needs to have 95% winrates in all matchups and only lose to the 2nd best player in the world, but I do think MVP can be justifiably the best player in the world.

Of course, it's something that can change and MMA is starting to build up some results so if he wins this GSL, even as a MVP fan, it's pretty likely I'd rate MMA as the best player in the world also.

But yeah, interesting how so many top players say they're struggling with Protoss nowdays. Not that Protoss is cleaning up anywhere anyway...

I feel like at least one of the people if not both players out of Group D will be in the finals for sure. The odds are against it but I think the players can be that good.

I can assure you MVP most definately have a good shot at winning a TvT vs MMA

MMA is probably the best in TvT and TvZ.

His TvP is awful. Like, dogshit compared to other GSL players. For the past couple of seasons he's been lucky in that hardly any Protoss were doing well. This season is the Return of Protoss(tm) so MMA will have his work cut out. Either Oz or MC could beat MMA handily in a TvP in my opinion.

That's a pretty big assumption to make seeing as how MMA is Mvp's kryptonite.
