Forget splitting your army in different locations; even within the army they just have everything on one hotkey, so naturally you get everything mixed up with zealots at the back etc. The immortal range buff was necessary because Protoss would have them at the back of the army where they would neither tank nor deal damage. I've seen pretty much all top protoss make basic mistakes like this. Ok I think that's just ridiculous. If there's one race that punishes these sorts of mechanics it's toss. It's the race least forgiving for looking away from a battle yet you have to look away to reinforce. You have more units of differing speeds... That's just a completely absurd and ridiculous statement. =.= Top end control is usually the hallmark of toss players. Such a wierd matchup. Always interesting these days. How long til the muta ball. Just dont let it get going. Zealots popping... -->> Why do they forcefield infront of the roacheswhen he wasnt retreating. oooh Gonna be tough goign home for genius.

There is actually a reason most pro Protoss keep their army in 1 control group. The army is most of the time a ball, and controling it with several control groups yields troubles with stutter stepping while macroing. What you need to do though is split your army to defend multipronged attacks, and split your spellcasters in different control groups to activate their spells quickly (sentries/templars). The rest can be done with the mouse, within 1 control group.

Terran can just scan ahead and see if he can attack. Even if he makes a bad decision he can stim and run back. You don't even need collossi. The trick in defending drops as protoss is to fortify the bases beforehand, leave an HT for feedback and a few cannons there, so you can buy time or kill a single drop completely. Realistically, if you fortify the bases before you start mining handling drops shouldnt really be a problem. It's just when you have no static defense and you are forced to split your army, then it gets though, but that's the protoss player's fault. If anything, the race that gets punished the most for looking away from the army is terran. If you get surprised your bio ball melts within seconds when you don't kite and your marine/tank army (in TvZ) gets absolutely annihilated if you get caught unsieged. Protoss has a lot of room for error, because they have tanking units (zealots) and units that can simply be a moved while still being effective (chargelots, archons, collossi).
