If you don't know how to post in a live report thread by now, be advised: don't whine about game balance and don't bash players/casters/interviewers/staff/other posters. And don't start the USA USA USA!!! stuff.

You just need to realize that esports is a legit business. It is where hard-trained cyber-athletes clash to prove their outstanding gaming skills.

You must remember this: esports is serious stuff now. By no means it should be anymore associated with terms such as "fun" or "having a good time".

Apparently Take does a horrible job with th HSC IV, reminding people that playing and watching Starcraft can be so much fun! It's like he's killing esports 50k viewers at a time.

I think that HSC IV has too be stopped, someone should make an online petition for it or something.

you would never see this sort of stuff in any Korean tournament, because there is a line of integrity that will never be crossed in Korea. It denigrates esports by having a drunk party atmosphere in a tournament, how can we expect others (the outside world) to take esports seriously, when the pro gamers themselves aren't taking it seriously.

I talk to my parents and other people about esports and sc2, they are always intrigued about how massive the scene is.. now imagine someone like myself got their parents to watch today, how embarrassing would it be? I know most of you don't give a shit about this sort of stuff, but the last 20-30mins was really painful for me to watch. Like I said before, the relaxed feel of the tournament is awesome, but when the hosts are getting drunk they need to be replaced until they become sober.

Also what do sponsors think when they see their shirt on a guy wasted out of his mind that he doesn't even know what hes talking about? Growth of esports my ass.

Please, everyone at the tournament is joking around, even the sober people, and even the koreans. Homestory cup has always been very different from other tournaments, and they don't try to act as professional as possible (well, not your kind of professional at least). They always tell tons of party/drinking stories, and it has always been partying involved. I can't see why you would be embarrased showing this to your parents, especially in this context. But if you get embarassed this might not be the tournament you should show them, and it is up to you (And you call that wasted out of your mind? Get out and see some really drunk people so you can tell the difference please).

And to be honest you sound like some conservative old lady that can't handle seeing half naked people on TV.

The reality though is that esports isn't real sports. No, you're not going to see anything like this in the NFL or a more "professional" league. Ordinarily I would say that SC2 should emulate professional sports leagues, but there's also room for doing things that traditional sports don't do.

The fact that in SC2 we can get away with a much more relaxed atmosphere is something that can be used for innovation and to increase its popularity. Could it get out of hand? It could, but remember we're talking about one tournament out of how many? Even if you only count major tournaments it's still quite a few-- that would at least count every GSL, IEM, MLG, DH, NASL, TSL, IPL and I probably missed some. The SC2 scene simply can't be said to lack serious tournaments.

And then the last thing I'll mention is that they advertised, up front and throughout the tournament, that there would be drinking involved. If you don't want to see people in the SC2 community get drunk, and if you're worried about watching that with people, then you know that this isn't the tournament for you. Show your friends and family any of those other tournaments, which are by far the majority.

Why post the same inane shit several times?

because people like you don't understand the point i'm trying to make.

I have to agree with a lot of what SuperFanBoy says here. I understand that the HSC is more about a 'relaxed' environment and thus there will be some things that do not appear to be the 'norm' for eSports or what we should expect moving forward.. but his point that this sort of event should not be what we portray eSports to be if we want to grow it as a viable competitive/business industry is valid.

It is hard for many of you to understand where he is coming from I think...because for most of you, SC2 IS esports. The truth is.. it is not and these sort of discussions were being had over 10 years ago. For those of us who have been involved in eSports for that long, it can be frustrating to hear all of the "lets take eSports to the next level" talk.. while at the same time we support sub standard casting (because someone can trash on players and uses the N word a lot) or we all show up to support events/streams where players and commentators get drunk on stream... or worse yet we support players and casters over the competition.

We also have to remember that for everyone post in here where someone is praising the actions/events happening on stream at the HSC .. there are many out there that feel just the opposite but are less likely to say it. SuperFanBoys points are valid (for him and many others) and it does provoke important conversation.

Personally, I am liking a lot of what the HSC is about because I see if for what it is.. if the sponsors what to put the clamps down on the activities involved.. that will be their choice. I agree.. some of the on-air drunkenness is a bit annoying.. but oh well..it is their event.

my 2.5 cents
