Because not enough people pay to watch these things yet. Not really, but seriously, if there were more paying customers asking for a different format, there would be justifiable reason to make it happen. Otherwise it's hard to justify the cost of the studio and all the related expenses. Sponsors and advertisements aren't going to cover all the expenses necessary to keep eSports going.

Of course I think Mvp would happily lose this tournament if he was given a choice between it and WCG. Representing your country and emulating past BW legends probably means more to him than this tournament, even though it is bigger in terms of recognition. I don't see Mvp will losing to Polt though. Mvp has repeatedly said how much this tournament means to him, cus it would set his title of best player of 2011 in stone. And if Mvp really wants something in a tournament, I dont think anyone can stop him :D! except MMA and DRG.
The way MMA played today, I don't think MVP will have a problem against him

I love how people hate on Naniwa regardless of what ever the fuck he does. "oh noes he lost a fan in me cause he didn't care about a FUCKING MEANINGLESS game"...... Damn. He lost and was out, he is a winner and probably didn't even want to be there.

About which MVP responded "I feel pity about losing to DRG. I had a chance to win but I lost my concentration as the game shifted to the late game phase. I got impatient and went for a rush when I shouldn't. Losing a game that I could possibly win is always pitiful."

Too bad the record between them is like 10-3?

because both were out of the tournament the game didnt matter. why do they even have the game in the first place? its kinda silly because both players have no reason to fight their hardest or show potential secret builds
he probably wasnt allowed to give walkover so he just did whatever ended the game the quickest
do you guys really wanna watch 2 guys play a casual game during GSL blizzard cup where neither of them cares about winning?
im not saying what naniwa did was right or wrong, or manner or bad manner. im just saying i think the system should allow for walkovers if they players request it if the game has no meaning

Idk maybe because with bo1 today's cast lasted 5 hours and if it was bo3 group stage then it woulda been 10-15 hours which gom never does and would be quite painful for the players and casters..? They wanted to do group play because this is supposed to be the best players of 2011 and it's nice to see them all play each other to see who is the most well rounded rather than just a standard bracket where you only need to beat 3 people to win the whole tournament with a player pool this small, not to mention it wouldn't work with 10 players, you'd need 8 or 16.
Sure bo3 woulda been ideal but it's just a short tournament to end the year and you can't have it all, appreciate what you get.

I just woke up in Sweden and I see the results. What did Naniwa do that is so controversial?
|
Why were they even playing that game in the first place? It was totally pointless. This is like playing out all 5 games of a bo5 where someone is already up 3-0 or 3-1. This is like playing the bottom half of the 9th inning when the home team is already winning. This is like finishing out the overtime period of a football game where one team has already gotten the game winning field goal. It's a complete waste of time and insulting to the players. Perfect response by naniwa imo.

they basically want 20 min no rush!!

Such stupid arguments. It's not like Nestea cared either. If Nestea's first three games were sloppy, imagine what his play would look like with nothing on the line....

DRG over Leenock against MVP? I don't think so.

He probe rushed Nestea (essentially throwing the game) when they were both 0-3 and had no way to advance. Also they would have received the same prize money no matter what.
