Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |

Shouldn't he be ok with like a second probe scout with the 2 zealots? I don't play protoss but if he somehow lost all his scouting capabilities to lots of lings at the 7rr timing, wouldn't putting down 3 extra cannons at such a timing that he could cancel them if the rush doesn't come be a decent option? It would obviously put him behind but I think he should be able to just change some small thing and be fine.

Yes, he would be fine. However, what wasn't exactly obvious on the observer screen was that Leenock took painstaking measures to make sure his roaches weren't detected. Naniwa would have had to hide the probe somewhere obscure and then scouted with it at a perfect time to get knowledge of the rush.

Naniwa had a one-trick-pony strat against zerg the entire three days that became incredibly obvious to not only the players, and not only the audience, but even to the people who had very little knowledge of starcraft over the 3 days (one of the convention security people to me - "hey, didn't he do that before too?"). Nearly every zerg he has played involved a predictable FFE and Naniwa successfully executed it every single time against every single zerg until he ran into Leenock.
An opening (FFE) is not a strategy, he did many different PvZ builds even if the MLG security guard couldn't tell the difference

Leenock so much worse than nani, ridiculous he just won 50k and a code s spot.

I wonder If he'll win a single game there. He beat MVP (3 time champion), Nestea (3 time chamipon) twice and took out DRG. I think he'll do just fine.
Also a pretty dominating win over huk. (who won 1 series and lost 2 and still play in gsl)

quite right. it's kind of annoying to lose against early (and generally risky) Z rushes when FEing as P. however, obviously his build was not safe, and nobody can tell leenock he didn't "deserve" it because he found a gap in naniwas play and abused it. in fact i think he SHOULD abuse the hell out of it. otherwise people could go nexus first and say "well you're not supposed to rush until 7 min ok? otherwise you're a lame cheeser". so congrats to naniwa, great run, i was rooting for him all tournament long, unfortunately leenock showed is exact build was not completely safe and well-rounded.

Just watched the final, can't believe Leenock took it. 50k at 16 years old! Fantastic tournament start to finish.
Thought Naniwa threw it away really, he kept doing the FFE on every map even after Leenock showed he was willing to send early roaches and exploit it. Leenock read his play well. Naniwa should have responded to the events of games two and three by playing a little more safely, I know he's very comfortable with that build but its clear his opponent had figured out some holes in it. Got to adapt during the match. A 3-gate pressure expand build on Xel'naga for instance.

A better player would not do the same crap over and over again or at least be prepared for the same stuff, thus Naniwa deserved to lose.
Besides, Leenock is actually the LAST zerg remaining in Code S right now so he did not take the Code S spot. If you put everything into context, you'll finally realize how good Leenock actually is.

Congrats to Leenock, between him, Stephano, Idra and Nestea, there has been some very inspirational Zerg play these past few major tourneys.
I like that Leenock wasn't afraid to make 5-7 spinecrawlers to guarantee survival, even if it cost him economy, something I don't think enough players do.

Gongratz Leenock, well deserved win!!
|
Does that mean Naniwa gets a Code S spot? Because I'm really not sure he's ready...
|
its nice that we are starting to see more diversity in terms of success between the 3 races; game feels pretty balanced. (we can talk about balance if it's positive, right?) ;]

nah he's ready, the opponents he lost to in code A were just lucky.

Leenock actually played brilliantly. And he already has Code S and is the only Z left this season

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I see what you did there.
Check that joke

Just confirming, you have to buy MLG premium to see the Vods at this point?
|
Yay! The Leenocktopus won! Even as a protoss I just couldn't get myself to enjoy Naniwa's style. Watching the vods now, so far the game on Shattered was insane, can't believe The Leenocktopus held.

I had to go to bed right before the finals, and was expecting Naniwa to be champion when I got home today. What a disappointment.

When can we expect an announcement for MLG 2012 season, and all the new changes?
does anyone remember when did they announce 2011 season

Amazing matches! The whole tournament was fantastic and the venue was so nice.

Not sure if this is serious, but if you are wow.
Leenock outplayed naniwa hardcore. Leenock had an incredible run to the finals, the calibre of players he beat along the way was ridiculous.
stop hating
