Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

This. NOONE deserves it anywhere close... Last months on all I hear is how Nestea nd MVP are the best in the world. Naniwa plays them both many times in 3 days and more top koreans + Huk on top of that and absolutely crushes.

Noone is anywhere near to that dominance this tournament. Can anyone say I'm wrong?

Yes, cause anyone who got that deep had to do the same. And Naniwa never beat MVP at all, let alone "many times"

He beat MVP yesterday. Try again.

EDIT: Was Friday (I'm so tired ).

say what you will about naniwa's skill (he's good), but the winners bracket is pretty favoured.

Yup of course it is. In fact both Naniwa and Leenock came from the Winners Bracket!!

I think you meant Championship bracket / Open bracket =)

yup that's what i meant, my bad! they don't make it easy on open bracket players that's for sure.

How does nobody realize the only reason why nani lost is that he forgot / didn't know of that 3rd? That one woulda been dead right away if nani went there...

Nani should have harassed the third and expanded himself instead of going for the main. It was a tough call though as he almost had enough to break through.

Guys if you don't like 2 base play then hate Blizzard not Naniwa. There's $25,000 on the line here. If Naniwa feels like 2 base strategies are going to give him the best chance to win then that's what he's going to do.

is this bo5 or bo7?

It's a double elimination tournament, so Naniwa as the undefeated player only has to win this Bo3.

If Leenock wins this Bo3, it turns into a Bo7 with the score from the first Bo3 counting.

i.e. if Leenock wins the next game, they will play again, with the score starting at 2-1 in Leenock's favor.

If he was just a bit more mannered, people would support him a lot more I guess. And he doesn't BM like Idra, who QQ's a lot about zerg, randomly rage quits without GG and such, he wins the match and starts bashing a player like nestea, really uncool.

Because MvP and Nestea are very consistent with their performances.
Naniwa is a great player, and I'm sure he'll be considered a top player if he continues to play at this level.

Well MVP can't beat himself so how is he supposed to prove he's the best?

its funny that everyone praises naniwa for his play when ace and squirtle did the exact same forge expand into 2 base collossus push like a year ago at iem world championship

Well, that's maybe the sad part about MLG, the seeding. But well, also deserved for players who made this event to the top.

No rule about extended series complaining right? I'm not sure what the term is for this, but Leenock having to start 0-2 vs Naniwa in a bo7 is just sickening

i hate MLG for making their GF so anti-climactic, sigh

That's not extended series, that's pretty normal double elimination tournament.

Naniwa hasn't lost a series, so he has an advantage.

Actually, I was thinking about this earlier and isn't it true that...

Extended Series favours the Upper Bracket Player.
Standard Double Elimination favours the Lower Bracket Player.

Imagine the run of games goes N L L N L L.
- In a Naniwa favoured 2-0 Extended Series then Naniwa wins after the 4th game 4-2
- In a Naniwa favoured Double Elimination then Leenock wins after the 6th game? 2-0 (2-1 2-1)

Not according to what Artosis said, the format with your first option of N L L N L L would mean a 4-2 for Leenock, not Naniwa. It opens with a Bo3 that turns into an extended Bo7. It's not an extended finals, it's a Bo3 that can turn into an extended finals, it benefits Leenock more than a standard double elimination finals.

Well in that case it's advantaged to the Lower Bracket Player when compared to a standard Double Elimination?
In the case of L L N N L L N N
- In the MLG Format Leenock wins 4-2.
- In a standard Double Elim it goes to Naniwa.

Overall though, I suppose the MLG Format will give the most possible games which is a win for spectators? =]

I would say Leenock probably deserves it a little more. Other than the 0-2 to DRG, he has beaten every single opponent before him. Sure Nani has done the same, but the number of games played is just vastly different.

Except for the whole thing where Naniwa played at almost every other MLG to get that high seeding.
