1) Naniwa paused, watched the replay, and resumed the same game where it was paused.
2) Naniwa paused, watched the replay, and a new game was played on the same map.
Which one is it?
This is what happened:
1. Ace match. 2. Nani asked for restart. 3. Restart was given. 4. Re-game delayed. 5. Because Nani was looking at the replay of the restarted game. 6. Nani sees Nestea's build. 7. Drama.

So I went to bed during Nani vs Nestea, seems Nestea lost so the thread is in rage and collective hysteria mode ? :D Nestea will crush Naniwa hehehe, REVENGE hehehe, now Nani won so it's normal because jetlag/interview/extra-terrestrial invaded. As Idra lost and I see the thread was closed, I can imagine what happened xD Idra + Nestea lose...wow, poor thread :D

well it doesn't have to be against the rules to make naniwa look bad. even if people deem such actions as 'shady' or 'unfair' or 'gives him an advantage', its going to be a detriment to naniwa's reputation "in general" (and to people who are neutral about naniwa/like nestea more)

What's disappointing is if Naniwa thinks that winning this event using whatever means necessary in and out of playground would significantly help his long-term goals which are higher than that. He needs to be able to beat MVP and Nestea consistently in the GSL without any such little metagame advantages, if he is to fulfill his dreams. And getting some kind of tournament result that doesn't fully reflect his fair in-game ability at the time doesn't help him.
But also based on that thought, I don't think he had any major ill intentions when reviewing this replay, he probably thought it's okay. I guess that's why Kespa has booth girls, who supervise stuff like that.

Regame was delayed because Naniwa wanted to go pee and later Nestea was allowed to pee as well, a request he made before the start of the FIRST game (which was rejected by the admins). Then there was a pause in the 2nd game due to wrong map

Naniwa paused the game upon seeing that there was no hatchery because he was told that this version of Shakuras was suppose to be cross-spawns.
They kept the game paused while they talked everything out. MLG then brought the stream to a commercial. However, during the commercial, the paused game was accidently resumed for a few seconds. That was when they paused it again until the stream was back online.
If you pay close enough attention, you'd know that there was no "restart". It's all one continuous game! The in-game clock even proves that!
So quit spreading rumors. It's all there in the rebroadcast from today.
Nonetheless, Naniwa won in a straight up game. So just accept it and move on. Nestea isn't out of the competition yet.
You are the one spreading rumors... geez can you read posts before you. The game paused WAS the restarted game. -_-

I don't think you understand. A previous game that wasn't cast had to be restarted, not game 3. That game was also on Shakuras.

The game wasn't even restarted. They paused and went to commercial and then they resumed the same game.
Edit: Guy above me. Why didn't we see the first game on stream?

you are wrong. there was a restart you are describing the events of the restarted game, in which there was another pause but that game was resumed

This is such pointless drama. Knowing NesTea's build which HE MIGHT NOT HAVE EVEN USED IN THE REGAME had no effect on the outcome of Game 3. Get over it.

Nonetheless, Naniwa won in a straight up game. So just accept it and move on. Nestea isn't out of the competition yet. What people claim is that there was a failed game start in other positions (Nestea WAS cross-position in that game) which wasn't even broadcast, because the casters couldn't get in stream was still running commercials. Before even starting the game that we've seen on stream, apparently Naniwa watched the replay from that failed game, while Nestea was still in the restroom. (i can't confirm this, I'm not there at the event, and have only seen what you have seen, on the stream)
P.S. This whole little series of incidents also explains a little better why Naniwa would say in chat "joke tournament" (and get an official warning from MLG), not that it justifies it, but at least it doesn't look as bad as otherwise would.

I don't think you understand how pros prepare for a tournament. They sure don't just choose a random build they know regardless of the matchup or regardless of who they're playing against.

Wrong.
1. Ace match. 2. Refs call for restart because they started the game while the stream was on commercial. 3. Naniwa and Nestea go to bathroom. 4. Naniwa gets back and watches replay. 5. Nestea gets back. 6. Game is restarted on the same map. 7. Naniwa scouts cross position, notices Nestea isn't there, and pauses, requesting a restart because he thought it was cross position only. 8. Referees deny restart request, game is unpaused, we watch the game. 9. Naniwa wins. 10. Drama.

meh. People simply giving observations of questionable ethics in one of the more prestigious sc tournaments (so of course they will set example for other tourney)... whats wrong with that? shouldn't blanket and dismiss conversation because you think its "drama" or "you guys are discrediting naniwa"... w/e

I think they have at least a second build on a specific map in such a long tourney.
Btw, I thought Cross-Positions only as well. DJ Wheat said it on the red stream once.

What if he did? Is that not an unfair advantage here? It depends on how MLG rules work if it's cheating or not. Cheating is cheating, whether it benefited him or not he POSSIBLY (don't have the complete story, just anecdotal it seems) tried to get an unfair advantage. It's pretty stupid that he wouldn't get punished for it if it was against the rules, even if he didn't benefit from it at that time.
