Lol, bashing a lot ? Where is it written in law that you cannot overturn results of games that were played against the rules ? Oh, yes, you do not like it because that means TT1 is likely out. Too bad, but either way they go it will be unfair to someone and there is no objective reason to argue that one way is more unfair than the other.

TT1 actually palyed games and won, that's why its more unfair to him? O_O

THE GAME NEVER MATTERED.

Is this really hard to understand?

Then why did they play it? How about we ask TT1 and Gatored if the game mattered or not?

ROFL.

Did you listen to what carmac said? They weren't supposed to play eachother so that match doesn't count at all. It means nothing to the tourny.

You didn't answer my question of why they played it. I know they weren't supposed to. But they did. Someone told them to play. Someone told them to play because whoever won will get to the semifinals.

Did you even think that they didn't find out until the games were over? Thats my best guess.

Then the tournament should live with the consequences of their mistake. Not the player.

Yea, DRG, Top and all the other players should not live with the consequences of the mistake. As all people said sucks to be TT1, but why should all the other players suffer ?

You can bash IEM for fucking up the match making.

You can hate IEM for fucking over TT1 without any compensation in sight.

But you shouldn't blame IEM for sticking with the rules. In every organization or event that claims legitimacy that's the first principle to go for - act by the rules. Really, there's no better solution when you consider the big picture.
Always smile~

What a crappy situation. I think IEM's decision is correct. The integrity of the competition is preserved. Nobody loses anything, except TT1 having won a match for naught. He could be given the prize money for a ro4 placement as a compensation even if he loses the rematch ($450 extra). I don't think that's an unreasonable price to pay for IEM for making such a mistake.

Props to Carmac for having the balls to step in front of the camera himself to admit a mistake and apologize. Classy.

Actually, Liquipedia had it right with DongRaeGu in first place, and then liquipedia was changed when it was heard from IEM that DongRaeGu took second place. Liquipedia just changes so quickly that some people didn't see that DongRaeGu was actually put it first place at first.

My statement for the situation with TT1 and DRG.

A referee has made a terrible mistake. We cannot undo that - an undeserving player is in a situation which should not have happened.

Gatored got wrongly seeded into the tournament bracket as the #1 seed instead of DRG who received the #2 player's seed in the bracket. As a result, the two players were placed in the wrong part of the bracket and TT1 played a player he was not supposed to. Unfortunately the error was discovered during the match and not before. The result cannot stand.

I deeply regret that such a mistake happened at such a time, but we cannot undo it. We canceled the match and fixed the bracket layout. Nothing else could be done.

All I can do right now on my behalf and on behalf of the referee is apologise to the players involved in the match, their teams and the fans that followed the match. This should not have happened and I will do everything for this to never happen again.

I regret this has happened and I apologise.

Nonono, we had it correctly until they announced the quarterfinal matchups. Only then did we have to add all the (incorrect) information about tiebreaker order.
