We shouldn't bash IEM because they didn't know their own rules?

Blablbalab everyone talking about TT1 but what if they had just let him into the semis or whatever and dongraegu had lost his match vs whoever he was going to play? that would be unfair for dongraegu. you have to look at this from more than one viewpoint.

Lol, bashing a lot ? Where is it written in law that you cannot overturn results of games that were played against the rules ? Oh, yes, you do not like it because that means TT1 is likely out. Too bad, but either way they go it will be unfair to someone and there is no objective reason to argue that one way is more unfair than the other.

TT1 actually palyed games and won, that's why its more unfair to him? O_O

THE GAME NEVER MATTERED.

Is this really hard to understand?

Then why did they play it? How about we ask TT1 and Gatored if the game mattered or not?

ROFL.

Did you listen to what carmac said? They weren't supposed to play eachother so that match doesn't count at all. It means nothing to the tourny.

You didn't answer my question of why they played it. I know they weren't supposed to. But they did. Someone told them to play. Someone told them to play because whoever won will get to the semifinals.

Did you even think that they didn't find out until the games were over? Thats my best guess.

Then the tournament should live with the consequences of their mistake. Not the player.

That would break the correct format and fuck over everyone else.

So they had to either fuck over tt1 or fuck over everyone else. Logical choice is one person over many.

They are the tournament organizers. They can say that this is now the format (even though it's wrong) because of a mistake. To me, that's more reasonable than telling a competitor that they played an illegitimate game because the organizers fucked up. I'm curious who would be up in arms if they had not said anything at all.

That's a very strange thing to say. They can't just arbitrarily change the tournament rules because they made a mistake. By that logic they could just as well say "oh the tournament format is that you guys have to play a match for nothing right now".

Tough situation.

I believe that if any of them did realize that they would have just called a referee and ask him to double check the brackets or something.

Yeah of course, but then again this way it was easier for both of them i would say. Don't get me wrong, i'm not blaming anyone here or anything. Just wondering.

So you want them to continue screwing over everyone by letting that match count? Is that correct?

I also don't understand how breaking the format "fucks up everyone else". Looking at the bracket if we assume that the higher seed should always win then at most it fucks up TOP/DRG.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

Lol at all these kids bad mouthing xeris for NASL. Seriously kids, shut the hell up, Xeris has done a lot more in this community than 99% of you have and has run more tournaments than anyone here has, so before you critisize someone like Xeris about running a tourney, espcially like NASL where it was their first time doing it, and IEM has been doing this for however long know, learn how to do shit first, and get the experience Xeris has and then talk shit, but untill you fucking know how to run tournaments and anything, shut the hell up, he's done a better job than any of you would have done

/rant

And why is that more valid than the IEM decision ?

And only SOME are bad mouthing xeris for NASL.

Many others are giving plain straight opinion that any responsible professional adult person should have when dealing with this kind of situation and bad mouthing IEM because of his PERSONAL situation ain't proper for someone like him, he's pissed, and probably in a few hours HE WILL be calling TT1 and cheering him up. (What would have happened if TT1 had lost 3-0 to gatored ? I wonder)

Hey, don't piss in the wind & calm down everybody.

Nobody here went to University of eSport, Nobody here learns in the same pace, Nobody here knows how much someone have learned about tournaments and eSports in the course of his life. If xeris is doing NASL and everybody knows him is because he had more access to it than others. Same for IEM organizers, they have been doing this for years, but as far as I know, lot of people here can have better understanding of how to run a tournament than xeris, or not, get it? Until now there are many professional sport leagues that mess up every once in a while. NBA is a mess right now for example.

If the exact opposite situation occurred (DRG played TT1 and won, but then IEM realized they screwed up and switched him to face Top) I guarantee the sentiment would be completely different here. Everyone just wants to avoid DRG and Top playing each other.

Meh, I'm bowing out here. I hope they at least compensate TT1 somehow (maybe auto-qualify him for the next IEM or something).

I don't understand why tt1 should be compensated... he played the wrong matches... its unfortunate but that's life... this by no means deserves to be compensated for... its not like after his match he went and bought $1000 worth of stuff thinking that he would be getting prize money... seriously just replay the matches lol

So... (as I assumed) the commentators were wrong, when talking about randomly picked brackets from a bowl etc. Rather, the bracket is fixed: A1vD2, A2vD1, B1vC2, B2vC1; which again makes it unpredictable, because the results in a group determine who faces who. In that sense, of course, the commentators were correct that getting certain subgroup of players in the same final bracket is completely up to themselves. If Koreans had two 1st and two 2nd places in the right configuration, they had to face each other, but that's not something that can be predicted, obviously.

i assume the brackets are picked randomly but from two pools. one with all 1st place players and one with all the 2nd place players.

People saying you don't just throw out the results of a played matched seem to be forgetting that that is exactly what they would be doing if they let tt1 advance and made drg play top. DRG and Top placed first in their groups by playing and winning matches, they shouldn't have to play each other, if they were made to aren't you throwing away the results of their matches that got them number 1 seeds??

The funny thing is if the situation were reversed and TT1 got matched up against DRG accidently instead of an easier opponent he'd be throwing the same fit he is now if they decided to let the games of 2 other players stand and make tt1 play someone he wasn't supposed to because of a seeding error. Either way someone gets screwed and has to play DRG, at least they are following their own rules and it's the right person.

Dude that's so fucked up... how can they cancel the result of a game that was played?

They should apologize to DRG for messing up and having him play the wrong opponent, not cancel the result of a game already played

Why ? Is it more unfair then DRG having to play harder opponent when he ended up 1st in the group ? Sticking to system is better as one way or another you are being unfair to someone, so at least it is according to rules.

Doesnt matter. The game was already played... IEM should apologize to DRG for fucking up, not cancel a legitimate game

now they just apologize to TT1 for fucking up isn't doing the same thing and getting it right?

what the hell is wrong with you guys? you just dont do that AFTER an official match has been played.

Very bad move by IEM. Apparently IPL raised the bar of being professional way too high last week. IEM just bombed esports back into the stone age.

But it's not an official match.

But it was an official match. They should have canceled it right away but not after the match. by doing so they official'ed that match.

TT1 should be compensated for this. He played for free essentially and if he gets bounced now its not really fair. Guaranteeing him semi-final money would be the most fair

Maybe they could have done all those prize drawings in the "commercial" break instead of eating from the time in which they could be streaming some games.
