Which completely beats the points of even aiming for first in your group. Everything is fine like it is. They don't need to change anything. They got the tiebreaker rules wrong. DRG was supposed to finish 1st. That makes no sense what so ever. In all my years of following ESL's tournament, before SC2 even came out, they never take map score as the tie-breaker between two people. Head-to-head is always what determined two-man ties for them. Makes absolutely no sense for them to change their rules. *shrug* They've screwed this up royally.

it's funny because this thread is full of angry noobies that never had to deal with a poor decision against them as a player, so they don't even seem to understand how frustrating and painful it is for fnatic and TT1, so they just bash on Xeris, while he is right to defend his player, i mean, what do you guys think Xeris should do in this position lol, defend his player or just say "oh yes the ESL rules must be followed, sorry bro, you're against DRG now, too bad you didn't go to MLG instead".

It'd be kinda deligitimising the tourney if TT1 advanced due to a match that shouldn't have happened. That said, I understand it sucks hard for him, but maybe you should hold back in some of your comments, as they are quite harsh. I'm mad that my player and good friend got fucked over O_O what's hard to understand nothing is hard to understand, but bashing and flaming IEM isn't going to get your friend his game back... look, it wasnt a legit game - it wasnt fair to ANYONE, drg, gatored, tt1, top.... quit acting like tt1's the victim when if DRG had lost to TOP - he would be the victim as well... why wouldnt you prefer to go straight up the way things SHOULD have been? I'd hate to win a tournament with an * stating i actually didnt play the right opponents... regardless, quit flaming and acting like a kid - aren't you the guy who runs NASL? LOL. don't talk bad about iem, lol.
I'm aware of that. I'm responding like a human being, my teammate and friend won a game 3-0, he was not at all responsible for admins making mistakes, and now he has to play again.
You have no idea how tilting that is as a player.

IEM definitely fucked up. But fucking up doesn't mean they can throw the rulebook out of the window to fix the problem. They have to bite the bullet and have the proper matches played. Otherwise the winner could win illegitimately and IEM would be even more discredited. Shit sucks, but it's the right thing to do.

did TT1 play vs gator or something which should not have happened or wtf?
On October 15 2011 04:47 HaXXspetten wrote: For those of you not understanding, here's why: IEM Season VI - Global Challenge New York If you look at group B, DRG had an overall score of 5-3 in his group with 2-1 in BO3 stats. Gatored had an overall score of 4-4 in his group with 2-1 in BO3 stats. Yet Gatored beat DRG 2-1 in their BO3. This caused conflict on what would count highest: their individual head-to-head record or their overall group win/loss ratio. Thus, the IEM referee accidentally made the wrong call, and did not realize it until now: thus DRG and Gatored should switch places in their group and therefore also their matchups in the quarter finals.
I can understand why this happened... but really, it shouldn't have. It shouldn't have...

This poll is biased as shit. The results are purely based on what matches people want to watch, not what is fair to the players.
Actually it just shows that the minority seems to be posting a majority of the flames.

Xeris gonna steal all of IEM's chairs.

Anyone else notice Xeris completely duck any flak about NASL when he bashes IEM for being shitty?
Completely ignored them.
Anyways, TT1 is an ex-drophacker. I consider this indirect justice.

Too bad, but either way they go it will be unfair to someone and there is no objective reason to argue that one way is more unfair than the other. TT1 actually palyed games and won, that's why its more unfair to him? O_O No that is in no way more unfair. Fasically he played some games he thought matter and they do not, that sucks. But it is also unfair to put DRG against TOP that basically means one fo them has to go out of the tournament early, when if they played the opponents they earned by playing more than 3 games (that TT1 played wrongly) they are basically sure to both advance to the next round. I see no reason to judge one more unfair than the other, but one decision follows the rules the other does not.

ROFL.
Did you listen to what carmac said? They weren't supposed to play eachother so that match doesn't count at all. It means nothing to the tourny.

Given that they had screwed up, the options were: Screw over DRG and let the match stand. Breaks tournament rules. Screw over TT1 and discard the match. The tournament is played out according to the brackets.
Given that both options involve screwing somebody over, why not go with the one that ensures that the correct bracket plays out?
This is an obvious decision. I'm shocked people object to it - you can be annoyed at the ref, but not at the way it was handled.
-Cross No. If an official decision was made and they let TT1 play out his match it's done. Over. Out. You just don't say whhoos... sorry guys me made a mistake and go back to the start. That's distortion of competitive. Simply as that. nope.

They should apologize to DRG for messing up and having him play the wrong opponent, not cancel the result of a game already played Why ? Is it more unfair then DRG having to play harder opponent when he ended up 1st in the group ? Sticking to system is better as one way or another you are being unfair to someone, so at least it is according to rules. Doesnt matter. The game was already played... IEM should apologize to DRG for fucking up, not cancel a legitimate game now they just apologize to TT1 for fucking up isn't doing the same thing and getting it right?

regame is the lesser of two evils screwing one person instead of 4 people

did TT1 play vs gator or something which should not have happened or wtf? TT1 and Gatored played (3-0 in TT1's favour), but the games shouldn't have happened due to a mistake in seeding, so the game was struck from the record and TT1 will instead have to face DRG and Gatored will face TOP. I'd imagine TT1 gets compensated in some way for this, although I think IEM handled this the best way possible with the information available.
