nothing is hard to understand, but bashing and flaming IEM isn't going to get your friend his game back... look, it wasnt a legit game - it wasnt fair to ANYONE, drg, gatored, tt1, top.... quit acting like tt1's the victim when if DRG had lost to TOP - he would be the victim as well... why wouldnt you prefer to go straight up the way things SHOULD have been? I'd hate to win a tournament with an * stating i actually didnt play the right opponents... regardless, quit flaming and acting like a kid - aren't you the guy who runs NASL? LOL. don't talk bad about iem, lol.

Right solution is not to swap Gatored and DRG in their existing matchups, but to re-draw.
|
Well four ppl groups sucks just because it always comes down to stupid ties!!! And how come the players dont know the rules so they can object when something is wrong...

OK WHAT HAPPENED I JUST CAME BACK?
did TT1 play vs gator or something which should not have happened or wtf?

How do they make 2 second seeds play each other? They would then make two 1st seed play each other then? Which completely beats the points of even aiming for first in your group. Everything is fine like it is. They don't need to change anything. They got the tiebreaker rules wrong. DRG was supposed to finish 1st. That makes no sense what so ever. In all my years of following ESL's tournament, before SC2 even came out, they never take map score as the tie-breaker between two people. Head-to-head is always what determined two-man ties for them. Makes absolutely no sense for them to change their rules.

Man oh man.
Re-games happen in tournaments. didn't Strelok have to re-game a match in IEM China because they accidentally played on some cracked map where marines had double range?
TT1 played some nice games, and ZvP is DRG's worst matchup. Just because TT1 and Gatored basically got forced to play a showmatch doesn't mean all the other players in the tournament should get fucked too.

Lol at all these kids bad mouthing xeris for NASL. Seriously kids, shut the hell up, Xeris has done a lot more in this community than 99% of you have and has run more tournaments than anyone here has, so before you critisize someone like Xeris about running a tourney, espcially like NASL where it was their first time doing it, and IEM has been doing this for however long know, learn how to do shit first, and get the experience Xeris has and then talk shit, but untill you fucking know how to run tournaments and anything, shut the hell up, he's done a better job than any of you would have done

Given that both options involve screwing somebody over, why not go with the one that ensures that the correct bracket plays out?
This is an obvious decision. I'm shocked people object to it - you can be annoyed at the ref, but not at the way it was handled.
-Cross TT1 is getting boned way harder than DRG is in your two examples. TT1 essentially has a won match removed and has his opponent switched.
DRG just has to switch opponents.

Yeah indeed they have to give TT1 compensation if he loses, everything else would be bad.

If the situation was reversed and TT1 played DRG and lost but was supposed to play gatored and there was a rematch, you would have a different opinion.
You are bringing emotions into an emotionless decision.
He should be compensated with 4th place money out of goodwill.
Also, he hasn't even lost to DRG yet. Give your homie a chance.

Oh, yes, you do not like it because that means TT1 is likely out. Too bad, but either way they go it will be unfair to someone and there is no objective reason to argue that one way is more unfair than the other. TT1 actually palyed games and won, that's why its more unfair to him? O_O THE GAME NEVER MATTERED. Is this really hard to understand? Then why did they play it? How about we ask TT1 and Gatored if the game mattered or not?

Honestly, they played the game out already. Seeding error, sure, that sucks. But man up and accept YOUR error. Don't fuck the players over for it.
Yargh. Stupid IEM, now I HAVE to cheer for TT1, and I don't want to do that!!! They did accept their error though, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have to be fixed. It would've been rough on DRG that way. This way all players get the chance to play the right matchups. Yea, I understand that and I get their point of view. At the same time, TT1 is now at a disadvantage. He'll have had to win more games than anyone else to win the tournament.
How? He's going to have to win the exact same number of games. If Gatored won this matchup, it would still not count, so he didn't have to win this.
Yes, TT1 is obviously fucked by this decision, but it was the most fair resolution - no player is eliminated, everyone still gets to play the correct matchups. It's tough psychologically after you've just won a match, but the fact is that NO ONE is "punished" in terms of format and results.
On the other hand, if they stuck to this, then players WOULD get directly punished by the tournament organization (DRG and TOP).
There is only one fair way to resolve this, and they've had the guts to pick it. The easiest thing to do for IEM was to just go on with the tournament. Instead, they've picked the correct way to handle the situation even if it will get them a ton more hate.
Mistakes suck, but we should respect IEM for making a tough but correct decision.

IEM made a mistake but did the right thing in apologising and fixing it straight away. Unfortunately for TT1, all we saw was a show match. Maybe some compensation will go to TT1.

Gatored: You just activated my trap card.

yes, they have balls.
