Let's be clear.
Given that they had screwed up, the options were: Screw over DRG and let the match stand. Breaks tournament rules. Screw over TT1 and discard the match. The tournament is played out according to the brackets.
Given that both options involve screwing somebody over, why not go with the one that ensures that the correct bracket plays out?
This is an obvious decision. I'm shocked people object to it - you can be annoyed at the ref, but not at the way it was handled.

Really unfair to TT1, but would also be unfair to have DRG play against TOP when they were both rank 1 seeds in their group.
|
ESL has its own rules confused. TT1 and DRG both finished second in their group. How do they make 2 second seeds play each other? They would then make two 1st seed play each other then? Which completely beats the points of even aiming for first in your group. Everything is fine like it is. They don't need to change anything.

The game was already played... IEM should apologize to DRG for fucking up, not cancel a legitimate game I think it's good this way. It'd be kinda deligitimising the tourney if TT1 advanced due to a match that shouldn't have happened. That said, I understand it sucks hard for him, but maybe you should hold back in some of your comments, as they are quite harsh.
I'm mad that my player and good friend got fucked over O_O what's hard to understand

This poll is biased as shit.
The results are purely based on what matches people want to watch, not what is fair to the players.

I dont understand how they found out only now ... I maybe browsed TL yesterday for 1h together and found some posts saying why isn't DRG 1st in his group .. I even remember a link to the ESL page with the rankings

A referee messed up, chill out. I know your player got screwed over, but so did the brackets, they have a tournament system and they have to stick to it. It's one person's error, the company trusted him, but don't blame the whole administration for one person's fuck up. (I hope TT1 wins against DRG anyway, or at least gets semi-level prize money for the mishap that just occurred.)

As for something constructive, it was a really good decision to actually correct what they did wrong and start from scratch, it shows that they acknowledge their mistake and are willing to correct it. But it does suck a lot for TT1 was cheering for him too!

I agree. Going through with this game without nullifying it's results would discredit the whole rest of the tournament. The winner in the end would end up being "the one who won due to the ref's fuckup" and those who lost "those who lost because they got run over by the ref's failure". Better get the mistake straight and sacrifice the one series for the sake of the whole tournament.

IEM has to make an address to the United Nations to plead the Republic of South korea for forgiveness of their horrendous mistreatment of a Korean citizen. The reputation of the whole Western civilization is on the line.

Oh wait, that actually happened and they fixed it. I appreciate the decision to cancel the game.

This shows that the majority on TL has a brain .
I applaud the ESL Personell for being ballsy enough to admit the mistake.

What's up with this awsome french music?
Anyone know the artist/song?

I have an idea how to deal with it in a fair way:
DRG plays Gatored and unless he wins 3-0 TT1 advances. If he wins 3-0 we count overall time of all games. The one who killed him faster advances. :D:D

Well, I'm glad they aren't going to make TT1 play anymore today.

You're assessment of this poll is based on pure speculation as to the individual thought process of the many, many people that responded. You can't call a poll biased because you think you know how other people are thinking.
