We don't really know how many people paid for the IGN Prime stream, how many people actually there and how much each of them paid for the spectator pass (the top one cost like 200$). Until the final number comes out, I don't think we should jump to the conclusion. This is their first live event. How much do you think all of this equipment costs? How much do you think all of their content production cost? How much is the prize pool? I'm sorry, but when there are only a few dozen people the first 2 days and maybe 3 or 4 times that on a Saturday...you are not doing great. It's hard for me to imagine tons of people getting in on the Prime deal given the early stream problems...or even without that. They invested a ton into this first event...and they probably would have considered breaking even as a huge success. I simply can't imagine they came anywhere close to that based on the tiny crowds.

*shakes head* MLG is incredibly well funded and the guy running the show says that it isn't viable if they can't get at least 100k subscriptions. That is on top of the thousands of fans they have in attendance every day. I think you are kidding yourself if you think that has been a financial success. One key difference between the two, IPL has been running a stream almost 12 hours a day for months leading up to this event. Something that MLG has finally picked up and started doing.

Yeah and I have no doubt they will continue to do those. I think if the people who invest in this thing see the profit margins for simply running a stream every day as opposed to the huge financial crater that the first live event was, they will pack this show up. I'm just being realistic. People in business are out to make money. They gave IPL a chance to prove the live event could do that and I think it's been pretty obvious to people that are paying attention that it didn't happen. I'm not happy about it. I hoped it would be a smashing success and we'd get these a lot more often. I just think it is an incredible long shot that we see another one.

Well, there is an option but it's kind of one of those things where you're submitting to a recurring payment thing. Unless you cancel, which you might.
