the thing is: some ppl dont care about past accomplishments, because they are dont mean too much and do not tell you how good a player acutally is currently. They judge the acutal games because they rly do understand the game to some extend.
I see no1 in the thread who "over"hyped him, no1 compares him to MVP and NesTea. Some ppl argue about him being the best foreigner, which is debateable - or would you disagree? The problem is that guys like you seem to ignore what he did and dont even count him as top foreigner. There is more people counting him out then overhyping him.
When i see threads of MLG or IEM China where HuK and IdrA won, i see 800 times more hype tbh

And I do think his methodology annoys the shit out of SC traditionalists. 4 hours a day. It probably aggravates the shit out of anyone who has put in 12 and a half hours of SC2 daily for year; someone who has put in a third of the time is outclassing you in a ridiculous fashion.

1) Many Americans knew who Stephano was since Home Story Cup, many others who are aware of the EU scene knew him even before then.
2) This overhyping came from French posters and Thorzain who says "SIGN ME UP FOR THE BEST FOREIGN ZERG!@!@" Although I admit the "out of nowhere" phrases came from alot of Americans.

I don't see any other players that control their zerglings and roaches as effectively as Stephano. I don't know how he does it, but somehow he has mastered the art of not having lings running around not attacking. Watch him attack a siege line, he somehow separates his lings so that only the right amount surrounds the tanks and the rest carry on to attack the other units. Any other player I see do this, always has extra lings running circles around tanks and not attacking..... even Nestea last night vs MVP.
I would love to see him play a best of 7 vs MVP right now..... I would not be at all surpised if Stephano beat him.
This thread is ridiculous. In the last month Stephano beats MKP and a few code B Koreans while losing to Alive and Boxer, yet he's as good as Nestea who went 5-7 against MVP. Right. It seems like people have forgotten about Sen and Dimaga when talking about best foreign zergs. Too bad they had that Blizzcon thing to attend and couldn't be here to give Stephano a proper challenge.

Well how do you decide to support a player? Personally I would support someone based on good, intuitive or interesting plays. Stephano is completely changing the zerg metagame so I think he's worthy of it.

Stephano is definitely getting overhyped when you see people praising him as god or "best zerg" on par with top koreans etc etc.
You guys remember Thorzain and Naniwa a few months back? Beat a few Koreans at some major tournaments, wining one or two as well, and people started praising them as gods and saviors of foreigners. They then get sent to Korea, and what of them now? oh right get knocked out of Code A first round multiple times. I don't see Stephano being any different atm.

He has no one worthy of mentioning in his group, then he beat Axslav, Cloud, MKP, Mana.
So the only one worthy of mentioning is MKP, whom just barely got back into Code S last season, and then not make it out of ro32. Add on to the fact that it was only a Bo3, and ZvT is Stephano's best MU, it definitely didn't deserve all the overhyping he got.

Thorzain only got knocked out once, Nani got knocked out twice, so what? There's quite a few top tier players who struggled in (or even out of) Code A for several seasons. Counting in GSTL, their performances in Korea have been pretty good overall.
They haven't disappointed at all, I have no idea what you were expecting. Any hype they got was largely justified.
