All of you guys claiming Hasu outplayed...i hope you realize PvP at the top level is like 80% decision making. Its all metagame.

Edit: that is, almost every top player has good enough micro do almost anything; its the choices and mindgames that win, thus, Hasu losing means Hasu was, at least today, the worse PvPer

kthxbai

kthxhai, care to explain why it's ~80% in each and every game of PvP?
most people are saying that hasuobs is more consistent in his good decision making mid to late game. even players today are unsure of the best way to play. if it means being able to stay alive, and being able to play well in the late game, then yeah, hasuobs did play a better style but fell short.

You mean, coin-flipping.

Glad I missed the series between Hasu and Elfi. I enjoyed dinner instead. ^^

Wtf; how can you be "glad" you missed something when you have no idea what happened.

It was a pretty amazing series with a lot of back and forth action and awesome engagements. Really really entertaining to watch.

I got to watch like last 3 minutes where both Dark shrines were going up. I figured I wouldn't have missed much.

Unfortunately you missed heaps! Hasu was behind so he went for a gamble, and Elfi scouted no robo or forge so made the correct decision. DT shrine != insta-cheese

Anyway; i would recommend that series for some entertaining PvP

When Huk beat Naniwa in the final of Homestory cup I think it was, with a massive supply deficit and a risky DT switch everybody loved it, as did it. Huk showed a huge pair of balls and pulled back the deficit

Why the Elfi bashing?

What a great PvP series, I was expecting HasuObs to take it but Elfi really surprised me. The dude is on fire.

Solid decisionmaking by Elfi, mediocre micro across the board but better positionings for Hasu, although in the Phoenix game in his last push his immortals were shooting zealots.

lol, don't bother replying to someone that furious.

Can't people be supportive of a relatively new player breaking out and making the finals of a stacked tournament?

If I had joined and seen that, I might have said that too, but really, the previous games were pretty good. Nothing very macro based, but for PvP's they were decent games. Hasu macro'd better, but Elfi had better game sense and decision making. Usually had better tech too.

Elfi again had good scouting, and I think it's his awareness of his opponent that is wining him these games.
Welcome to earth.

I personally think Elfi's play this tournament hasn't been "mind blowing" to be honest...lots of his wins haven't been due to some crazy sick play but more of his opponents screwing up really badly.

Look at the Strelok series, the situations where Strelok had the upper hand he would completely lose it to 2 storms. I think it was on Duel Sight, Strelok attacked near the 3rd of Elfi...except he stopped in that double choke...2 storms hit and his army automatically lost a ton of health. Really poor play by Strelok (which surprised me).

His series vs Hasu...Elfi should've lost that one but DTs save the day. In the words of Day[9]..."I'm toss and about to lose...lets build DTs!!!" (obviously I paraphrased that but it's close! ).

I don't main Toss so I guess I can't fully say if that's a "solid" win or not but from a spectator point of view it looks like it's more or less a "I hope he doesn't attack while I tech up and auto win!".

To top things off, how many mistakes has Elfi been making? For this level of play, there shouldn't be simple mistakes like missing 2 warp in rounds on a gateway because he forgot to make it a warpgate (final game vs hasu). I don't even see that at diamond level!

Maybe Elfi will grow on me, but for now, I'm not a fan. He has good build orders, but lots of his wins (in my opinion) weren't due to him outplaying his opponent. If he can tighten up his play more, then he will be very hard to beat but if he continues to play like this, I can see the other pro players figuring out his strats/play style and beating him consistently.

I will keep my eye on him though!

I'm pretty sure Rotti wasn't referring to using blink and going "herp derp blink right ON TOP OF HIS Zealots", jesus christ.
